BDS fail: American scholars reject Israel boycott

The U.S. Modern Language Association on Saturday rejected a resolution calling for an academic boycott of Israel. 113 members of the delegate assembly voted against the resolution, with 79 voting in favor. The vote on the resolution took place during the four-day MLA convention underway in Philadelphia. Had the resolution passed, it could have dealt a significant blow to Israeli academics and students working in departments of language, literature, and related fields across the U.S., as well as to collaborations and research involving Israeli academic institutions. The resolution was proposed by a group called MLA Members for Justice in Palestine. READ MORE
