History has shown that Israel is more than capable of addressing its human rights issues. It does not need help, especially from groups that have no moral ground to stand on

Israeli democracy needs no help
by Dan Schueftan
November 2, 2021

…The United Nations is incapable of ruling credibly and honestly on matters of democracy and human rights. After all, its very composition is undemocratic and its “Human Rights” Council boasts leaders from the most despicable of regimes and individuals obsessed with slandering Israel. In the past, human rights groups were headed by impressive and fair individuals, such as Ruth Gavison, who was a founding member of the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, and Robert Bernstein who founded the Human Rights Watch. Both organizations were useful at the time. Since then, however, they have been taken hostage by purists, radicals, and individuals who hate Israel and who view the Israel-Palestinian conflict as a one-dimensional “victim vs. the privileged white” situation. Why is Naftali Bennett conferring with the likes of Mr. Johnson, President Macron, Prime Minister Modi, Australia’s Scott Morrison, Italy’s Draghi, Bahrain’s Al Khalifa, Honduras Hernández, and NATO chief Stolenberg — and not Mr. Biden?

At Climate Summit, a Chill Breeze from Biden Ruffles the Israelis

Prime Minister Bennett’s list of world leaders with whom to confer at Glasgow is impressive but one name is missing from his dance card — that of the leader of Israel’s most important world ally. There’s little difference between President Biden and Mr. Bennett over issues at the center of the Conference of Parties known as COP26. Both leaders flew to Scotland heading oversized delegations. Both took the obligatory photo in between the hosts, Prime Minister Johnson and Secretary General Guterres. Oh, and both vow to reduce emissions and do their utmost to combat climate change. Biden administration’s harsh criticisms, combined with renewed appeasement of Iran, bode ill for the alliance. How serious is the president about demanding that Israel bow to his demands?

Is this the beginning of a new Cold War between Biden and Israel?
by Jonathan S. Tobin

As far as Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid are concerned, this week has brought a perfect storm of circumstances that threaten to complicate their hopes for a better relationship with the United States. Both men, each for their own reasons, see establishing a good rapport with President Joe Biden and his administration as one of the main goals of their coalition government that took office in June. But blistering criticism was issued by the U.S. State Department on two issues: its renewed commitment to reopening a U.S. consulate in Jerusalem and settlement building in the West Bank. On top of that is the news that Iran is returning to nuclear talks in Vienna. READ MORE

Israeli police arrested a Palestinian infiltrator plotting to kidnap and murder Israeli civilians. The 29-year-old Gaza resident, a member of the Hamas-affiliated terrorist outfit al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, is also behind a series of arson attacks in the country, the Israeli authorities say. According to the Israeli media, Saleiman Kasab went into hiding last year after entering Israel on humanitarian grounds. He “entered the country in January 2020 with a humanitarian permit as an escort for his mother, who was being treated in the West Bank for a serious illness,” the Israeli news website Ynet News reported. A 36-year old man was brutally beaten up by a group of three attackers in Berlin after he allegedly refused to say “Free Palestine,” police have said. A police spokesperson confirmed to the German press that the 36-year old, a German citizen, was asked to say the slogan “Free Palestine.” When the victim resisted the demand, the three men cornered him, beat him up and kicked him, seriously injuring his head, police said. The Hadid family are back at what they do best: inciting against Israel. Mohamed Hadid, the real estate developer and father of supermodels Gigi and Bella, shared a photograph on Instagram on Wednesday that showed a Palestinian woman allegedly being pulled away from her son’s grave by Israeli police officers before the site was to be demolished to make way for a theme park. The photograph was a screenshot of a video originally posted on the Islamic Quotes and Muslim News Instagram page that showed a Palestinian mother crying over her son’s grave seemingly being pulled away by someone who looks like a police officer. Woman has #antisemitic outburst at Chandler School Board meeting

12 NEWS A woman named Melanie Rettler, who is not a Chandler parent, made an offensive, anti-Semitic claim at a recent Chandler School Board meeting.

UNITED WITH ISRAEL ‘It’s the Jews!’ – Rant at School Board Meeting Left Unchallenged Rettler denounced vaccines and critical theory before finally accusing Jews of profiteering off the pandemic. A video of the two-and-a-half-hour meeting shows Rettler sounding increasingly emotional as she slammed the Jews. “Every one of these things, the deep state, the cabal, the swamp, the elite — you can’t mention it, but I will — there is one race that owns all the pharmaceutical companies, and these vaccines aren’t safe, they aren’t effective and they aren’t free,” Rettler said.

“Latest settlement approvals have US officials doubting Gantz’s claim that he can limit scope of construction”

By building deep in the West Bank, Israel risking the wrath of Washington
by Jacob Magid
October 29, 2021

That’s likely why US officials reacted with dismay and anger when they reviewed the list of projects published last week by a panel within Gantz’s office that suggested the defense minister had failed to deliver on his word. The projects were approved Wednesday. “This shows that either he’s not really the one pulling the strings or that he was willfully deceiving us,” a US source familiar with the matter told the Times of Israel on Thursday. Of the plans for roughly 3,000 settlement homes that were advanced by the panel, the vast majority are located deep in the West Bank in towns such as Har Bracha, Elon Moreh, Beit El, Talmon and Eli. “Since last spring, the Biden administration has pressured Israel to allow the US to reopen a separate consulate, solely for Palestinian Arabs, in the heart of Israel’s capital, Jerusalem”

Blinken Seems Intent on Sparking a Crisis Over Jerusalem
by Eugene Kontorovich
October 25, 2021

The biggest diplomatic spat between Israel and the U.S. in recent memory is brewing over the Biden administration’s insistence on opening a consulate to conduct diplomatic relations with the Palestinian Authority and locating it in Israel’s capital, Jerusalem. Despite vociferous Israeli protest, the State Department has repeatedly said it would push forward with opening a consulate anyway, and Secretary Antony Blinken will personally lead the effort. The U.S. Embassy to Israel is already in Jerusalem, and it has a consular department that provides services to Palestinians. Opening a separate, independent diplomatic mission would undermine a longstanding bipartisan policy of treating Jerusalem as the exclusive capital of Israel. READ MORE

GATESTONE Richard Kemp: Jerusalem Consulate: A Nail in the Coffin of Peace As well as betraying Israel, Biden’s irresponsible diplomatic signaling — which also appeases his hard-left supporters — is a betrayal of the Palestinian people. They have suffered too long and too hard under the hostility of their leadership, which has consistently refused to entertain all proposals for peace with Israel that could lead to the establishment of their own state.

JERUSALEM POST Morton A Klein: Israel can’t submit to Biden pressure on consulate, settlements In order to uphold Israel’s legal, moral and sovereign rights and security, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett must withstand Biden administration demands to reopen a US Palestinian-Arab consulate in Jerusalem and “restrain” Jewish building in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem

JNS Senators move to block Biden’s plan to reopen consulate for Palestinians Upholding the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Law Act was introduced by Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) and co-sponsored by 34 other Republicans.
