Islamic Jihad returned to the headlines Tuesday when Bassam al-Saadi, the head of the organization in the Jenin area, was arrested in an operation by the Border Police’s undercover unit; there was a heavy exchange of fire. An aide to Saadi was also arrested in the raid, and a 17-year-old was killed. Sources in the West Bank said he was a member of an armed unit. The incident prompted extraordinary precautionary measures in Israeli communities near Gaza amid fears of a possible retaliation on Israel launched from the Strip, which is controlled by Hamas. Lufthansa Airlines will hire an anti-Semitism manager and adopt the International Human Rights Commission’s (IHRA) working definition of anti-Semitism after an incident that garnered international attention, in which more than 100 identifiably Jewish individuals were barred from a flight on May 4, The Jewish Chronicle reported. The passengers, many of whom were traveling individually, had been en route from New York to Budapest, Hungary, with a stopover in Frankfurt, Germany. Upon landing in Frankfurt, the Jewish individuals were denied permission to continue onboard the plane as some, according to the airline, had not followed proper mask-wearing protocols. READ MORE

A Jewish resident of Samaria was attacked at noon (Friday) by Palestinian Arabs who had finished their prayers at the mosque in the PA town of Burqin, next to the city of Alei Zahav in Samaria. The victim was beaten savagely by the mob and suffered injuries to all parts of his body. His dog was beaten to death. One of the attackers was detained by the security forces for questioning. At the same time, it was reported that an Israeli vehicle was pelted with stones by terrorists on the Alon Highway, near the village of Al Mughayyir in the Binyamin region. READ MORE

The 8,000 square meter (86,000 square foot) facility, at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), was inaugurated by President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Yair Lapid, Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz, and philanthropist Sylvan Adams. The facility was designed for both regular emergency needs and a sudden influx of casualties from war and terror. …Starbucks was an early and loud adopter of every progressive whim. The coffee chain demanded implicit-bias training for all employees. After police in Philadelphia removed two black men—who refused to buy anything—from a store at an employee’s request, Starbucks apologized and opened its stores to anyone and everyone. But the rising tide of crime in progressive cities has proved too much even for the coffee behemoth. Citing safety issues, Starbucks is closing stores in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Portland, and its hometown of Seattle. Each of these cities has a radical prosecutor dedicated to non-prosecution of even serious crimes, such as George Gascon in L.A. and Larry Krasner in Philly. The next time you can’t get a good cup of coffee in one of these cities, consider whom you voted for in the district attorney’s race. READ MORE
