Your only two choices are Zionism and anti-Zionism. Pick wisely

Us and Them

May 25, 2021

We’ve lived through skirmishes between Israelis and Palestinians before, but May 2021 felt different. It’s not only that the number of rockets lobbed at Israel, 4,360, marks an all-time high. It’s not just that suddenly it seemed as if every one of your favorite actors, singers, writers, and lawmakers took to social media to accuse Israel of everything from apartheid to deliberately killing Black and brown people, shouting down anyone who advocated for balance and complexity—even Rihanna. It’s not even that speakers on protest stages are saying things like “every time they bomb Gaza, this is what creates antisemitism.” Or that a majority of House Democrats voted against providing Israel with emergency funding to boost its Iron Dome defense system. Or that mini-pogroms are popping up everywhere from West Hollywood to the Upper East Side, with mobs attacking Jews indiscriminately. READ MORE

“George Washington’s promise to American Jews helped define this nation. Breaking that promise would define us again”

Can America Be America When Jews Are Beaten in the Streets?
by David French
May 23, 2021

It happened again. As war raged between Hamas and Israel over there in the Middle East, we watched in horror as American Jews were beaten right here in American streets. Thursday evening a gang of men beat a Jewish man in Midtown. On Tuesday, a gang attacked Jewish diners at a sushi restaurant in L.A. Synagogues were vandalized in Skokie, Tucson, and Salt Lake. I say “again,” because we must not forget the wave of anti-Semitic violence before the pandemic. In late 2019 and early 2020, attackers beat Jewish Americans repeatedly. The violence culminated in a mass shooting at a Kosher Deli in Jersey City and a machete attack on a Hanukkah party in Monsey, New York.  READ MORE

The Sheikh Jarrah property dispute and the false claim of Israeli land discrimination
by Avi Bell
May 23, 2021

The claim that Israeli law permits Jews to reclaim ownership of lands they owned prior to 1948 but denies Palestinians such a right is false in every particular. The real estate dispute in Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood has played a crucial role in international accounts of the recent fighting between the State of Israel and the Hamas terrorist organization ruling the Gaza Strip. The Sheikh Jarrah dispute concerns several eviction orders issued by Jerusalem’s Magistrate Court, upheld on appeal by Jerusalem’s District Court and awaiting a ruling by Israel’s Supreme Court on a request for a final appeal. “Only the obliteration of Hamas can secure a lasting peace”

FRONTPAGE MAG
Catastrophe of a ‘Ceasefire’
by Professor Jason D. Hill
May 24, 2021

The recent “ceasefire” between the terrorist organization, Hamas, that rules Gaza, and the ethical state of Israel is a recipe for future disaster. There is one winner, which is Hamas. The loser in this pitiful surrender is Israel. What does Hamas have to gain by a ceasefire? An awful lot. It claims an indefinite time frame in which to rebuild its arsenal of destruction that will be levied against Israel in a relatively short space of time. It has a chance to showcase to the world the destruction of its infrastructures and civilian habitats. A great segment of the anti-Semitic world will refuse to acknowledge that Hamas is literally responsible for all these civilian deaths — as it is the only army in human history that uses the lives of its civilian population as weapons of war by using hospitals, infant nurseries, schools, civilian homes, and mosques as launch pads for its rockets. Hamas also refuses to allow its citizens to evacuate buildings and targeted areas of attack announced well in advance of any military strikes by the IDF. READ MORE

UN Security Council ignores the 4,000 rockets Hamas launched into civilian areas; Israel Foreign Ministry: “We thank President Biden and the US administration for their continued support of Israel”

UN Security Council refuses to condemn Hamas

The United Nations (UN) Security Council called for Israel and Hamas to keep to the ceasefire, emphasizing the need to provide humanitarian aid to “Palestinians.” Israel’s Foreign Ministry responded to the Council’s announcement, saying: “The full responsibility for this escalation lies with the Hamas terrorist organization, which chose to initiate rocket fire at Israel’s capital of Jerusalem, the areas surrounding the Gaza Strip, and other cities in Israel. “It is very unfortunate to see that the Security Council has ignored the launching of over 4,000 rockets at Israeli civilians from populated areas in Gaza. ALGEMEINER Egyptian Mediators Try to Build on Israel-Hamas Ceasefire Egyptian mediators sought to reinforce a day-old ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants on Saturday, and aid officials appealed for a period of calm to start tackling a humanitarian crisis in Gaza after 11 days of fighting. The ceasefire, which began before dawn on Friday, was still holding on Saturday evening, enabling officials to start assessing the scale of the damage.

ISRAEL HAYOM Israeli ambassador rips UN: The hypocrisy in this institution knows no bounds “We will never apologize for defending our citizens, even if some here might be happy to see a higher number of dead Jews,” Gilad Erdan, Israel’s ambassador to the United States and the United Nations, tells the UN General Assembly on Thursday.

US appeasement of Iran, misconceptions over facts linger in wake of Israel-Gaza conflict
by Israel Kasnett
May 21, 2021

Experts say the role of Iran behind the conflict, as well as Hamas’s own bid for dominance in the Palestinian arena, cannot be overlooked. Michael Doran, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, told JNS that “from a strategic point of view, both Washington and Jerusalem should frame the Gaza conflict as an attack on the American security system in the Middle East…Unfortunately,” he said, “the Biden administration is appeasing Iran, most notably at the negotiating tables in Vienna, where the Americans seek to coax Tehran back to the JCPOA…Doran noted that it is a well-known, documented fact that rockets and missiles produced and obtained by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad are funded by Iran. Bennett slams John Oliver, Trevor Noah, Bella Hadid on Israel criticism
by Aaron Reich and Zachary Keyser
May 20, 2021

Yamina leader Naftali Bennett addressed criticism against Israel from iconic pop culture figures Bella Hadid, Trevor Noah and John Oliver in a YouTube video Thursday. Oliver, Noah and Hadid had been among many celebrities in recent days to heavily criticize Israel for its conduct in Gaza during Operation Guardian of the Walls. Many of these criticisms stemmed from the idea that there is a significant disparity in casualties, with Hamas suffering far more casualties than Israel, due in part to the Iron Dome defense system. But Bennett sought to set the record straight for who he sarcastically called “The ‘great philosophers’ of our age.” READ MORE

‘Showing friendship’: European ministers visit in act of solidarity with Israel
by Lazar Berman
May 20, 2021

The foreign ministers of Germany, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia visited Israel Thursday in a show of solidarity as fighting continues with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. They toured sites hit by rockets from Gaza, met ministers and attended briefings. “I am speechless after I witnessed the destruction and terror that Israel has experienced,” said Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhanek after touring a rocket-devastated building in Petah Tikva. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas arrived first and was greeted at Ben Gurion Airport by his Israeli counterpart, Gabi Ashkenazi. READ MORE

JNS Iranian opposition activists defend Israel in latest round of conflict with Hamas in Gaza After more than a week since Hamas terrorists began launching rockets at Israeli cities, a growing number of non-Jewish Iranian activists, journalists and individuals in Iran and outside the country have been vocal in their support for the people of Israel. Whether via social-media messages or by demonstrating alongside pro-Israel supporters in the United States and Canada, non-Jewish Iranians have also expressed support for peaceful co-existence between Israelis and Palestinians.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has torn apart Chicago’s biggest Facebook moms group
by Philissa Cramer
May 20, 2021

The tens of thousands of Chicago mothers in a private Facebook group called MamaHive typically post about sleepless babies, strollers and playgroups. But on Sunday night, with the latest conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza entering its second week, a post went up that broke the mold. “We, the admins of MamaHive Chicago, take a strong stance against the terroristic acts being committed against the Palestinian people,” the post said. “Anyone appearing to justify the occupation, genocide and apartheid that is taking place will be immediately removed. If you feel in any way supportive to those committing these heinous acts, please feel free to remove yourself.” READ MORE

“Take a good look at who is speaking out against Jew-hate. And who is staying silent”

COMMON SENSE WITH BARI WEISS
The New Furies of the Oldest Hatred
by Peter Savodnik
May 21, 2021

The furies have been unleashed. They were everywhere you looked these past two weeks, though you won’t read about them much in the papers. We saw them on Thursday, when pro-Palestinian protesters threw an explosive device into a crowd of Jews in New York’s Diamond District. We saw them on Wednesday, when two men were attacked outside a bagel shop in midtown Manhattan. We saw them on Tuesday, at a sushi restaurant in West Hollywood, when a group of men draped in keffiyehs asked the diners who was Jewish, and then pummeled them. READ MORE
