Longtime state Democratic political operative ensnarled in video controversy

For four decades, Robert Creamer has been part of the fabric of Illinois and national Democratic campaigns, from helping elect wife Jan Schakowsky to Congress and giving Mayor Rahm Emanuel his first post-college job to helping on Barack Obama‘s two presidential campaigns and working this time to elect Hillary Clinton. Now Creamer, who largely has worked behind the scenes as a consultant, particularly after a 2005 federal check-kiting conviction, finds himself in the limelight after surfacing on edited undercover videos released by a conservative group that alleges an orchestrated Democratic effort to conduct voter fraud and foment violent protest at rallies for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
