‘Greatest Arabic Poet’ Says Islam ‘Can’t Be Modernized’

…Islamists have shown the world time and again who they are and what they stand for yet the world refuses to believe them. And even when moderate Muslims — people who were born and raised in Islamic societies — try to educate the West about what Islam truly stands for, the West still refuses to believe them, too.  Such is the case with the preeminent Arabic-language poet, Adunis Asbar. The poet, better known as “Adonis,” is now being vehemently criticized for stating that Islam cannot be modernized. He reasons that unless there becomes a “separation of church and state” within Islamic society, basic human rights and democracy will never come to fruition. He also astutely noted that Islam “does not contribute to intellectual life” nor does it produce art, science and world-changing vision. READ MORE
