“The criticism of the tactics and the fact that it inspired some laughter from besieged Israelis speak volumes about the moral sickness afflicting many Western liberals”

Why the reactions to Israel’s strikes on Hezbollah matter
Jonathan Tobin
September 20, 2024

…More important was the angry reaction inspired among many Western liberals who denounced the attacks because they don’t believe in Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorists and because they no longer believe that any Western nation has the right to fight even the most just wars. The claim that this was an Israeli “escalation” is entirely untrue since it is Hezbollah that initiated the current round of strife. No matter how many terrorists were killed, maimed or wounded in the strikes, the Iranian proxy shows no sign of halting its firing on not just northern Israel but now other areas since Hamas’s Oct. 7 massacre by Hamas in the south. Hezbollah’s rockets have essentially depopulated Israeli communities along the country’s northern border, turning tens of thousands of its citizens into evacuees holing up in hotels in the center of the country alongside those who were similarly affected by the assault on southern Israel. Thousands of non-Jews order mezuzahs after a pro-Israel Christian puts one on her door in solidarity
Jackie Hajdenberg
September 25, 2024

A Jewish nonprofit that distributes mezuzahs has been deluged with thousands of requests after a Catholic sitcom actress launched a campaign encouraging people to put up the ritual object in support of the Jewish community. Patricia Heaton, known for her starring roles in “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “The Middle,” announced the campaign Monday as part of her nonprofit, The October 7 Coalition, a Christian group founded after the Hamas attack in Israel last year to support the Jewish community and Israel. “As we head toward the one year anniversary of October 7th, I ask that you please join me in the #MyzuzahYourzuzah campaign to show solidarity with your Jewish friends and neighbors, fight antisemitism and bless your household…” READ MORE

“‘Refusing to participate on a panel with a Zionist is a bare-assed excuse for antisemitism.’ For state funded-colleges, it also might be illegal”

University Cancels Panel Because Author Is a ‘Zionist’
Joe Nocera
September 23, 2024

For the last seven years, the New York State Writers Institute has held an annual book festival at the University at Albany. It’s where notable authors come together and discuss big ideas like climate change, feminism, and immigration. But this year, the festival, which was held on Saturday, was disrupted because two authors refused to discuss their books with the panel’s moderator. Why? Because she is a “Zionist.” The Zionist in question was Elisa Albert, a 46-year-old progressive feminist author whose novels—she’s written three of them—are dark comedies about subjects like modern motherhood and fame. She had agreed to moderate the panel months earlier, and she was looking forward to it. READ MORE

NEW YORK POST Bill would bar colleges from accepting money, gifts from terror-supporting countries Colleges and universities would be barred from accepting financial support or gifts from foreign nations that support terrorism under bipartisan legislation introduced by two New York House members, who said taking such funds is “an act of national self-sabotage.” The ban proposed by Reps. Ritchie Torres (D-Bronx) and Andrew Garbarino (R-LI) would cover China, Russia, North Korea, Iran and other countries that support terrorism…“Foreign influence has no place in our education system — especially when it’s aimed at spreading antisemitism and anti-American sentiment on our college campuses,” Garbarino said. “For far too long, radical organizations like Students for Justice in Palestine have been propped up by foreign entities with connections to terrorism,” he continued.

Democrat Senator Fetterman: “If you have to pick a side, the easiest choice I’ve ever made in my life is to be on Israel’s side”

MISHPACHA
Pittsburgh Steel: Senator John Fetterman Stands Tall as Israel’s Ironclad Defender
Gedalia Guttentag
September 17, 2024

In the moral morass of post-October 7 politics, as American lawmakers were silenced by the mob baying for Israel’s blood, one politician stood tall. At 6’8”, John Fetterman, the once progressive junior senator from Pennsylvania, has emerged as a man of steely conviction in a party whose left flank has moved to embrace the Hamas narrative, a surprising yet steadfast defender of the Jewish state in its darkest hour…From the moment he stood draped in an Israeli flag at the rally for Israel in Washington, D.C., last November, fathoming Fetterman has practically become a Jewish parlor game. Is Fetterman a Jewish name? Can Jews even grow to six feet, eight inches? How did a one-time progressive become such a fierce advocate for Israel? READ MORE

Israel Blamed for October 7; Pro-Israel Activist Blamed for Being Assaulted
Dexter Van Zile
September 20, 2024

…On the evening of the attack, Gannon made his way to a busy intersection just over half a mile away from his parents’ house in Newton, Mass. Once there, he saw several activists who had gathered on the sidewalk to call for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. Gannon, a Dungeons and Dragons aficionado who has a penchant for playing guitar, drums and bass and posting video of his performances on Instagram, made obscene and juvenile gestures at the protesters, accusing them of supporting “genocide.” After working himself into a frenzy, Gannon ran across the street through heavy traffic, punched a 47-year-old Iraqi war veteran in the face and then tackled him to the ground, smashing his victim’s head on the sidewalk. Hungarian company BAC, licensed to use the Apollo Gold branding, was shell company set up by Israel for the purpose of manufacturing pagers for the Hezbollah terror group

ARUTZ SHEVA
NYT: Israel founded shell company to sabotage Hezbollah
September 19, 2024

The BAC company, which manufactured the pagers that exploded in Lebanon on Tuesday, was set up by Israel as part of a complex operation, The New York Times reported. The Hungarian-based BAC held a license to use the Taiwanese company Apollo Gold’s branding. The explosions, which on Tuesday affected pagers and on Wednesday affected hand-held radios, targeted Hezbollah terrorists almost exclusively: Out of over 3,000 injured and less than 40 dead, just four of the victims were allegedly unconnected to Hezbollah – among them the son of a Hezbollah-affiliated Lebanese MP. The son himself, however, had on his person a Hezbollah pager, casting doubts on claims that he was a civilian. READ MORE

TIMES OF ISRAEL Nasrallah says device blasts ‘could be seen as declaration of war,’ vows vengeance Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah conceded on Thursday that the terror group had suffered a “major and unprecedented” blow this week when thousands of its communications devices suddenly exploded, but vowed that the Lebanon-based terror organization would recover and not lay off its attacks on Israel after months of cross-border fire. In a televised public address, Nasrallah blamed Israel for the pager and walkie-talkie attacks of Tuesday and Wednesday, which he said constituted “an unprecedented massacre.”

“At this point, we have everything… The warehouse is at full capacity,” a Hamas terrorist can be heard saying in an intercepted recording

Hamas warehouses in Gaza are overflowing with stolen humanitarian aid
September 13, 2024

Hamas terrorists have confiscated so much humanitarian aid that the terror group is struggling to find space in warehouses to store all of it, according to intercepted communications between Hamas operatives that were played during an episode of N12’s “Ulpan Shishi” on Friday. These intercepted communications feature Hamas operatives discussing the movement of goods from overflowing humanitarian aid warehouses to Khan Yunis…They also mentioned how the recordings not only expose how Hamas takes control of these shipments but also highlight the absurdity of the situation—the terrorist organization is running out of space to store the aid. The decision to suspend flights to Tel Aviv is contributing to Israel’s isolation. So why are the three major American carriers refusing to fly there?

Are U.S. Airlines ‘Playing Into Iran’s Game’?
Jay Solomon
September 15, 2024

For most of the past year, none of the three major American carriers—United Airlines, American Airlines, or Delta—have flown to Israel, citing the Gaza war and the security threats posed by Tehran and its military allies. And none of these airlines have offered definitive time frames for when their flights might resume. This has left Israel’s national carrier, El Al, as the only direct connection between the country and its closest ally and economic partner on the other side of the world, and has sent airfares between the U.S. and Israel skyrocketing. “Biden’s failure to confront Hamas, Iran and Qatar has emboldened these forces of terror”

GATESTONE
To Stop Hamas, Confront Qatar and Iran
Majid Rafizadeh
September 14, 2024

…The Biden-Harris administration’s lifting of sanctions is what enabled Iran to profit to the tune of an estimated $100 billion, used for waging terror against Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia — and the US. Just since October, Iran and its terror proxies and militias have attacked US troops in the Middle East more than 160 timeskilling three and wounding more than 120 — all while President Joe Biden falsely claimed that under his watch, no US troops were killed. That does not even include the 13 American troops who were murdered in Kabul while the Biden-Harris administration surrendered to the Taliban terrorist group….Most infuriating is the inaction of the Biden-Harris administration. Their failure to confront Hamas, Iran and Qatar — the other godfather of Hamas and all other Islamic terror groups and poisoner-in-chief of the minds of students in US universities, to which it has donated more than $6 billion — has emboldened these forces of terror. JNS Harris touts role in holding up 2,000-pound bombs to Israel U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, in her first solo interview, said she had supported the Biden administration’s decision to pause the delivery of certain munitions to Israel amid the country’s 11-month war with Hamas in Gaza…She offered this as an example of a concrete action the White House had taken to pressure Israel to agree to a ceasefire deal.

FDD Rich Goldberg: 10 Things Washington Should Do to Hold Hamas Accountable

  • Hamas leadership: Support Israel’s campaign to kill or capture Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and other Hamas leaders at large, both inside and outside Gaza.
  • Hamas and partner networks: Within the United States and overseas, lead a crackdown on Hamas networks.
  • Munitions to Israel: With U.S partners, publicly send Israel a series of additional munitions to help it wage an offensive against Iran’s terrorist proxies.
  • Qatar: Bring immediate and intense pressure to bear on Qatar to cut off all political and financial lifelines it provides to Hamas….

“In a battle of civilizations, Israel is fighting to show that a free and decent society can defend itself against barbarians who have virtually all the cards stacked in their favor”

THE FUTURE OF JEWISH
The Greatest War
Nachum Kaplan
Septebmer 19, 2024

World War One was called “The Great War” for its hitherto unmatched scale and horror. Israel’s war against Hamas might not be as big, but when it comes to civilizational importance and complexity, Israel is fighting “The Greatest War.” Never has a state, let alone one as tiny as Israel, faced such a vast and disparate range of adversaries, bent not just on victory, but on the annihilation of the Jewish nation and the civilization it spawned — the West. At stake is the nothing less than the moral question of whether a free and decent society can defend itself against savages. If the answer is a negative, then civilization, as we have come to know it, is defenseless and will crumble. READ MORE
