Father of Tel Aviv gunman apologizes for his son’s attack

The father of the Arab-Israeli man who allegedly gunned down two men and wounded eight others in an attack on a Tel Aviv pub apologized Saturday for his son’s actions — and said he was helping authorities in the manhunt. “I was born in Israel,” the father of Nashat Milhem, 31, told Israeli media. “I am a law-abiding citizen. I heard my son was in Tel Aviv and I heard what happened and what he had done. I did not educate him in such a way, and I am deeply sorry by what he has done.” The Israeli security agency Shin Bet questioned Milhem’s dad, who had contacted police when he recognized his son in surveillance video that captured the unfolding attack, the Jerusalem Post reported. “I am a part of everyone’s suffering; it doesn’t matter whether you are an Arab or a Jew,” the father, a security guard, said.
