Bennett takes on Lauder: Don’t blame Israel for U.S. Jews assimilating
by Herb Keinon
March 20, 2018

Education and Diaspora Minister Naftali Bennett politely but firmly disagreed with a New York Times Op-Ed written by World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder, implying Israel bears responsibility for the assimilation of Jewish millennials in the US. Speaking on Monday in Jerusalem at the Foreign Ministry-sponsored Sixth Global Forum for Combating Antisemitism, Bennett – just ahead of Lauder – said: “Ron, I read your piece in The New York Times – not a great piece. I very much respect you, but I disagree. Assimilation in America in not a result of Israeli policies, assimilation is the result of prosperity in AmericaREAD MORE

DC lawmaker apologizes for implying Jews control the weather

DC councilmember apologizes for Facebook video that embraced anti-Semitic conspiracy theory
by Jennifer Ortiz
March 19, 2018

A D.C. councilmember apologized Sunday night for posting a video on Facebook Friday that seemed to embrace an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that a wealthy Jewish family is controlling the weather. “I really do apologize,” said Councilmember Trayon White, D-Ward 8, on various social media platforms. “I work very closely with the Jewish community and never want to offend anyone, especially with anti-Semitic remarks.”…White said in the video. “It’s climate manipulation and D.C. keep talking about ‘We are a resilient city,’ and that’s a model based off the Rothschilds controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities, man. Be careful.” READ MORE

WASHINGTON POST The Rothschilds, a pamphlet by ‘Satan’ and conspiracy theories tied to a battle 200 years ago: In early 2011, a branch of the very rich Rothschild family bought a controlling stake in Weather Central…big news for conspiracy theorists: To them, it appeared the Rothschilds, a prominent Jewish family who made a fortune in European banking in the 1700s, wanted to control the weather and profit from natural disasters.

“Anti-Israel faculty reviewers worry the book will undermine the Palestinian narrative”

Silencing History: U.S. University Publishers Shun Book “Ending the Deir Yassin Myth”
by Miriam Elman
March 18, 2018

Why have American academic presses rejected a book manuscript by Dr. Eliezer Tauber, a former dean and highly-regarded Israeli history professor at Bar-Ilan University’s Department of Middle Eastern Studies? Tauber is an award-winning and prolific expert on the early phases of the Arab-Israeli conflict. By all accounts, his latest book about the April 9, 1948 battle in the Palestinian village of Deir Yassin has “many strengths” and provides the most comprehensive investigation to date of what was both a seminal event in Israel’s War of Independence and in the creation of the Palestinian refugee problem. New European sanctions would affect nuclear deal: Iran official
by Staff
March 17, 2018

Any new European sanctions against Iran will have a direct effect on the nuclear deal struck between world powers and Tehran, Iran’s deputy foreign minister [Abbas Araqchi] said Friday…“In case some European countries are following steps to put non-nuclear sanctions against Iran in order to please the American president, they will be making a big mistake…” Araqchi’s comments were in reaction to a Reuters report that Britain, France and Germany have proposed fresh EU sanctions on Iran over its ballistic missiles and its role in Syria’s war to try to persuade Washington to preserve the 2015 nuclear deal with Tehran. “ADL criticizes Israel for expelling illegal infiltrators in a meaningless act of virtue signalling, while Israel is one of the leading providers of aid to African countries”

The Chutzpah of Preaching Ethics to Israel
by Judith Bergman
March 12, 2018

Large parts of the West, including American Diaspora Jewish leaders, appear to have decided that unless Israel desists from its plan of deporting thousands of single, male Africans who infiltrated Israel illegally during the past decade or so, then the Jewish state is either deeply “racist” or inhumane. In any rate it is certainly, they claim, compromising its “Jewish values”. Now, there is nothing new in the fact that most people seem to love nothing better than a bit of virtue signaling, especially if it can be done at the expense of the Jewish state. READ MORE

BDS gets handed a devastating defeat at the University of Illinois
by Paul Miller
March 15, 2018

By a nearly 2-1 margin, students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign voted “no” to a proposed anti-Israel referendum calling for divestment from companies doing business with the Jewish state. Described as “a discriminatory referendum” by the Israel education group StandWithUs, the 3,133 votes against and 1,700 votes for divesting from the Jewish state represent one of the most lopsided defeats of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement in recent years.  StandWithUs congratulated more than half-a-dozen student groups and organizations, including Illini Hillel, Students Supporting Israel, AEPi and Illini Chabad…READ MORE

Firing Rex Tillerson Removed an Obstacle to Middle East Peace
by Caroline Glick
March 15, 2018

As Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was being fired on Tuesday, his central assumptions about the Palestinian conflict with Israel, which are shared by the entire Washington foreign policy establishment, literally blew up in Gaza. On Tuesday morning, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah’s convoy was attacked by a roadside bomb during an official visit in Hamas-controlled Gaza. Hamdallah was in Gaza to inaugurate a wastewater treatment facility sponsored by the World Bank. The facility was approved 14 years ago, but infighting between Hamas…and Fatah…blocked its operation time after time. IDF paratroopers teach US marines ‘lost art’ of tunnel combat
by Judah Ari Gross
March 13, 2018

Israeli paratroopers and US marines completed a series of exercises over the past week and a half aimed at sharing techniques and knowledge on beach-landings and aspects of urban warfare, as part of the joint Juniper Cobra exercise, officers said. For the Americans — specifically the US Marine Corps’ 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment — it meant learning how to fight in tunnels, something marines haven’t had to do since the Vietnam War, said battalion commander Lt. Col. Marcuz Mainz.  “It’s a lost art for us,” he said. READ MORE

“What happened in Deir Yassin in April 9, 1948, became a seminal event of Israel’s War of Independence”

JEWISH JOURNAL
The Truth of Deir Yassin
by Shmuel Rosner
February 28, 2018

Eliezer Tauber is an Israeli academic who specializes in the modern history of the Middle East. In the past decade, he dedicated a lot of time to writing a book about the so-called “massacre of Deir Yassin.” The result was a book arguing that there was no massacre in Deir Yassin. A detailed account of a fateful day, minute by minute, hour by hour. A convincing account. I’d be surprised to find any scholar whose familiarity with this event is more intimate. Tauber knows the names of everybody, he knows the time and the place where everybody was fighting, or hiding, or wounded, or killed. READ MORE
