LETTER TO THE WSJ
August 9, 2015
To the Editor: In the Journal story about Senator Schumer’s decision to oppose the proposed nuclear weapons accord with Iran, the word “Jewish” appears 14 times. That is more than one percent of the words in the story. The Journal has also reported that 2/3 of Americans are either opposed or undecided on the Iran agreement, and the White House acknowledges that Congressional approval is not their goal, just one vote less than 2/3 of the house or senate disapproving the treaty so the president’s threatened veto is sustained. For large numbers of Americans, this is about a state that rallies its people to chants of “Death to America” as it seeks nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them. In the United States Jews are barely more than 2 percent of the population, not two-thirds. No matter how much the treaty’s advocates prefer to make this primarily a Jewish concern, it is not, and the Journal should know better.
