Memo to #TimeMagazine: “BDS co-founder Omar Barghouti has repeatedly stated that BDS’s goal is to eliminate Israel”

JEWISH JOURNAL
Time Magazine Tries to BS Americans About BDS
by Micha Danzig
December 9, 2020

On December 4, 2020, Time Magazine published an article titled “Here’s What You Need to Know About BDS” (the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel). This title would lead most readers to conclude the magazine was simply publishing an educational or (or at a minimum) a balanced piece on this controversial campaign. Instead, Time whitewashed the campaign, legitimizing anti-Zionism and ignoring how harmful BDS is to the people it purportedly seeks to help — the Palestinians…Setting aside how misleading this description is (in particular with what caused the Jewish and Arab refugees from the Arab-Israeli conflict), this description ignores that BDS’s actual goal is to destroy Israel. CAMERA Tamar Sternthal: What TIME won’t tell you about BDS Mansoor fails to share with readers the inevitable implications of a “return” of the original 1948 refugees and their millions of descendants. Those who care about Israel’s continued existence, President Barack Obama among them, widely acknowledge that a “return” of the original 1948 refugees (now numbering at most 30,000) and their millions of descendants spells the end of the Jewish state.

“The NY Court’s opinion acknowledged that New York’s order indeed treated houses of worship more harshly than “essential” businesses, a category that includes liquor stores, bike shops and acupuncturists”

Why Are Jews Flinging anti-Semitic Libels at Jews Who Simply Want to Pray in Synagogue?
by Rabbi Avi Shafran
December 3, 2020

Orthodox Jews helped win a Supreme Court victory for religious freedom in America. The response? Rank bigotry, insults and wild accusations – from fellow Jews…The actual facts: The case concerned restrictions put in place by New York State on certain neighborhoods’ houses of worship that were more stringent than the reasonable and health-conscious rules for comparable secular facilities in the same areas. Even the largest shuls, built to hold hundreds of worshippers, were limited to ten occupants. What Agudath Israel (joined by two shuls and two individuals) and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn contended was that the unfair levying of those restrictions was an illegal infringement of Americans’ religious rights as codified in the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment. Estate of celebrated writer Roald Dalhl issues statement of regret for ‘lasting and understandable hurt’ caused by ‘incomprehensible’ comments he made throughout his life

Roald Dahl’s family quietly apologizes for hurt caused by author’s anti-Semitism
by Staff
December 6, 2020

Over 30 years after his death, the estate of Roald Dahl issued a quiet apology Saturday for the “prejudiced” anti-Semitic positions the celebrated children’s author had regularly expressed, calling them “incomprehensible.”…The debate over Dahl’s anti-Semitic legacy hit mainstream Hollywood in 2016 upon the release of the Steven Spielberg version of “The BFG.” At a Cannes Film Festival press conference, the Jewish director said he “wasn’t aware of any of Roald Dahl’s personal stories” before shooting “The BFG” for Walt Disney Pictures…In an interview with the New Statesman magazine in 1983, Dahl said: “There is a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity… even a stinker like Hitler didn’t just pick on them for no reason.” READ MORE

Calling people who want to reopen schools racist and sexist is a terrible way to debate important policy questions

DISCOURSE MAGAZINE
A Teachers Union Needs a New Lesson Plan
by Professor Charles Lipson
December 8, 2020

The teachers union doesn’t just say the other side is wrong; they say the other side is evil, driven by evil motives. Mind you, in this case, the other side comprises folks who are damned simply for wanting to send their kids back to school. Perhaps they are caring parents who want their kids to get a decent education, parents who know online learning is failing in K-12 schools. Perhaps they are working people who can’t earn a living if their kids are at home all day. Not according to the teachers union, which calls them sexist and racist. “Misogyny” is just a special bonus for people who like big words. READ MORE

Glick: “As the pandemic comes under control, we are swiftly approaching the dark four-year tunnel of the Biden administration. For Israel to successfully contend with its twists and turns, it will need a strong, and sturdy Right-Haredi government capable of coherent and forthright action”

ISRAEL HAYOM (by agreement with JNS)
Biden and Israel’s Unsteady Right
by Caroline Glick
December 5, 2020

…Biden insisted the goal of his policy is to prevent Iran from getting the bomb. But practically speaking, Biden’s policy guarantees Iran will develop a nuclear arsenal and the missiles to deliver them. This is true both because the nuclear deal will expire, and Iran will be free to build nuclear bombs as it likes in 2025, and because the 2015 nuclear deal has no effective enforcement mechanism. The UN inspectors tasked with ensuring Iranian compliance are only permitted to enter civilian nuclear sites. Since Iran has sole authority to determine if a site is civilian or military, it can and has rendered the deal’s inspection regime a pathetic joke. READ MORE

TIMES OF ISRAEL ‘Israel has tape of slain Iran nuke chief talking about building five warheads’ Israel intelligence managed to recruit an Iranian official close to the recently assassinated Mohsen Fakhrizadeh and recorded the nuclear scientist speaking about his efforts to produce “five warheads” on behalf of the Islamic Republic, according to a Friday report in the Yedioth Ahronoth daily. This top-secret recording was played in 2008 by former prime minister Ehud Olmert for then-president George W. Bush during a visit by Bush to Israel and was a key element in convincing the Americans to step up efforts to combat Iran’s nuclear program, the report said.

Jewish students like me thought not being on campus would at least spare them some drama. We couldn’t have been more wrong

TABLET MAG
The Hate That Can’t Be Contained
by Blake Flayton
November 25, 2020

For Jewish college students like me who were sent home from our colleges and universities last March, the effect was at first chaotic. We were, like everyone else in the nation, afraid for the health and safety of our families and of our communities. Add to this that we were about to process all of the madness away from our campus Jewish communities—the social gatherings, Shabbat services, and holiday meals that anchor our lives. But for some of us, I confess, there was a bit of relief. As outspoken opponents of anti-Semitic activity on campus, we suspected we were in for at least a little reprieve. READ MORE

“The line up of the American Muslims for Palestine conference reads like a Who’s Who for the Muslim Brotherhood”

CLARION PROJECT
Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib & Betty McCollum Participate in Conference with Terror Funders, Antisemites
by Meira Svirsky
November 30, 2020

Congresswomen Ilhan Omar, Rahida Tlaib and Betty McCollum participated in a conference over the weekend with several figures connected to Islamist terrorism. As the above poster notes, many of the speakers at the American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) conference, including Omar and Tlaib, have also expressed classic forms of antisemitism, as per the internationally accepted definition of antisemitism formulated by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). On the last day of the conference, Tlaib retweeted a message which read: “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free, ” a saying long used by those calling for the complete destruction of the state of Israel and its Jewish citizens. “Here is a three year dispute that is on the way to being resolved after three days of Kushner arriving – representing a lame duck administration that can’t offer any real incentives”

ELDER OF ZIYON
It’s time to recognize Jared Kushner as the best Mideast negotiator in history
December 3, 2020

Al Jazeera reports: Qatar and Saudi Arabia are close to striking a preliminary agreement to end a dispute that has pitted the Gulf neighbours against each other for more than three years, sources told Al Jazeera. The expected deal comes after United States President Donald Trump’s adviser Jared Kushner arrived in the Gulf region as part of a last-ditch effort to resolve the Gulf crisis, before the Trump administration leaves office in January. The person who has been derided as an inexperienced, spoiled, rich real estate heir from a corrupt family who has no business being anywhere near the White House has proven to be the single most effective Middle East negotiator in history. This comes on the heels of Kushner’s key role in negotiating normalization agreements between Israel and the UAEIsrael and Bahrain and (in progress) Israel and Sudan. READ MORE

Top Sanders staffer tied to anti-Semitism scandal at center of push to influence Biden Israel policies

Anti-Israel Groups Mobilize to Install Allies in Biden Admin
by Adam Kredo
December 3, 2020

Anti-Israel organizations have launched a coordinated effort to pressure the incoming Biden administration into selecting people who will champion their causes, a push that reportedly includes opposing mainstream nominees supported by leading Democrats and Republicans. In a bid to agree on strategy and maximize pressure on Joe Biden’s transition team, more than 100 far-left organizations, including Code Pink and Win Without War, held a Wednesday conference call “to try to get on the same page and make a more coherent pitch to the Biden team,” according to Politico. The organizations are preparing to recommend some 200 staffers who share these organizations’ foreign policy ideology, which includes rolling back sanctions on Iran and challenging American aid to Israel. Saudi political analyst Abdullah Otaibi reminded the Europeans and the rest of the world that the Iranian regime “did not hesitate to use the weapon of assassinations” in the past four decades against its political opponents

GATESTONE
Arabs: Why Is the EU Mourning This Iranian Scientist?
by Khaled Abu Toameh
December 4, 2020

While the European Union has condemned the killing of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, widely regarded as the father of Iran’s modern nuclear program, many Arabs and Muslims expressed relief over the assassination. By condemning the killing of Fakhrizadeh, the EU has found itself on the side of Palestinian terror groups such as the Iran-backed Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. These factions, together with Lebanon’s Hezbollah terror group, another Iran proxy, and the Muslim Brotherhood, have also voiced outrage over the killing of the scientist. Iran’s proxies are upset , apparently, because they view the killing of the scientist as an obstacle to achieving Tehran’s goal of eliminating the “Zionist entity.” READ MORE

ALGEMEINER Make No Mistake, Iran Is a Nazi Regime The regime that rules Iran has been described as many things: “Islamic republic,” “Islamist dictatorship,” “the mullahs’ regime,” and so on. All of these terms make the same mistake: they assume the Iranian regime is something new. The problem is that this simply isn’t true. The Iranian regime is something we have very much seen before. Put simply, Iran is a Nazi regime.
