Satmar Rebbe’s great-grandson becomes IDF officer

… Chaim Meisels, the great-grandson of one of two Satmar Rebbes who lay claim to the hasidic dynasty, was drafted into the IDF in 2014 after moving to Israel from the United States. On Wednesday, he graduated the IDF’s Officer School and became a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade. In a Facebook post that has since gone viral in Israel, Meisels wrote about the long journey that took him from the insular [Brooklyn] Satmar community of his youth to the IDF. READ MORE
