Deputy Minister Michael Oren Calls for Boycott Against Airbnb

Kulanu Knesset member and Deputy Minister Michael Oren has called for a general boycott of the global Airbnb vacation rental listing service, based in San Francisco. JNS Airbnb to remove its rental listings in Judea and Samaria The online marketplace and hospitality service Airbnb announced on Monday that it will no longer permit listings in Judea and Samaria due to what it alleges as “Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank that are at the core of the dispute between Israelis and Palestinians,” according to a company statement.

Not only did AirBNB specifically target “Israeli settlements,” according to Professor Eugene Kontorovich of George Mason Law, they’ve announced that they will only disallow listings in Israeli settlements when those listings are owned by Jews. In other words, if a Jew owns an apartment in East Jerusalem, that won’t be allowed for listing; if an Arab owns an apartment in the same neighborhood, it’s fine for listing.
