Shalabi’s actions “cruel and coldblooded,” motivated by a “burning hatred and a desire to murder Jews”

Palestinian-American gets two life sentences for deadly West Bank terror attack
by Staff
January 5, 2021

A military court handed down two life sentences on Wednesday to Muntasir Shalabi, who killed 19-year-old Yehuda Guetta in a drive-by shooting attack at Tapuah Junction in the West Bank last year. The Ofer Military Court gave Shalani one life sentence for the murder of Guetta, a yeshiva student in the Itamar settlement, and another for the attempted murder of Guetta’s friends who were with him at the bus stop and were injured in the attack…The judges also noted that the attack was premeditated and Shalabi had been training for it for at least a month. Israel has no choice but to fight the U.N.’s new permanent inquisition against it, and any business, government or judge that uses its reality-free reports

ARUTZ SHEVA
The escalating international war against Israel
by Caroline Glick
January 2, 2022

At the U.N. General Assembly last month, a large majority of member nations voted to lavishly fund a permanent inquisition against the Jewish state. The member states funded the operation of an “ongoing independent, international commission of inquiry” against Israel. The commission, run by outspoken haters of Israel with long records of demonizing it and its people, was formed by the U.N. Human Rights Council in a special session in May. Its purpose is to deny and reject Israel’s right to exist, its right to self-defense, its right to enforce its laws and its citizens’ rights to their properties and to their very lives. READ MORE

“’I simply don’t see how I or in fact any Jew who has any pride in that name can be associated with the BBC”

THE FORWARD
I quit the BBC after 30 years because of antisemitism
by Rabbi YY Rubinstein
January 4, 2022

The reason I finally threw in the towel was because of the BBC’s coverage of an incident that occurred on Nov. 29, 2021 at London’s busiest shopping center, Oxford Street. On Hanukkah, a group of Chabad-affiliated teenagers left their tour bus and danced on the sidewalk in celebration of the holiday. They were quickly surrounded by a group of men who threatened them, screaming antisemitic abuse at them. The attackers gave Nazi salutes, howled “F*** the Jews” and attacked the tour bus after they fled back inside, kicking and spitting on it. The footage is ugly. The kids were terrified. When the BBC first reported the story, they alleged that the Jewish kids had shouted an anti-Muslim slur at their attackers. Numerous forensic experts who listened to the recording said that this claim was a complete lie. READ MORE

DAILY MAIL Jewish broadcaster resigns from BBC over ‘inexcusable’ anti-Semitism after corporation wrongly blamed Jewish victims for Oxford Street bus attack A Jewish BBC broadcaster has resigned after the corporation’s coverage of an anti-Semitic attack wrongly accused the victims of making offensive Muslim slurs. Rabbi YY Rubinstein, a contributor to BBC programmes including Good Morning Sunday and the Thought For The Day, quit via a letter…The letter said: ‘The current crisis over anti-Semitism at the Corporation and its attempts to turn the victims of the recent anti-Semitic attack on Jewish children in London and claim that the victims were actually the perpetrators, was and is inexcusable. The obfuscation, denial that followed, was and is utterly damning.

“If Trump and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are not tried in a fair court for the criminal act of assassinating General Soleimani, Muslims will take our martyr’s revenge”

Iran vows revenge for Soleimani killing if Trump not put on trial
January 3, 2022

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, speaking on the second anniversary of the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani by the United States, said that former U.S. President Donald Trump must face trial for the killing or Tehran would take revenge. Iran and groups allied with it in Iraq and other countries have been holding events to honour Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force, the overseas arm of the elite Revolutionary Guards. He was killed in Iraq in a drone strike on Jan. 3, 2020, ordered by then President Trump…”The aggressor, murderer and main culprit – the then president of the United States – must be tried and judged under the (Islamic) law of retribution, and God’s ruling must be carried out against him,” Raisi added. ALGEMEINER Two Years After Soleimani Drone Strike, Media Still Obscuring Iranian Terror Leader’s Legacy Yet exactly two years after “the world’s number one bad guy” was neutralized, English-language media outlets are still obscuring Soleimani’s legacy, thereby effectively burying Tehran’s malign activities.

It’s kind of a “1619 Project” but for Jews: NEH grant funds “large-scale collaborative project to rewrite the histories, narratives, and memories of and by Jews in the Middle East in the 19th-21st centuries”

JEWISH PRESS
National Endowment for the Humanities Spends $250K to Fund a ‘1619 Project’ for Israel
by Daniel Greenfield
December 7, 2021

Last year, Lior Sternfeld and Michelle Campos signed the so-called Jerusalem Declaration on Antisemitism which argued that calling for the destruction of Israel was not antisemitic. The signatures of Sternfeld and Campos alongside numerous other anti-Israel academics was unsurprising. Sternfeld had previously signed a petition in support of BDS activists which concluded with the assertion that the signers might refuse to “enter the State of Israel”…The common theme of anti-zionist revisionist history is that the Jews enjoyed a good life under Muslim rule. They only moved to Israel because the left failed to build its utopian tyranny. READ MORE

Sediment samples swiped from 2,700-year-old privy reveal the presence of intestinal worm eggs that would have caused abdominal pain, diarrhea and itching

Ancient toilet shows Jerusalem’s rich wallowed in luxury – and discomfort
by Stuart Winer
January 4, 2022

Archaeological research on a 2,700-year-old toilet uncovered in Jerusalem found that its owners were wealthy but suffered from a range of intestinal parasites that would have blighted their digestive tracts, leading to abdominal pain and itchiness, Tel Aviv University and the Israel Antiques Authority said Tuesday. Worm eggs, identified in sediment samples taken from a cesspit below the stone toilet, belonged to four different types of intestinal parasites, roundworm, tapeworm, whipworm, and pinworm. The pit, which was found in an ancient villa, was capped with a square limestone slab with a hole in its center, identifying the facility as a toilet during excavations. READ MORE

Just the kind of speaker Temple Emanuel members need to hear, and so, of course, they cancel him

DERSH SUBSTACK
Jewish leaders protest Temple Emanuel’s cancellation of Dershowitz
January 6, 2022

This letter was sent to Rabbi Davidson of Temple Emanuel: We are a group of Zionist Jews from across North America, joined together by our concern about the global rise of Jew-hatred. We are, therefore, shocked and bewildered by Temple Emanuel’s decision to ban Alan Dershowitz from further association. This attempt to silence a well respected, pro-Israel, and influential fellow Jew smacks of censorship and appeasement with those who don’t agree with Mr. Dershowitz’s politics. This was made clear by the Board’s refusal to hear his defense against groundless accusations which were already proven false. This action fuels disunity and schism within the Jewish community, rather than uniting us when we are again being attacked in the media, college campuses, and international opinion. READ MORE

Progressive litmus test rattles elite Chicago school admissions

CHICAGO CONTRARIAN
Chicago’s Latin School Screens Jewish Families for Wokeness
by Michael J. Bernard
December 21, 2021

The Latin School of Chicago is earning a reputation among the Windy City’s Jewish community of screening parents for wokeness, according to multiple families familiar with the admissions process. Chicago Contrarian has spoken to over half a dozen Jewish parents who were asked to comment about their views on diversity, equity and inclusion in the interview process, sometimes even being shadowed by a diversity team member, who were expecting “a specific answer.” One Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School parent who submitted an application to Latin on behalf of their child suggests that Latin asking Jews about their commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is “anti-Semitic.” READ MORE

United Nations General Assembly funds UNHRC “mock court” against Israel

JERUSALEM POST
125 countries back open-ended UNHRC war crimes probe against Israel
by Tovah Lazaroff
December 24, 2021

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has voted to fund an unprecedented open-ended war crimes probe against Israel, with the backing of 125 countries. The probe, called a Commission of Inquiry (COI), had initially been approved in May by the 47-member UN Human Rights Council in the aftermath of the 11-day Gaza war, known as Operation Guardian of the Walls. Its broad mandate – approved 24-9 with 14 abstentions in May – allows for an investigation into any alleged Israeli human rights violations on either side of the Green Line…No such open-ended investigation has ever been leveled against any other UN member state. UNWATCH The Top 10 Worst U.N. Actions of 2021 Spoiler Alert: 1. UN Elects Iran to Top Women’s Rights Body

JNS Sarah N. Stern The UN’s Peculiar Obsession with Israel It is high time for the U.N. to re-examine some of the lofty principles within its founding charter, and to finally abandon its laser focus on Israel. How about investigating some of the world’s worst abusers of human rights in recent history, including some of the venerated members of its very own Human Rights Council?

WALL STREET JOURNAL The U.N.’s Israel Libel Machine Expands Israel is already an irrational fixation of the U.N., which issued 17 resolutions condemning it in 2020. But the funding stream approved at the General Assembly Thursday further institutionalizes the anti-Israel libel machine. The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs notes that the new commission will have 24 permanent staff, compared to 20 permanent staff for the Human Rights Council branch covering all of Asia. With an annual budget greater than $5 million, it will fund “790 days of travel for experts and staff every year from 2022 on.” [partially funded by US taxpayers]

Senior representatives of the United States, the European Union, the United Nations and various countries around the world hailed the rare meeting Tuesday between Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas at the former’s house in Rosh Ha’ayin…Gantz’s office said he and Abbas discussed civilian and security measures Israel can take to strengthen the PA, while the Palestinian readout said the sides stressed “the importance of creating a political horizon” to end the conflict…Many of the world leaders who weighed in appeared to prefer the latter interpretation of the meeting.
