Biden takes a Kenosha meeting with Jacob Blake Sr., whose online posts includes: “A cracker jew can do whatever to a white woman for years but let a jig try it”

Biden criticized by Jewish community for meeting with Farrakhan supporter
by Donna Rachel Edmunds
September 6, 2020

A meeting between Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and the father of a black man who was shot by Wisconsin police has sparked a renewed debate over antisemitism within the African-American community, after it emerged that the father had expressed support for antisemitic figures. 29-yr-old Jacob Blake Jr. was shot seven times by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, as they attempted to arrest him and was severely injured…It has since emerged that in 2018 and 2019, Jacob Blake Sr. made a number of antisemitic and anti-white posts on social media. “The fate of the Palestinians is no longer an overriding political concern for most Arab regimes”

JNS
The End of the Arab-Israeli Conflict
by Gary C. Gambill
September 6, 2020

…The Israel-UAE agreement and regional reaction to it underscores that the fate of the Palestinians is no longer an overriding political concern for most Arab regimes. This is partly because it is no longer a salient concern of their subjects, according to James Zogby, whose polling firm has conducted regular surveys of public opinion in major Arab countries for years. The latest survey in September 2019, he notes, revealed that there has been “sea of change in attitudes toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” which “ranked in the bottom tier of priorities in every country.” READ MORE

“Only about one-hundredth of 1 percent of in-person votes are rejected, whereas rejection rates of 1 percent are common with mail-in votes, and many states exceeded that during their primaries this year”

POLITICO
Democrats Should Curb Their Enthusiasm for Mail-in Voting
by Rich Lowry
September 2, 2020

There’s a giant scheme afoot to disenfranchise voters in November—it’s called mail-in balloting. Mail-in voting has, like many things in our politics, taken on the aspect of tribal warfare—if President Donald Trump is vociferously against it, Democrats must be vociferously for it, and vice versa. Absentee voting isn’t as secure as in-person voting, but there’s no evidence of widespread fraud, as Trump repeatedly alleges, sometimes in ALL CAPS. Nor is there any evidence that, at least prior to this campaign, mail-in voting has favored Democrats, as the president also believes. READ MORE

“A Polish ex-Communist taught me a hard-earned lesson in the difference between bad and worse”

WALL STREET JOURNAL
Vote for the Czar, It’s Important
by Ruth Wisse
August 31, 2020

…There were three parts to the lesson—two that she spelled out for me, and a third that I have since added on my own.The first was the all-important political distinction between bad and worse. Czarism might have seemed intolerable, but the Communist regime proved crueler than the evils it had come to replace. The Communists had learned from their time in czarist prisons to make conditions harsher, torture more painful and deadlier. When weighing political options, never assume that change is for the better. READ MORE SUBSCRIPTION CONTENT

Kosovo intends to establish diplomatic ties with Israel and both that Balkan-Muslim majority nation as well as Serbia plan to open embassies in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed both historic announcements, which were made by US President Donald Trump from the White House’s Oval Office on Friday, during a meeting to establish normalized economic ties between Serbia and Kosovo“Kosovo will be the first Muslim-majority country to open an embassy in Jerusalem.  As I said during the last days, the circle of peace and recognition of Israel is expanding with more countries expected to join,” Netanyahu said. Bahrain joins Saudi Arabia, extending airspace access to Israel

New Bahrain Policy to Allow Flights Between Israel and UAE to Cross Its Airspace
by Reuters
September 4, 2020

Flights between Israel and the United Arab Emirates will be able to fly over Bahrain after the kingdom on Thursday said all services to and from the UAE can cross its airspace. The decision, which the kingdom’s aviation authority said came at the request of the UAE, follows a historic agreement last month between Abu Dhabi and Israel to normalize ties. In August, Israel‘s intelligence minister said Bahrain and Oman could be the next Gulf countries to follow the United Arab Emirates in formalizing ties with Israel. READ MORE

“Israel finally has a prime minister willing to take the necessary action to put a stop to the Supreme Court’s power grab and so defeat the gravest threat Israel faces as a Jewish and democratic state”

ISRAEL HAYOM (by agreement with JNS)
The Rat in Israeli Public Life
by Caroline Glick
September 4, 2020

In Israel’s politicized justice system judges, prosecutors and police investigators have unchecked powers the likes of which no legal system in any other democracy ever possessed…Last Thursday, the Supreme Court issued two rulings. In the first, Supreme Court President Esther Hayut and her deputy Yehuda Melzer ordered the destruction within three years of the community of Mitzpeh Kramim in the Benjamin District of Judea. The ruling is stunning because from the outset, Mitzpeh Kramim was established under the close supervision of the Justice Ministry. Residents did nothing without Justice Ministry approval. READ MORE

“Americans of all races and political outlooks revile and attack Jews with unprecedented glee, while American Jews would rather talk about anything else”

TABLET MAG
Wake Up America, and Smell the Anti-Semitism
by Eve Barlow
September 3, 2020

It seems that American Jews don’t see anti-Semitism in America because they don’t want to, not because it isn’t real. They choose not to see it because it makes them uncomfortable. Or they only see it when it comes from the other “side.” Yet for an outsider, the normalizing of open anti-Semitism in this country on all “sides” is shocking. This past week, in addition to the Delaware Chabad [burning to the ground], Nazi symbols were painted on a bus stop in Colorado Springs and Philadelphia’s NAACP President Rodney Muhammad was removed after posting an anti-Semitic meme to Facebook. JNS Who should Jews fear most during an ‘uprising’? Feeding panic about militias and anti-Semitism amid urban unrest is gaslighting. The real threat to Jewish security and to all Americans is the breakdown of the rule of law…We should never be complacent about anti-Semitism from the far right. But to pretend that the carnage in America’s cities is the work of anyone but the far left, associated anarchists and some elements of the Black Lives Matter movement is not merely false but a transparently politically motivated sleight of hand maneuver.

Mandatory California high school curriculum would follow an “ethnic studies model curriculum” which accuses Jews of possessing “racial privilege”

California ethnic studies course accuses Jews of ‘racial privilege’
by Josh Plank
September 2, 2020

The California legislature passed AB-331 on Monday, coming one step closer to becoming the first U.S. state to require all high school students to complete an ethnic studies course in order to graduate…Last year, under pressure from Jewish groups, several sections of the proposed curriculum were dropped, such as “Direct Action Front for Palestine and Black Lives Matter,” “Call to Boycott, Divest, and Sanction Israel,” and “Comparative Border Studies: Palestine and Mexico.”…The model curriculum also contains large sections exploring the Black Lives Matter movement, such as “Black Lives Matter and Resistance to The Prison Industrial Complex”…READ MORE

FORWARD Jewish caucus inserts anti-bias ‘guardrails’ into California ethnic studies law Members of the California Legislative Jewish Caucus — having dealt with anxiety and outrage in the Jewish community about the first draft of an ethnic studies model curriculum that many say contained anti-Jewish and anti-Israel bias — are now breathing easier thanks to “guardrail” language they helped insert into AB 331 less than a week before the state Senate voted it through.

Trump Urges Iran Not to Execute Wrestler for 2018 Murder Confession Apparently Made Under Torture
by Michael Lipin, Ramin Haghjoo
September 3, 2020

U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Iran not to execute a wrestler sentenced to death for murder in connection with an anti-government protest in 2018, after Iran’s top court upheld the wrestler’s sentence despite him retracting a confession that he said was made under torture…[Navid] Afkari is a 27-year-old Iranian freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestler from the south-central city of Shiraz who has won medals in domestic and international competitions. A criminal court in Fars province, of which Shiraz is the capital, had handed Afkari the death penalty for murder in the killing of a local security guard of a government water facility…READ MORE
