Glick: “If the government remains politically stable, if the military continues its brilliant fight in Gaza and if U.S. opinion remains supportive, Jerusalem can flip Hamas’s machinations on its head.”

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer’s obscene call for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ouster from power on the Senate floor on Thursday was the latest sign that Hamas’s strategy is working. On the “Caroline Glick Show” this week, U.S. Military Academy professor Col. John Spencer, who chairs West Point’s Urban Warfare Studies Program,  explained that the terrorist organization’s goal for victory is a concerted political-military strategy. Hamas, he said, knew that Israeli Defense Forces would respond with force to its Oct. 7 assault in southern Israel. “They wanted Israel’s counterattack, and then they wanted to hold in the tunnels and use the hostages just to buy time for the international community—namely, the United States—to stop the IDF in their operations.” READ MORE

A question for Senator Schumer: “Do you think that calling for the overthrow of the democratically elected leader of Israel will help you and your political party with radically anti-Israel and anti-American Jew hating voters located in certain districts in Michigan, Minnesota and other potential swing states?”

Rachel Timoner, the clergy at Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope, Brooklyn, where Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) spends Yom Kippur and where his daughter got married, on Saturday told Politico that “In this speech, he said what most of us think.” She was referring to the Senate Majority Leader’s call on Israel to go to new elections ASAP so that they and the Biden administration can finally rid themselves of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu…“I think that he said out loud what the overwhelming majority of American Jews are saying to each other, which is that Bibi Netanyahu is making the world less safe for Jews and making Israel less safe for Israelis.” And how does the elected Israeli prime minister (leading a 76 to 54 majority coalition government) make the world and Israel less safe for Jews? Timoner explains: “Netanyahu himself has said that he completely opposes a two-state solution. And so, he is an obstacle to peace.”READ MORE

CITY JOURNAL With Guardians Like These: Chuck Schumer’s recent comments about Israel exhibit arrogance and ignorance. Instead of coercing Israel, Schumer should pressure the international community to withdraw support from the aged and corrupt Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas—now in the 18th year of his four-year term and disliked by 90 percent of Palestinians. Moving on from Hamas and Abbas is the only way moderate Palestinians might come forward as partners for peace. Israelis will reckon with Netanyahu and his failure to protect their country at a time of their choosing. Meantime, the self-styled shomer should bite his tongue.

Robert Henoch, a former federal prosecutor, former Manhattan Assistant District Attorney, former US Army officer, and New York voter has written a strong letter to Senator Schumer, a passage of which is below. Send a copy of this letter to Senator Schumer

Dear Senator Schumer,

Yesterday there were media reports that you have called for elections in Israel and the removal of the Prime Minister in Israel. It is not appropriate for the Senate Majority Leader of the United States Senate to call for the overthrow of a leader of a democratically elected country. Have you ever called for new elections in France, or Britain, or Italy, or any other democratic country? Has any other US Senate Majority Leader ever done so? Israel is a sovereign democracy.

Do you think that calling for the overthrow of the democratically elected leader of Israel will help you and your political party with radically anti-Israel and anti- American Jew hating voters located in certain districts in Michigan, Minnesota and other potential swing states? Should the desire for power and reelection govern all of your actions? Should it be your sole or even your primary motivation in deciding on US policy?

You and the President and the President’s staff and his supporters continue to make false accusations against Israel, the IDF and Netanyahu based on Hamas’ obviously false casualty numbers. Why do you wish to feed the narrative that Israel is at fault for the Palestinian invasion of October 7 in which Palestinians murdered, gang raped, beheaded, set on fire, and kidnapped Jews, US citizens, and citizens of at least another half dozen countries?

In an act of brutality in the West Bank city of Jenin, a 19-year-old Palestinian was executed [tortured and beheaded] by his twin brother for allegedly collaborating with Israeli security forces, according to Palestinian media reports. Karim Jabarin, a member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terror group, was caught and confessed his alleged crimes of working with Israel before he was killed by his brother and other PIJ operatives, Palestinian media reported. Crowds of onlookers reportedly kicked and slapped Jabarin’s body, cursing him. His family disowned the young man and said, “We don’t know him,” according to the reports. Videos purporting to show the scene circulated on social media. READ MORE

Qatar prepared to expel Hamas leaders if asked by the US, adding “that no such request has been made since”

Qatar emir proposed expelling Hamas officials in meet with Blinken days after Oct. 7
Jacob Magid
March 14, 2024

Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani proposed expeling Hamas’s leaders from Doha during a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken days after the terror group’s October 7 onslaught, two officials familiar with the matter told The Times of Israel on Wednesday. The proposal was made in somewhat of a roundabout way during the emir’s opening remarks at an October 13 closed-door meeting in Doha with Blinken. Thani began by expressing his horror over Hamas’s attack in which some 1,200 people in Israel were slaughtered and another 253 were abducted into Gaza. He then asked whether it was time for the US to ask Qatar to expel the Hamas’s leaders, the two officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity. READ MORE

…The list of co-signees provided to Variety Monday morning covers a broad swath of the industry including actors (Debra Messing, Tovah Feldshuh), executives (Gary Barber, Gail Berman), creators (Amy Sherman-Palladino), directors (Eli Roth, Rod Lurie), producers (Lawrence Bender, Amy Pascal, Hawk Koch, Sherry Lansing) and representatives (UTA’s Jake Fenton, Gersh’s Jeffrey Greenberg, attorney Craig Emmanuel)…The group’s statement says: “We refute our Jewishness being hijacked for the purpose of drawing a moral equivalence between a Nazi regime that sought to exterminate a race of people, and an Israeli nation that seeks to avert its own extermination.”….the statement adds, “The use of words like ‘occupation’ to describe an indigenous Jewish people defending a homeland that dates back thousands of years, and has been recognized as a state by the United Nations, distorts history. It gives credence to the modern blood libel that fuels a growing anti-Jewish hatred around the world, in the United States, and in Hollywood.” READ MORE

“The belief that Israel is built on stolen Arab land has become orthodoxy among the anti-Israel movement. It is dangerous fiction in need of correction”

MORAL CLARITY
The Desperate Lies of ‘No Peace on Stolen Land’
Nachum Kaplan
March 12, 2024

“No peace on stolen land” is a battle cry at many pro-Palestinian rallies. The stolen land narrative is a powerful lie designed to delegitimize Israel. It has made its way into media, academia, and policy-making discourse. It is a lie that makes the impossible task of correcting something that never happened a requirement for peace. How Israel was created is well documented, but the propaganda has been so effective that few people know it. Many useful idiots for the Islamist Hamas murder machine refuse to learn the history because it undermines their worldview, in what is surely some kind of derangement. READ MORE

Palestinian Authority police officers embroiled in terror

Almost 80 members of the U.S.-trained and armed Palestinian Authority security forces have been implicated in acts of terrorism against Israeli civilians and military personnel in the past three years alone, according to research published by the Jerusalem-based Regavim Movement think tank on Friday. The report, titled Officers by Day, Terrorists by Night provides a detailed account of dozens of cases in which P.A. police officers “turned their Western-supplied guns against the State of Israel,” Regavim said. Regavim’s research primarily relies on official “martyrdom proclamations” released by the P.A.’s ruling Fatah faction and Ramallah’s security organs. The study focuses exclusively on P.A. employees with terror links and does not include countless attacks perpetrated by Fatah members. READ MORE

They dismiss the huge salaries the PA pays to terrorists incarcerated in Israeli prisons and to the families of terrorists who have been killed. They ignore the survey published 100 days after the outbreak of the Gaza war which revealed that around 82 per cent of Palestinian Arabs in Judea and Samaria support the October 7 pogrom, and that support for Hamas among the Arabs in Judea and Samaria rose from 12 per cent in September 2023 to 44 per cent in November-December 2023.

Oct. 7 victims’ families sue Palestinian Authority and Hamas: ‘They will pay for their actions

…”The economic war against the terrorists is the only way to defeat them and prevent the next murder; soon they will pay dearly for their actions,” said Morris Schneider, a plaintiff in the lawsuit, who is the brother of the late Margit Silberman and uncle of Shiri Bibas, who is still being held captive with her two children in Gaza. Her husband, Yarden is also a Hamas hostage. According to the lawsuit: “The Palestinian Authority funds the Gaza Strip, including the Hamas Government directly, by investing in civil infrastructure, salaries for public employees and officials, and payment of salaries to prisoners and family members of shahids (martyrs) from the terrorist organization.” In this first lawsuit filed against the Palestinian Authority since the outbreak of the war, the family members are demanding compensation of 100 million shekels per plaintiff. Highland Park small town politics sees Jeff Hoobler, co-owner of Ravinia Brewing Company, being forced off City Council

Highland Park councilman announces resignation date due to liquor license dispute; open to staying ‘if the legislation changes’
Chloe Hills
March 19, 2024

Highland Park City Councilman Jeff Hoobler submitted his letter of resignation from the council Monday, just over a month after city staff and elected officials learned of a city law that bars elected officials from holding liquor licenses, an oversight that compromised his position on the council…Elected in April 2023, Hoobler was the top vote-getter, despite being the only candidate not publicly endorsed by Mayor Nancy Rotering…An opportunity to amend the Prohibition-era law was before the council in February, but Rotering and council members Anthony Blumberg and Kim Stone rejected the proposal. Three other council members supported the amendment, and wanted to swiftly correct the city error. READ MORE

THE RECORD NORTH SHORE Highland Park Councilmember Jeff Hoobler says he will resign amid liquor-license controversy During that meeting, Councilmember Annette Lidewar proposed a motion to get rid of the clause, but Mayor Nancy Rotering and Councilmembers Tony Blumberg and Kim Stone voted against the measure and it failed. The proposed change would have allowed Hoobler to hold a license and remain on the council…The council may in April take another vote to amend the liquor-license code. Hoobler’s resignation would go into effective following that meeting.

March 14, 2024

More than half of the evacuees from Israel’s south have returned to their homes, according to a government official working on rehabilitating the region. According to the official, 32,000 out of the 60,000 people who were evacuated by the government from locales within a 7-kilometer radius (4.3 miles) of the border with Gaza are back in their communities. The official spoke to The Times of Israel on Thursday on condition of anonymity, citing the fact that he is not part of the government ministries authorized to speak to the media about rehabilitation. Another 22,000 southern evacuees are living in about 180 government-subsidized hotels across the country. The rest are renting homes and receiving a subsidy of about NIS 6,000 ($1,650) per month per adult. READ MORE
