“Princeton claims it fired me for a long-past offense—for which I was already punished—but the truth should worry everyone”

Princeton Fed Me to the Cancel Culture Mob

May 24, 2022

Nearly two years ago, I wrote in these pages, “I survived cancellation at Princeton.” I was wrong. The university where I taught for nearly a quarter of a century, and which promoted me to the tenured ranks in 2006, has revoked my tenure and dismissed me. Whoever you are and whatever your beliefs, this should terrify you. The issues around my termination aren’t easy to summarize. What is nearly impossible to deny (though Princeton does deny it) is that I have been subjected to “cultural double jeopardy,” with the university re-litigating a long-past offense—I had a consensual relationship with a 21-year-old student—for which I was already suspended for a year without pay well over a decade after my offense. “Enough. I cannot continue to support a coalition that in such a shameful way hounds the society from which I came,” MK writes

ISRAEL HAYOM (by agreement with JNS)
Israel could soon face another early election after coalition becomes minority in Knesset
May 19, 2022

Another member of Knesset said Thursday she was quitting the ruling coalition, leaving embattled Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in control of a crumbling minority government. Meretz lawmaker Ghaida Rinawie Zoabi’s announcement further whittles away Bennett’s hold on Israel’s 120-seat parliament, reducing the coalition to 59 seats. Two other legislators from his own party have already bolted. Rinawie Zoabi’s departure further raises the possibility of new parliamentary elections, less than a year after the government took office. While Bennett’s government remains in power, it is now even more hamstrung in parliament and will likely struggle to function. READ MORE

“Shin Bet said that a number of Israelis were already on the verge of traveling abroad in order to attend the fake “conference” and the exposure of the Iranian operations prevented this”

JERUSALEM POST
Shin Bet uncovers Iranian attempts to lure Israeli businessmen, academics
Tzvi Joffre
May 19, 2022

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) uncovered operations by Iranian intelligence to lure Israeli businessmen and academics abroad in order to kidnap or harm them and to gather intelligence, according to an announcement on Thursday. The Iranian operatives stole the identities of foreign and Israeli academics, journalists, reserve officers, businessmen and philanthropists and used the stolen identities and relevant cover stories in order to gather intelligence about Israelis and to lure them to locations abroad in order to kidnap or harm them. The operatives would send an email from an address that was similar to the authentic address used by the person whose identity had been stolen, changing just a letter or symbol, before asking the target to switch to a WhatsApp conversation. “It is painfully clear to anyone paying attention how much of the mainstream media, social media, and those who wish to destroy Israel are using the death of Abu Akleh to attack Israel”

JEWISH JOURNAL
The Three D’s and the Killing of Shireen Abu Akleh
Micha Danzig
May 14, 2022

So much of what has happened with the death of Shireen Abu Akleh is emblematic of the entire Arab-Israeli conflict. If you have been hiding under a rock for the past few days, here is a summary of what happened to long-time Al Jazeera reporter Abu Akleh this past Wednesday. After 19 Israelis were murdered over the past 45 days, with many of the murderers coming from the terrorist (Islamic Jihad and Hamas) hotbed that is Jenin (a city under the ostensible day to day control of the Palestinian Authority, which under the Oslo Accords, is supposed to act against terrorist groups in place like Jenin … but doesn’t) the Israeli army had to go into Jenin, and go after wanted Islamist Supremacist terrorists who had already attacked Israelis and/or were planning more attacks. Iran Is in Position for a Surprise Nuclear Breakout
Andrea Stricker
May 17, 2022

“Our nuclear program is advancing as planned and time is on our side,” an unnamed Iranian official bluntly told Reuters on May 5. “Oil sales have doubled,” noted Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi last Monday. In short, since the election of Joe Biden, Tehran has not only made impressive strides toward a nuclear weapons capability but repaired much of the financial damage done by U.S. sanctions. It’s plain to see the clerical regime is in no rush to negotiate a revised nuclear deal. What’s the hurry when both oil exports and enriched uranium stockpiles are surging? But the risk here is not just that Tehran keeps stalling. It is that protracted negotiations may provide cover for a nuclear breakout—that is, the production of enough weapons-grade uranium for one or more bombs. READ MORE

Batya Jerenberg
May 17, 2022

Dozens of Arabs rioted at Hadassah-University Medical Center on Mt. Scopus Monday, beating staff and destroying hospital equipment after a family member died in the ICU. The patient had been rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a drug overdose; attempts to revive him failed. When medical staff informed the eastern Jerusalem family of his death, they stormed into the department, hitting the personnel and trashing the nurses’ station, including medical gear and computers. Two staff members were lightly hurt in the melee before security guards and police arrived and restored order. The wounded received treatment in the hospital’s emergency room. READ MORE

‘I Don’t Understand’: Parents Of Slain US Veteran Call Out Biden For Reportedly Giving Aid To The Palestinian Authority
Jenny Taer
May 18, 2022

The parents of a U.S. veteran who was murdered by a Palestinian terrorist criticized the Biden administration for reportedly providing aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) despite its continued payments to terrorists in an interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation. Stuart and Robbi Force’s son, a U.S. veteran named Taylor, was brutally stabbed to death in 2016 in Tel Aviv, Israel by a Hamas terrorist whose family benefited from the PA’s martyrdom payment program, which provides cash rewards to terrorists and their families. The Forces spoke on Capitol Hill Wednesday alongside Republican Colorado Rep. Doug Lamborn, who introduced the Taylor Force Martyr Payment Prevention Act in 2022 and the previous 2018 Taylor Force Act, both of which seek to prevent aid to the PA’s “pay to slay” program. CCL shul members and Kehilat Chovevei Tzion take part in public safety training exercise
May 17, 2022

Concerned Citizens League Shul Members (CCLSM) staged a large-scale active shooter simulation at Kehilat Chovevei Tzion in Skokie recently, with the direction and supervision of the Skokie Police and Fire Department. Hatzalah Chicago also attended this drill. Simulations for responding to hostile fights within the synagogue and keeping people of concern out of the building, recognizing and dealing with suspicious individuals, and two full-scale active shooter drills were all part of the five-hour training program. The training exercise was the Chicagoland area’s first large-scale Synagogue active shooter drill…Given the surge in antisemitism, Naiditch feels that every Shul should hold and participate in such an event. Kate Winslet misled over Gaza conflict documentary

May 11, 2022

Kate Winslet has clarified to Jewish News her involvement in a new film on the Israel-Palestinian conflict released this week, whose co-director is closely linked to Hamas. The Oscar-winning actress provides the voice-over for Eleven Days In May, co-directed by Michael Winterbottom and Gaza-based Mohammed Sawwaf, who accuses Israel of “colonialism” and “apartheid”…Its opening sequence features news footage reporting on “Jewish settlers trying to expel Palestinians from their homes”, “vigils aggressively broken up by Israeli security forces”, “the expulsion of (Arab) residents in East Jerusalem”, “heavy-handed tactics by Israel police” and “Israeli nationalists marching though Muslim quarters.” READ MORE
