A recently circulated Arabic-language video appears to show how Israeli forces captured Dr. Marwan al-Hams, a Gaza physician who served the Hamas terrorist organization and was involved in handling the body of Lt. Hadar Goldin, an Israeli soldier killed and taken during the 2014 Gaza war. Last week it was reported that al-Hams was detained in July during a special forces operation in the al-Mawasi area of southern Gaza. The new video, posted online by an unidentified source, claims he was lured to the location after being told he would be filmed for a documentary about him titled “Hero of Gaza.” The footage includes clips of al-Hams speaking to a woman with a French accent who allegedly recruited him for the supposed film project. Captions say the woman “succeeded in drawing him into an ambush and deceiving him.” READ MORE

…The truth is that reports of “settler violence” are overwhelmingly exaggerated and distorted. A report published in the summer by Regavim, the Israeli organisation that monitors Judea and Samaria, found that some 90 per cent of incidents of violence attributed to Jewish residents by the United Nations in recent years were fabricated. Such incidents were either misclassified as attacks by Jews on Arabs, whereas they were, in fact, Arab attacks on Jews, or they involved anti-Israel provocations orchestrated by Palestinian and foreign left-wing activist groups. Video footage has shown such incidents in which Arabs launch violent attacks on Israelis who are being set up to react with force. That reaction is filmed by far-left activists and selectively edited to exclude the provocation, and then the video is made available to the United Nations or Western media outlets. In any event, Arabs attack the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria an estimated 60 times more frequently than attacks upon them by Jews. READ MORE

The plan-framed as a two-year “stabilization” mission, with responsibilities from border security to training a Palestinian Arab police force-may sound like a sensible compromise to diplomats in conference rooms. In practice, it would tie Israel’s hands at the very moment it needs sovereign control over its security decisions. Israel’s opposition is not mere reflex. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior ministers have made clear that Jerusalem will determine which foreign contingents are acceptable and which are categorically not. The Israeli delegation was made up of 26 former hostages, including 17 of the 20 living captives who were released in the deal that took force in October. Among those 17 was Matan Angrest, who Trump singled out for praise. “Because of his service in the IDF, Matan was subjected to severe beatings, even at times losing consciousness. Israel, the Middle East’s only liberal democracy, is the favorite target of the world’s apartheid accusers, even as nearly every Muslim-majority state practices the real thing. Saudi Arabia bans churches; Iran and Afghanistan enforce gender apartheid so literal it could be photographed; the Gulf states prohibit conversion out of Islam; minorities across the region live under systems of de facto or de jure segregation. Meanwhile, Arabs in Israel vote, serve as diplomats, sit on the Supreme Court, and run hospitals. If Israel is “apartheid,” then words have no meaning.
