In Win for Obama, Democrats Will Hold Off on Iran Sanctions

In a major concession to the White House, a group of Democratic senators has vowed not to support passing Iran sanctions legislation until at least late March, giving the administration more time to negotiate. Sen. Robert Menendez, who co-authored the bill with Republican Mark Kirk of Illinois, made the announcement during a Senate Banking Committee hearing Tuesday morning. He and “many” other Democrats signed a letter to President Obama offering the administration until March 24 to strike up a deal with Iran, Menendez said Tuesday, before they vote for the legislation, which will require at least six Democratic votes.The announcement represents a major victory for the White House…READ MORE
