‘New Gaza’ Rises: Anti-Hamas Militias Backed by Israel Claim Local Rule, Vow to Fight Qatar, Turkey, Iran Forces
Debbie Weiss
October 30, 2025

As Gaza’s ceasefire holds uneasily, four Israel-backed militias fighting Hamas are moving to fill the power vacuum, pledging to cooperate with most international forces involved in rebuilding the enclave but vowing to resist any presence from Qatar, Turkey, or IranThe Algemeiner has learned.  The militias, mainly in southern Gaza, are not part of US President Donald Trump’s proposed plan for a technocratic administration in the enclave.  Based in Khan Younis, Hossam al-Astal, commander of the Counter Terrorism Strike Force, said his group and three allied militias had coordinated in recent weeks to secure areas vacated by Hamas, the terrorist group that until the latest with Israel had solely ruled Gaza since 2007, and were ready to take on civil and security responsibilities once reconstruction begins. AXIOS Barak Ravid: U.S. offered Hamas militants safe passage out of Israel-controlled Gaza zone The U.S. offered Hamas militants safe passage from areas in Gaza controlled by Israel to parts the group controls, U.S. and Israeli officials tell Axios. The goal of the U.S. proposal, which was conveyed to Hamas on Wednesday by Egyptian and Qatari mediators, was to stabilize the ceasefire and clear the roughly half of Gaza that Israel controls of Hamas militants. No Hamas militants had actually crossed over as of Thursday night, according to a senior Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officer. Skirmishes between Israeli forces and Hamas militants who were hiding in tunnels in the Israeli zone led to two major breakdowns in the ceasefire.

IT’S NOON IN ISRAEL Amit Segal: The ceasefire’s restored, but was Israel’s response strong enough?  First, there was Hamas’ show of “discovering” the body of a dead hostage that was in fact remains of a hostage that Israeli forces recovered from Gaza in late 2023. Then, Hamas terrorists killed IDF soldier Yona Efraim (Efi) Feldbaum, 37, who left behind his wife and five young children. Finally, in an astonishing display of chutzpah (which is a gross understatement), Hamas claimed that it would not be returning a hostages’ body yesterday—because Israel, according to Hamas, violated the ceasefire.

200,000 ultra-Orthodox men block entry to Jerusalem in protest against serving in IDF

Some 200,000 ultra-Orthodox men blocked the entrance to Jerusalem on Thursday afternoon for a “million man” protest against military conscription. The gathering saw protesters attack journalists, and hundreds clashed with police as the event came to an end…The protest, billed as a prayer rally, was noted to be a rare show of unity among the various sects and streams of Israel’s ultra-Orthodox community, which do not often mingle with one another, and amounted to one of the largest displays of power by the community in recent years. ISRAEL HAYOM Jerusalem paralyzed amid Haredi ‘million-man march’ The “Torah Cry” rally comes amid the efforts by MK Boaz Bismuth, from Likud, to introduce new legislation that would end the blanket exemption Haredim have on joining the IDF as part of the mandatory service that applies to virtually all Jews and Druze in Israel.

JNS Police expect 500,000 at Haredi rally in Jerusalem against IDF draft The rally will include participants from all Haredi streams, including the Lithuanian, Hasidic and Sephardic communities, with the participation of their respective spiritual leaders. The demonstration will consist of the recitation of prayers and Psalms, without any political speeches. Organizers urged women to stay home and recite Psalms during the protest.

The “parliament of the Jewish people” is set to open this week in Jerusalem as some 2,500 participants from 42 countries descend upon the capital’s International Convention Center for the 39th World Zionist Congress from October 28-30. The confab is set to be the largest on record. After an election marred by widespread alleged voter fraud in the United States, activists and influencers from across the political and religious spectrum will now gather to deliberate over competing visions of Jewish identity, religious authority, and the future of Israel itself…Orthodox, right-wing parties were the big winners in the US election, with Am Yisrael Chai winning 21 seats, Eretz HaKodesh securing 19, and the Orthodox Israel Coalition-Mizrachi winning 18 out of 155 seats. The Reform movement remained the largest single faction with 33 delegates, while the Conservative movement’s Mercaz USA garnered 19 to round out the top five of the 22 parties. READ MORE

Hamas Handed Israel the Body of a Soldier Already Buried

…According to reports by Channel 12 and Army Radio, the alleged deception occurred when Hamas terrorists were seen digging a hole, placing a body inside, and then “uncovering” it for a handover to the Red Cross. Crucially, the incident was reportedly captured on film by an IDF military drone, providing potential visual confirmation of the staging. The unidentified remains were transferred to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute in Tel Aviv, where the process of identification was reportedly proving difficult. This challenge has fueled speculation among Israeli officials that the terror organization is “playing games” with the sensitive issue of returning remains. READ MORE

FDD 2 Caskets Reportedly Containing Slain Hostages Returned to Israel After Hamas Ceasefire Violations The IDF announced on October 30 that two caskets reportedly containing the remains of slain Israeli hostages were released by Hamas. The remains were sent to Israel’s National Institute for Forensic Medicine for identification. If the bodies are positively identified, it will mean that Hamas still holds 11 slain hostages in Gaza that the group is required to return under phase one of U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan.

JD Vance sidesteps college student’s antisemitic question while defending Trump’s Israel stance

…“Tonight the vice president had an opportunity to denounce antisemitism amid its historic surge,” Jewish conservative activist Sloan Rachmuth wrote on X. “He could’ve set an example for the young people who are steering in that direction. JD Vance chose not to.” Conservative writer Jonah Goldberg wrote that Vance was “a profile in cowardice.” “At a Turning Point USA event this week, a young man said something that should have been met with instant moral outrage,” the pro-Israel commentator Daniel Mael wrote on his Substack. “Instead, the Vice President of the United States treated it as a legitimate question. Mael took issue with several of Vance’s phrasings, including his remark about Trump not being “controlled by Israel.” “The meaning was obvious. It implied that past presidents—Biden, Obama, and George W. Bush—were controlled by Israel,” he wrote.  READ MORE

Mamdani: “We have to make clear that when the boot of the NYPD is on your neck, it’s been laced by the IDF”

Mamdani says NYPD boots ‘on your neck’ were ‘laced by the IDF’ in vile video
Carl Campanile and Matt Troutman
October 28, 2025

Mayoral front-runner Zohran Mamdani once made a vile pronouncement tying the NYPD with the Israeli military, a shocking video that resurfaced Tuesday reveals…The comparison – which Mamdani made during a panel at the 2023 Democratic Socialists of America’s national convention, where he was the keynote speaker – drew white-hot criticism from many cops and Jewish New Yorkers, who called out the arguably antisemitic connotation. “Sometimes it’s hard to tell if Zohran hates Jews more than he hates cops or if he hates cops more than he hates Jews,” said Kalman Yeger, a fellow state assemblyman who represents the heavily Jewish 41st District in southern Brooklyn. CANARY MISSION How the DSA is planning to destroy the Democratic Party Leaked video reveals Mamdani and the DSA’s real agenda: “We hate the Democratic Party” “We need to orient ourselves toward insurrection” They’ve captured the party, they’re seizing NYC, and now have their sights on destroying America.

GOTHAMIST Voter turnout surges in NYC mayor’s race, with Boomers and Gen X leading the charge Turnout was way up in the first two days of early voting over the weekend, with voters over 55 making up a majority of overall voters. Data showed 164,190 voters cast ballots Saturday and Sunday. That’s five times higher than the first weekend of early voting four years ago, when Eric Adams, then the Democratic nominee, was heavily favored to become mayor.

MICHAEL OREN An Open Letter to the Jews of New York Yes, the candidate is young, charismatic, and brimming with new ideas. So, too, are many of the Jew-hating influencers followed by millions. There can be no obscuring the fact that the  candidate wants to see my state, my family, and the home of the world’s largest Jewish community erased from the map. And clearly the candidate would not care if that erasure were accomplished with violence.

JEWISH INSIDER After Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove endorses Cuomo, leaders debate if he opened Pandora’s box or if circumstances demanded it The Park Avenue Synagogue rabbi says that while he normally abstains from politics, he ‘felt compelled to enter new territory’ given the threat posed by Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani

The ADL’s Medicine Is Causing the Disease
Joel Finkelstein
October 26, 2025

…What was once a movement to fight antisemitism has evolved into an educational framework built on the language of DEI. Its central lesson is not moral conviction but self-classification within hierarchies of power. In two national studies, participants exposed to the ADL’s anti-oppression messaging grew more defensive and in fact expressed more antisemitism than they had prior to being “educated.” Those results mark more than the failure of one organization. They signal the exhaustion of an era. The frameworks that claimed to cure bias are now being proven by data to deepen it. If we want to rebuild moral coherence, we need a new paradigm rooted not in grievance but in shared human values, the same ideals that helped shape the American experiment and long sustained Jewish moral life in this country. FUTURE OF JEWISH For some reason, ‘the Jews’ make societies go mad Every so often, societies lose their grip on reality. They begin to prize moral theater over moral truth, emotion over evidence, identity over integrity. It happened during the witch trials, when mass hysteria passed for righteousness. It happened during the French Revolution, when “virtue” became a justification for violence. It happened in McCarthyism, when suspicion replaced reason. And it is happening again today, in the moral frenzy surrounding Israel and the Palestinians. What we are witnessing is not just political bias or ignorance; it is “an incurable disease in the public mind.”

“If wokeness really is the result of the Great Feminization, then the eruption of insanity in 2020 was just a small taste of what the future holds”

COMPACT
The Great Feminization
Helen Andrews
October 16, 2025

…This cancellation was feminine, the essay argued, because all cancellations are feminine. Cancel culture is simply what women do whenever there are enough of them in a given organization or field. That is the Great Feminization thesis, which the same author later elaborated upon at book length: Everything you think of as “wokeness” is simply an epiphenomenon of demographic feminization. The explanatory power of this simple thesis was incredible. It really did unlock the secrets of the era we are living in. Wokeness is not a new ideology, an outgrowth of Marxism, or a result of post-Obama disillusionment. It is simply feminine patterns of behavior applied to institutions where women were few in number until recently. How did I not see it before? READ MORE

“The idea that the Jews are society’s scapegoat is a common one. The concept holds that, when in crisis, societies tend to blame the Jews for their problems—from economic discontent to military defeat—leading to horrendous acts of violence”

The writer James Kirchick recently published a comprehensive takedown of the execrable right-wing pundit Tucker Carlson in National Review…Kirchick’s demolition of Carlson is far better than anything I could write, so I will not contend with Carlson here. One passage, however, particularly struck me: Eight decades after the end of World War II, the fading memory of the Holocaust, the rise of identitarian thinking, and the ideological corruption of American higher education have contributed to making our country a place where growing numbers of citizens find it reasonable to blame humanity’s perennial scapegoat, the Jews, for what ails society. Tucker Carlson’s enduring popularity indicates that the cancer on civilization that is antisemitism metastasizes apace. READ MORE

JNS ‘Don’t think Fuentes is going away,’ Tucker Carlson says, hosting Jew-hater on his show During the program, Fuentes attacked Jews, Israel and Zionism. Carlson called his guest “enormously talented” and “more talented than I am.” When Fuentes said that his mission is to represent an America First approach to the Conservative movement, Carlson asked what “important gatekeepers” stood in the way. “It was the Zionist Jews, like Dave Rubin, like Ben Shapiro, like Dennis Prager,” Fuentes said. He claimed those Jewish men control “the media apparatus.”

JTA Heritage Foundation president stands by Tucker Carlson after host platforms antisemitism The president of the Heritage Foundation, the leading conservative think tank, defended right-wing pundit Tucker Carlson and said the group would not cut ties with him days after Carlson hosted an interview with antisemitic influencer Nick Fuentes. Left-wing ideas have wrecked Democrats’ brand, new report warns
David Weigel
October 27, 2025

Democrats have badly weakened their party with left-leaning ideas and rhetoric, growing only with self-described “white liberals” while losing ground with other voters, according to a new center-left group’s report Deciding to Win shared first with Semafor. The group, called Welcome, consulted hundreds of thousands of voters over six months for its broad findings, including that 70% of voters think the Democratic Party is “out of touch.” Most voters, the group found, believe the party over-prioritizes issues like “protecting the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans,” and “fighting climate change” while not caring about “securing the border” or “lowering the rate of crime.” (Welcome began as a PAC in 2022, then founded a nonprofit with the same name for political research.)
