Supreme Court to hear case on Palestinian Authority’s ‘martyr’ payments

The Supreme Court is set to hear a case in the coming months to decide whether American victims of Palestinian terror attacks can sue the Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian Authority for damages based on support for such attacks through the “pay for slay” program that compensates individuals who have carried out attacks as well as their families. The Supreme Court cases — Fuld v. Palestine Liberation Organization and United States v. Palestine Liberation Organization, which the court will hear jointly — pertain to a decades-long series of litigation efforts by American terror victims and their families to sue the PLO and PA. In one case in 2015, a lower court awarded a group of victims more than $650 million. READ MORE

JNS PA signals offer to drop ‘pay for slay’ … if US repeals Taylor Force Act Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Palestinian Authority, suggested that payments to prisoners could be based on their socioeconomic status and not on acts committed, according to a report.

JPOST White House confirms war crimes prosecutor first target of ICC sanctions International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan is the first person to be hit with economic and travel sanctions authorized by US President Donald Trump that target the war crimes tribunal over investigations of US citizens or US allies…Reuters reported on Friday that Khan had been designated by Washington. The sanctions, which repeat action Trump took during his first term, include freezing of US assets of those designated and barring them and their families from visiting the United States.
