How does a bereaved father feel when he points to the completely mistaken concept of achieving “quiet” at the cost of abandoning any security value, and yet the military and political leadership dismissively mutters, “He’s just a bereaved father.” My response is always the same: Those who abandon the dead will abandon the wounded and the living. FDD Israeli Druze Colonel Killed in Gaza Fighting An Israeli tank battalion commander who distinguished himself in helping repel the October 7 Hamas onslaught was killed on November 1 during the Gaza ground offensive. Lt.-Col. Salman Habaka was a member of Israel’s Druze minority and commander of the Armored Corps’ 53rd Battalion. He was the 18th military fatality, and the most senior officer among them, in Gaza since Israel expanded ground operations a week ago.
