Eilat Mazar, One of Israel’s Founders
by Daniel Polisar, Shalem College
May 27, 2021

Eilat Mazar, one of Israel’s greatest archaeologists, passed away this week at age 64. Though born a decade after the Jewish state was established, Mazar is seen by those privileged to know her as being among the country’s founders because she had that rare and unmistakable character of the generation of leaders who brought the state into being against all odds. She was driven by an instinctive love for the Land of Israel, felt deeply connected to the Bible without being traditionally religious, and embraced archaeology, with its alluring combination of the spiritual and the earthly…READ MORE

US State Department’s allocation of $100 million in Palestinian aid prompts concerns

Biden Admin Can’t Guarantee Taxpayer Aid Won’t Enrich Hamas
by Adam Kredo
May 27, 2021

As the Biden administration allocates more than $100 million in U.S. taxpayer aid to the Palestinian government and aid groups, critics are raising concerns that the State Department cannot ensure this aid won’t reach the Iranian-backed terror group Hamas. State Department officials have thus far declined to outline what mechanisms, if any, it has put in place to stop a tranche of aid money from reaching Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip and is responsible for initiating a deadly conflict with Israel this month. The State Department admitted this week that it could not guarantee the tranche of money will be kept from Hamas. “As we’ve seen in life, as we all know in life, there are no guarantees,” a senior department official said. U.S. Army Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds, one of five American Righteous Among the Nations, never spoke about the 200 Jews he saved

‘We Are All Jews Here’
by Patrick Henry
May 27, 2021

…It was German policy to single out Jewish POWs and send them to extermination or slave labor camps. Accordingly, in January 1945, the Germans announced that all Jewish prisoners in Stalag IXA would report the following morning. Twenty-five-year-old Master Sgt. Edmonds, who was responsible for all the POWs in Stalag IXA, ordered all prisoners, Jews and non-Jews, to fall out. When the German officer in charge, Maj. Siegmann, saw all the prisoners lined up in front of the barracks that next morning, he said to Edmonds: “They cannot all be Jews.” Edmonds responded: “We are all Jews here.” READ MORE

“It should surprise precisely no one that the same party that couldn’t bring itself to singularly condemn anti-Semitism when Jews and Jews alone were being viciously attacked, also voted to deny Israel the funding it needed to defend itself against Hamas’ deadly rockets”

Congressional Enablers of Genocidal Anti-Semitism
by Kenneth Levin
May 24, 2021

Ilhan Omar, much given to anti-Semitic tropes, used the current hostilities to call essentially for Israel’s destruction. Rashida Tlaib characterized the Sheikh Jarrah issue as an “…attack on Palestinian families being ripped from their homes right now”; and the events on the Temple Mount as a “… a sustained campaign of harassment and terror by Israeli police against worshippers kneeling down and praying…” Omar’s blood-thirstiness and Tlaib’s lies left no room, of course, for any mention of Hamas’s missile onslaught beyond the Congresswomen’s implicit endorsement of the onslaught in their embracing of Hamas’s justifications. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal explicitly sought to blame Israel for Hamas’s rocket attacks, claiming they were provoked by “legal fights over evictions.” READ MORE

NEW YORK POST Liel Leibovitz: Dems’ desperate denial on anti-Jewish attacks: The ‘Islamophobia’ red herring As Jews were being pummeled, punched, spat at, intimidated with explosive devices and singled out for violence and harassment all across America this week, the righteous men and women of the Democratic Party were quick to denounce the twin scourges behind these mini-pogroms: anti-Semitism and — drumroll, please — Islamophobia.

“Instead of monitoring a growing wave of left-wing antisemitism, the ADL ignored it, at best”

BREITBART
Blue State Blues: Jews Need the NRA More than We Need the ADL
by Joel B. Pollak
May 28, 2021

The National Rifle Association (NRA) does a better job of protecting American Jews from antisemitic violence than the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). That’s because the NRA defends the Second Amendment, which allows Jews to own firearms and deter attacks against our families and communities. The ADL, on the other hand, asks us to trust our lives to strongly-worded statements, even as it aligns with the same radical left-wing causes that are pushing anti-Israel hatred…[Jonathan] Greenblatt and [Abe] Foxman share the liberal Jewish fallacy that it is Jewish strength that provokes hatred, rather than Jewish weakness. READ MORE

Will the judges in the Netanyahu trial have the courage to admit that the case was carelessly stitched together?

Case 4,000 falling apart, makes mockery of prosecution
by Gilad Zwick
May 26, 2021

…On the morning of Ben-Ari’s opening argument, I published an article that focused on the huge holes in the prosecution’s basic thesis that Netanyahu had asked for unusual coverage on the Walla news site in exchange for regulatory benefits for controlling shareowner of Bezeq – which owns Walla – Shaul Elovitch. Supposedly, this was a legal precedent – the first instance of media coverage comprising an element of charges of bribery against a politician. If you missed it, the word on which the case will survive or fail is “unusual” – whether the tradeoffs between Netanyahu and Elovitch were so unusual as to be criminal enough to be bribery. Amazingly, even before the evidentiary stage of the trial began, it was already known that the prosecution had not troubled itself to create any criteria that would determine a norm, deviation from which would cross into the area of criminality. “Arab mob crashes pro-Israel rally in Illinois, torching Israeli flag, attacking demonstrators, and calling for massacre of Jews”

ARUTZ SHEVA
‘Kill the Jews’: Arab mob attacks pro-Israel rally in Illinois
by Staff
May 24, 2021

A pro-Israel rally held outside of Chicago over the weekend was crashed by a mob of Arab protesters who attacked the pro-Israel demonstration and called for the slaughter of Jews. The incident occurred on Sunday in downtown Naperville, a city of roughly 150,000 less than 30 miles west of Chicago. Dozens of Israel supporters gathered outside of city hall Sunday to express support for the Jewish state, before marching through downtown Naperville, organizers said… The anti-Israel demonstrators called not only for the destruction of Israel, but also the slaughter of Jews. “The criticism shows that a growing number of Arabs are fed up with the continuous efforts of Iran to destabilize the Arab countries with the help of the mullahs’ proxies in the Middle East, including Hamas”

Arabs: Hamas Does Not Care About Palestinian Suffering
by Khaled Abu Toameh
May 20, 2021

While many in the West denounced Israel for its military strikes in the Gaza Strip over the past week, prominent Arab writers and political analysts held the Iranian-backed Hamas responsible for the violence and bloodshed. These Arabs evidently understand what the anti-Israel activists around the world fail to see — that Hamas has brought nothing but disaster and despair to the two million Palestinians living under its rule in the Gaza Strip. These Arabs also seem to understand that Israel is not waging war on the Palestinians, but against an Islamist terrorist group whose charter openly calls for jihad (holy war) and the elimination of Israel. These Arabs can also see that if one cares about the Palestinians, why would one want them ruled by terrorists who place weapons caches near hospitals and schools, and use children as human shields? TORONTO SUN Tarek Fatah: Palestinians Die as Hostages of Hamas As hundreds die in Gaza once more, one cannot help feeling the pain of the Palestinians. They bury their dead children with no end in sight. Another ceasefire may come into effect soon, but will not end their multi-generational misery as a people without a state. The tragedy of the Palestinians is not that they don’t have a state of their own (which they deserve), but that they are being held hostage by a leadership that, decade after decade, does not learn the lessons of their accumulated defeat and humiliation.

Read the 14th paragraph of this AP story on Gaza and see how they omit and misreport (or said differently lie) about this war’s origins. Is it naivety or deceit ?

Hamas defiant with military parade, appearance of top leader

May 22, 2021

…The fighting began on May 10, when Hamas militants in Gaza fired long-range rockets toward Jerusalem. The barrage came after days of clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. Heavy-handed police tactics at the compound and the threatened eviction of dozens of Palestinian families by Jewish settlers had inflamed tensions. READ MORE

Informed readers have followed the Sheik Jarrah dispute for years as it works its way through Israeli courts. Read Almost Nothing You’ve Heard About Evictions in Jerusalem Is True: Neutral application of property law becomes an international incident because a landlord is a Jew.

Other items missing from this AP story: Iran, which funds Hamas and has thus enabled these attacks, is not referenced once–instead it is “Jewish settlers” who are the cause. Also conveniently omitted, the number of Palestinian casualties as a result of errant missiles from Hamas. Also this: If AP really didn’t know it shared space with Hamas, why trust its reporting? After an Israeli airstrike Saturday destroyed a high-rise office tower on the Gaza Strip, the Associated Press, which had offices there for 15 years, complained, claiming it had no idea the building was also home to Hamas. If it’s true that AP was so unaware — and the evidence suggests it’s unlikely — how can anyone trust its reporting in the region?
