Veteran Israel-basher Roger Waters was labelled an anti-Semite after taking to Facebook on Friday to re-iterate his earlier call for rock and roll legend Neil Young to cancel his upcoming performances in Israel.
The former Pink Floyd bassist also admitted that his previous request was completely ignored. “Enough is enough,” Waters wrote. “In January this year I wrote a private letter to Neil Young, it was sent via his manager Elliot Roberts’ email, I never received a reply of any kind.”
“More recently I spoke openly about The Rolling Stones performing in Tel Aviv,” he added. “In light of the appalling recent events in Israel and Gaza and my dismay at the the lack of any response from our governments and in a final appeal to Neil’s possible attachment to the rights of all human beings, not just the disenfranchised natives of North America, but all human beings all over the world, I am publishing that letter now.”
Waters copied his original letter to Young in which he accuses the Jewish state of “illegal colonization” and “systematic oppression” among other things. His latest insistence comes as Israel battles Gaza based terrorists who have fired hundreds of missiles into Israeli cities and towns.
In response, Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of Jewish human rights group the Simon Wiesenthal Center, accused Waters of anti-Semitism.
