Zohran Mamdani Sides with the Anti-Israel Mob

…It’s important to understand what will come next. If Israel and Israel’s supporters are violating international law simply by existing, then all Jewish spaces that don’t disavow Israel will be legitimate targets. That is what the anti-Zionist movement is doing with these so-called synagogue protests. First it was Borough Park. Then it was Park East Synagogue. Next it will be Jewish preschools that fly Israeli flags next to American ones. So let this week be a warning for every New Yorker who despises antisemitism and believes Israel has a right to exist. Zohran Mamdani is not on your side. Make no mistake, the crowd that swarmed Park East Synagogue on Wednesday evening was not protesting a violation of international law, as Mamdani’s spokesperson would have you believe. As a student at Bowdoin College, he co-founded his school’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, the Hamas-supporting group now banned from several campuses for alleged material support of terrorism. He has crooned about his love for the Holy Land Five, terrorists convicted in 2009 for materially supporting Hamas.  Mamdani has repeatedly refused to condemn the slogan beloved by anti-Israel rioters—“globalize the Intifada”—which is effectively a call for violence.

Last week, outside Park East Synagogue, the NYPD under Commissioner Jessica Tisch chose the latter. New Yorkers watched it happen in real time: a mob descended on a synagogue, blocked its entrance, and terrorized congregants — and the police, whose very mandate is to prevent this kind of menace, fumbled their responsibilities so comprehensively that an apology is almost insulting.
