University of Michigan regents won’t divest; oppose Israel sanctions

Members of the University of Michigan’s Board of Regents have declined to form a committee to investigate divesting the university’s endowment from certain companies alleged to commit human rights violations against Palestinians. Six of the eight Board of Regents members signed a joint statementThursday, Dec. 14, noting that they strongly opposed any action involving the boycott, divestment or sanction of Israel. Regents Shauna Ryder Diggs and Kathy White did not sign the statement.
