The Syrian Civil War has displaced an estimated 9 million Syrians, and hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees reaching Europe. The Islamic State (IS) said they will infiltrate Syrian refugee waves with IS terrorists, and in September claimed they sent at least 4,000 terrorists to Europe disguised as Syrian refugees. The Paris attacks on November 13, 2015 have drawn fear and criticism of Europe’s open borders policy of accepting Syrian refugees, as one of the attackers identified as Ahmad-al-Mohammad was found dead with a Syrian passport. The Syrian refugee crisis has now made its way to the United States. In the wake of the Paris attacks, is Europe’s management of these refugees a lesson for the United States as it prepares to accept thousands of Syrians escaping war-torn Syria? The FBI has ongoing ISIS investigations in every one of the U.S.’ fifty states. And the female shooter who carried out the horrific San Bernardino, Calif. attacks on Dec. 2nd with her husband had pledged allegiance to IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on Facebook.
