#UN’s “Final Solution for Israel”: UN approves $4.2 million budget to establish a “Grand Inquisition” that will target and vilify Israel

WASHINGTON TIMES
The U.N.’s final solution to the Israel question: Its campaign of demonization and delegitimization escalates
by Clifford D. May
January 12, 2022

…For decades, the U.N. has been at the forefront of a campaign to demonize and delegitimize Israel. That campaign is now set to sharply escalate. Last week, the U.N. approved a $4.2 million budget to establish a so-called Commission of Inquiry (COI) – essentially a Grand Inquisition that will target and vilify Israel. Under the auspices of Human Rights Council (UNHRC), a body dominated by such notorious human rights violators as China, Russia, Cuba, Pakistan, Qatar, and Venezuela, an 18-member staff will be led by Navi Pillay, a former U.N. high commissioner for human rights, with “an appalling record on Israel,” in the considered judgment of Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch. The COI will be “dedicated to manufacturing charges and mounting a global chase to arrest and incarcerate Israeli Jews,” Anne Bayefsky, director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust, wrote in a paper for the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. I join people across the globe who oppose the UN Human Rights Council’s (UNHRC) open-ended “Commission of Inquiry” targeting Israel, the world’s only Jewish state and the Middle East’s only proven democracy. I reject the legitimacy of this “inquiry,” which is led by officials with long records of anti-Israel bias and a corrupt “human rights council” dominated by undemocratic regimes that violate human rights. I am outraged that the UNHRC is using dramatically more resources for this transparent effort to harm Israel, than to investigate horrific atrocities in Syria and other places around the world.

‘I Thought I Was in a Bad Dream’: Two IDF Officers Killed by Friendly Fire Laid to Rest
by Sharon Wrobel
January 13, 2022

The two Israeli officers killed on Wednesday night in a tragic friendly fire accident at a base in the Jordan Valley were laid to rest on Thursday. Maj. Itamar Elharar, 26, and Maj. Ofek Aharon, 28, both commanders in the IDF’s special forces Egoz unit, were killed by IDF fire due to a “mistaken identification,” the army said. Aharon’s father, Eli, wept at the side of his son’s grave and cried out: “You got Ofek healthy and sound and I got him in a coffin.” “You were humble, brave, and competitive — you were a warrior,” Eli Aharon was quoted as saying by Israeli news outlet Walla, wearing his son’s military coat and towel wrapped around his neck. Iran Deal Redux: “Israel’s response to the collapse of America’s diplomatic position has been to paper over the oceanic rift between the U.S. position and that of Israel”

Our enemies keep their focus
by Caroline Glick
January 9, 2022

…To go by the reports of the negotiations, a deal means nothing less than complete U.S. capitulation to Iran’s demands. Last week, Britain’s Spectator published a report titled “Inside Joe Biden’s Disastrous Negotiations with Iran.” It described how the Western position has collapsed due to the radical pro-Iranian posture of the U.S. team led by Robert Malley. British and other negotiators characterized Malley as “the most dovish official we’ve ever seen.” One official said that Malley bent over backwards so far that “he now speaks to Tehran between his legs.” READ MORE

A recently published book offers a new take on a pivotal battle and an intentional mistruth that changed the course of history forever

DANIEL GORDIS BLOG
“The Massacre That Never Was”
January 10, 2022

A new book by Eliezer Tauber, a former dean at Bar Ilan University and an expert on the formation of Arab nationalism, has taken on the Deir Yassin story with painstaking attention to detail unmatched by any other study. Tauber’s conclusion is obvious from the title of the book. There was no massacre, he argues, but a hard-fought battle in which Palestinian combatants stationed themselves in residences and among family. Using both Arab and Jewish testimony from combatants on both sides and survivors of the “massacre” (testimony which often offered almost identical accounts), he was able to account for the circumstances of almost every Palestinian death in the village…READ MORE

A new wave of Arab pro-Israel influencers are promoting the Jewish state

GATESTONE
Arabs ‘Frustrated’ With Biden’s Iran Policy
by Khaled Abu Toameh
January 11, 2022 at 5:00 am

…It is encouraging, nonetheless, to see the growing support among Arabs for Israel’s military strikes against the Iranian-backed militias in Syria. The Arabs seem to understand that Iran’s intervention in Syria has caused more violence and bloodshed there. Likewise, Israel’s better reputation compared to Iran among many Arabs, as shown by the survey by the Syrian-born TV personality, is a point of light…It now remains to be seen whether the Biden administration and the other parties negotiating with the mullahs will heed the voices coming from the Arab world — or continue to allow the mullahs to hoodwink them by having the US sanctions lifted while Tehran continues to advance its plans to obtain nuclear weapons and extend its control to more Arab countries. THE JC Meet the Arab Zionists: a new generation of online pioneers The signing of the Abraham Accords in 2020 was a watershed moment: it allowed many Arabs to speak out openly about Israel without fear of a backlash — while opening the door to positive experiences of Israel, whether via the news or trips to the Jewish state. Now, in a growing trend, pioneering Arab Zionists and pro-Israel influencers — who once would have been labelled traitors — are promoting Israel to their hundreds and thousands of followers.

Historian Deborah Lipstadt’s nomination to be State Department envoy shouldn’t be held hostage to partisan anger. Still, her own outrageous partisanship undermines outrage about what’s happened

Politics and combating anti-Semitism don’t mix
by Jonathan S. Tobin
January 10, 2022

Lipstadt may have deserved the post, but no one should be under any illusion that the decision didn’t have a lot to do with her willingness to play the partisan in 2020 by endorsing a shameful ad from the Jewish Democratic Council of America that likened the Trump administration to the rise of Nazi Germany. She followed that up by co-authoring an op-ed in The Washington Post in which she compared those who raised questions about the outcome of the 2020 presidential election to Holocaust-deniers. In both cases, she crossed the same line that she had previously drawn between the Holocaust and partisan-issue advocacy. Whether she did so because she genuinely has come to believe those who disagree with her about Trump are either Nazis or their enablers—or had her eye on the post that she later claimed she had to be persuaded to accept—is irrelevant. Those dastardly Israelis now hire spy dolphins to kill Palestinians

NEW YORK POST
Hamas accuses Israel of deploying ‘killer Zionist dolphins’ near Gaza
By Yaron Steinbuch
January 12, 2022

Hamas suspects Israeli dolphins are up to something fishy. The militant Islamist group claimed in a video posted by its military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, to have captured a heavily armed Israeli dolphin off the coast of Gaza, according to i24 News. “Killer Zionist dolphins exist, according to a Hamas publication,” tweeted Joe Truzman, a researcher for Long War Journal and the Foundation for Defense of Democracies think tank. “Abu Hamza explains that a member of Hamas’ Frogman unit who was killed by Israel during the May conflict found the killer dolphin. The device the alleged killer dolphin was wearing is shown in the publication,” he added. READ MORE

Palestinian-American gets two life sentences for deadly West Bank terror attack
by Staff
January 5, 2021

A military court handed down two life sentences on Wednesday to Muntasir Shalabi, who killed 19-year-old Yehuda Guetta in a drive-by shooting attack at Tapuah Junction in the West Bank last year. The Ofer Military Court gave Shalani one life sentence for the murder of Guetta, a yeshiva student in the Itamar settlement, and another for the attempted murder of Guetta’s friends who were with him at the bus stop and were injured in the attack…The judges also noted that the attack was premeditated and Shalabi had been training for it for at least a month. Israel has no choice but to fight the U.N.’s new permanent inquisition against it, and any business, government or judge that uses its reality-free reports

ARUTZ SHEVA
The escalating international war against Israel
by Caroline Glick
January 2, 2022

At the U.N. General Assembly last month, a large majority of member nations voted to lavishly fund a permanent inquisition against the Jewish state. The member states funded the operation of an “ongoing independent, international commission of inquiry” against Israel. The commission, run by outspoken haters of Israel with long records of demonizing it and its people, was formed by the U.N. Human Rights Council in a special session in May. Its purpose is to deny and reject Israel’s right to exist, its right to self-defense, its right to enforce its laws and its citizens’ rights to their properties and to their very lives. READ MORE
