Dear media, Hamas couldn’t do it without you: Too many in the press want to shield terrorist group
Sean Durns
November 23, 2023

…Hamas tightly controls access to manipulate the media. Only certain journalists are allowed into Gaza to report, and they are often set up with Hamas-approved “fixers” who introduce them to approved sources for approved stories. Those who fail to comply know what they can expect. The tactic of intimidation, also employed by al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), among others, is ever-present. In 2014, a France24 reporter dared to note that Hamas was firing rockets from a kindergarten. Hamas operatives later showed up at his hotel room and imprisoned him in the basement of Shifa Hospital, one of their primary headquarters. READ MORE

ALGEMEINER New York Times Kids Section Insists Hamas Wants a Two-State Solution, Blames Israel for ‘Crime’ of Starving Gaza It’s terrible enough when the New York Times inflicts biased, factually inaccurate coverage of Israel on its adult readers, who are presumably able to see the nonsense for what it is. It’s a whole new — and worse — level of depravity for the Times to inflict that bias and inaccuracy on children, poisoning impressionable young minds with falsehoods…Most astonishingly of all, the Times whitewashes Hamas’ war aims. Rather than telling the truth, which is that Hamas wants to kill all Jews, the Times tells the child readers, “For many years, Hamas called for Israel to be destroyed, but in 2017 it said it would accept a smaller, independent Palestinian country alongside it.”

“Yesterday I bought a tear-gas spray canister at a military-equipment surplus store” a “precaution,” driven by a surge of antisemitism in Europe

…Some community members are changing how they live, Segal said. Students no longer wear uniforms. Kindergarten classes don’t leave the building for field trips or the playground next door. Some members no longer call taxis, or they hesitate to order deliveries to their homes. Hebrew-speaking in public is fading. Some wonder if they should move to Israel. “I hear more and more from people from the Jewish community who say they feel safer and more comfortable in Israel now than in Germany, despite the war and all the rockets,” Segal said. “Because they don’t have to hide there.”…Faced with fears that antisemitism will spread, communities are taking action… READ MORE

The boycott of Ivy League schools is so severe that parents are growing concerned that this new slate of “Plan B” schools will become more competitive than ever

NEW YORK POST
Wealthy Jewish families are rejecting the Ivy League for ‘Plan B’ schools
Rikki Schlott
November 27, 2023

If you want to improve your kid’s chances of getting into an elite university — and you can afford it — it certainly doesn’t hurt to start donating major cash to the school as early as possible. But some wealthy Jewish families who have done just that at schools like Harvard and Columbia, sometimes beginning when their children were in first grade, are now writing it off as a loss. Following an explosion of pro-Palestine rallies and anti-Israel sentiment in the Ivy League, some families of high-school seniors are crossing the schools off their application lists. READ MORE

An orthodox rabbi grapples with the evident shortcomings of America’s political class

WALL STREET JOURNAL
Lessons in Leadership From the Hebrew Bible
Barton Swaim
November 23, 2023

America’s political class isn’t at its best. Public life lately seems to consist mainly of self-generated disasters, easily preventable crises and media-driven hysteria. Political leaders behave like spoiled children, outrage the public to no purpose, and loudly champion ideas they know to be infeasible. Worst of all are the decisions apparently calculated to achieve the opposite of their stated goals: pandemic measures that didn’t mitigate the virus and shredded the social fabric and inflicted lasting damage on children; climate regulations that punish the poor and working class but don’t affect the climate; a military withdrawal so poorly planned that it provokes a new war; billions sent to a regime that funds genocidal attacks on an American ally; ill-advised, sometimes cockamamie prosecutions of a former president that make him more likely to regain the presidency…READ MORE

“When you hear about the 150 Palestinians returned as part of the hostage deal, you must understand this: These are terrorists who were in Israeli jails for stabbings or attempted stabbings, hurling firebombs or stones, incitement to violence, and other crimes. The hostages are civilians — innocent children and mothers brutally abducted by Hamas from their beds”

No Thanksgiving for Americans Held Hostage by Hamas in Gaza
November 23, 2023

As Americans celebrate Thanksgiving, the Iran-backed terrorist group Hamas continues to hold at least nine U.S. citizens hostage in Gaza. The negotiated deal reached between Hamas and Israel announced on November 22 to have Hamas release 50 hostages — largely women and children — is expected to result in the release of three Americans. One of them is a three-year-old child whose parents were killed by Hamas on October 7. The fate of the additional U.S. hostages is unknown, as Hamas has failed to provide access or proof of life to the International Committee of the Red Cross. READ MORE

JNS Qatar: Truce starts Friday, 13 hostages to be freed in first batch The ceasefire between Israel and the Hamas terror organization will go into effect at 7 a.m. on Friday, a spokesperson for Qatar’s foreign ministry said during a press conference in Doha on Thursday. Hamas has agreed to release the first 13 hostages at 4 p.m. on Friday, spokesman Majed Al Ansari announced. “They will be 13 in number, all women and children, and those hostages who are from the same families will be put together within the same batch,” said Al Ansari.

TIMES OF ISRAEL David Horovitz: Why Israel agreed to the hostage deal, and how Hamas may intend to exploit it As the ground operation continued, however, some war cabinet members made clear that the entire approach to the fate of the hostages had gradually changed. This culminated on Saturday night with war cabinet observer Gadi Eisenkot privately telling families of the hostages that the release of their loved ones was the first priority of the war, even ahead of destroying Hamas, and war cabinet minister Benny Gantz stating at a press conference that Israel potentially has “decades” in which to destroy Hamas while the imperative to secure the release of the hostages was urgent.

JNS Jonathan Tobin: America shouldn’t let Hamas bargain its way to victory If the United States continues to back Israel’s campaign to eliminate Hamas control of the Gaza Strip and to wipe out all of its military capabilities, then the hostage negotiations and the ceasefire will be no more than a brief pause that won’t impact the outcome of the war. The Biden administration has sought to micromanage and second-guess Israel’s counter-offensive from the start of this war. It also has political reasons to want the conflict to end regardless of what that will mean for the future of Israel and the Palestinians.

100 Jewish young men and women make ‘aliyah’ to enlist in IDF
Noam Dvir
November 20, 2023

Some 100 young Jewish men and women from around the world have decided to make aliyah and enlist in the Israel Defense Forces as Israel wages war against the Hamas terrorist organization. In a month, they will put on their uniforms. Meanwhile, they are completing a preparatory course run by the Defense Ministry’s Defense and Society Department. The course is taking place at an immigrant absorption center in Karmiel, in the Galilee—an area where strikes by the Lebanese-based Hezbollah terror group are a daily occurrence and the threat of a major confrontation looms. During the four-week program, the participants will prepare physically and mentally for their service, study Hebrew and get to know Israeli society. READ MORE

Survey finds majority in the West Bank support the Oct 7 massacre
Guy Azriel & Paz Grace
November 16, 2023

An opinion poll conducted by Birzeit University’s Arab World for Research & Development (AWRAD) revealed that a majority of surveyed Palestinians in the West Bank support the October 7 massacre carried out by Hamas, and an even wider majority have a positive view of the various terrorist factions. After over 1,200 people were brutally murdered and over 240 taken hostage, including children and elderly, many civilians tortured and raped, the survey showed that 68 percent in the West Bank strongly supported the massacres and kidnapping, while another 16 percent supported to some extent. Asked on their view of various entities, respondents answered overwhelmingly in support of the military wings of the terrorist organizations; Palestinian Islamic Jihad with 84 percent; al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades with 80 percent, and al-Qassam Brigades with the highest 89 percent, though Hamas as a whole received a lower 76 percent. TPS Gazans Confirm Terrorists Hide in Hospitals, Dress Up as Medical Personnel  Gazans in Israeli custody confirmed to interrogators that terror groups actively operated in Gaza hospitals and even deeply embedded themselves in the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in videos released by the Israel Defense Forces on Monday. So far, 500 Palestinians have been interrogated by Arabic speaking members of the IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 504 at a detention facility in southern Israel, the IDF said. In videos released by the military, three Palestinians explained to interrogators how terrorists from Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other groups would hide in the Shifa and Rantisi Hospitals.

‘Look us in the eye!’: 30,000 join Gaza hostages’ families on final march into Jerusalem
November 18, 2023

Family members of those missing and held hostage in Gaza were accompanied by thousands of Israelis on the fifth day of their march from Tel Aviv to the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem, which they were set to reach on Saturday afternoon. There was no immediate comment from police on how many people were marching toward Jerusalem, however protest organizers said there were tens of thousands walking to the capital. Channel 12 news said there were some 30,000 marchers. Kobi Ben Ami, who has two family members held in Gaza, told the outlet that the families were “begging” ministers to meet with them and tell them what they planned to do to return the hostages. Stephens: For Israelis, what “Cease-Fire Now” means is “Surrender Now.” No wonder they decline to heed the call.

NEW YORK TIMES
The ‘Cease-Fire Now’ Imposture
Bret Stephens
November 21, 2023

Of all that’s been said and written about the war between Israel and Hamas, nothing has cut through the mental fog quite so brightly as a remark this month from Hillary Clinton on “The View.” “Remember,” the former secretary of state said, “there was a cease-fire on Oct. 6 that Hamas broke by their barbaric assault on peaceful civilians and their kidnapping, their killing, their beheading, their terrible, inhumane savagery.” Those three words — “that Hamas broke” — aren’t trivial. They give the lie to the “Cease-Fire Now” mirage, or imposture, that has become a rallying cry at pro-Palestinian demonstrations. They are at the heart of what the war is about, and the key to how it can end. And they are the bright dividing line between those who would allow Hamas to get away with murder, and those who would refuse. READ MORE

FRONT PAGE MAG Lifestyles of the Rich and TerroristsThe three Hamas billionaires have stolen, from the people of Gaza, eleven billion dollars. They luxuriate in their residences, and luxury suites, in Doha, as well as in their villas in Beirut and Istanbul, where they have been photographed lolling on beds, working out in private gyms, flying about in their private planes, eating at the most expensive restaurants, completely indifferent to the conditions in which the people of Gaza live. Think of how many apartments, electricity plants, water purification plants could have been built in Gaza with those eleven billion dollars. The only people trying to help the Gazans directly — thus avoiding sending aid through the thieving Hamas rulers — are the Israelis, who until October 7 had been providing jobs to 20,000 people from Gaza..

Musk: X to suspend those advocating ‘genocide,’ ‘decolonization,’ ‘from river to sea’
November 20, 2023

Elon Musk, the billionaire tech entrepreneur who owns X (formerly Twitter), posted on the social network on Nov. 17: “At risk of stating the obvious, anyone advocating the genocide of *any* group will be suspended from this platform.” He did not respond to a comment from New York Post reporter Jon Levine, asking if Twitter would suspend Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), who posted that “from the river to the sea” is an “an aspirational call for freedom, human rights and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction or hate.” He did reply to someone who asked about Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, writing: “We have a ‘United Nations’ rule that exempts senior government officials who are recognized by the U.N. from suspension in the interests of maintaining international communications.” READ MORE
