What was once the exclusive province of ideological outliers or religious separatists has become an increasingly mainstream choice. Before the coronavirus pandemic, roughly 2.5 million American children were homeschooled, a number that surged to more than 3.5 million by 2021 and has remained well above pre-COVID levels since.
