The Holocaust: “Leading American historians and rabbis covered for FDR’s mistake”

Franklin Roosevelt Betrayed Europe’s Jews
by Sol Stern
January 30, 2020

…David Wyman’s massive 1984 study, The Abandonment of The Jews: America and The Holocaust, 1941-1945demolished virtually every argument used by the Roosevelt biographers to exonerate the president. It also became a surprise bestseller. Wyman’s most disturbing revelation…was that in the summer of 1944 U.S. war planes were flying over Auschwitz on their way to attacking German oil refineries farther north.  The bombers could have dropped some of their payload on the death factories then operating on overtime, or on the rail lines leading to the camp—a proposal advocated by a wide array of Jewish leaders in the United States and Palestine. MLB Will Not Schedule Any More Promotions of Roger Waters
by Associated Press
February 8, 2020

Major League Baseball will not schedule any more advertising on its platforms promoting music artist Roger Waters. The leadership of the Jewish advocacy organization B’nai B’rith International sent a letter to baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred last month criticizing the sport’s involvement in ticket sales for Waters’ This is Not a Drill tour. MLB.com was among the organizations sponsoring ticket presales. B’nai B’rith President Charles O. Kaufman and CEO Daniel S. Mariaschin said Waters’ views on Jews and Israel “far exceed the boundaries of civil discourse.” READ MORE

GATESTONE
The Real Reason Arabs in Israel Do Not Want to Live in ‘Palestine’
by Khaled Abu Toameh
February 4, 2020

Arab citizens of Israel, who number nearly two million, are up in arms about US President Donald Trump’s plan for Middle East peace, which proposes including some of their communities in a future Palestinian state. Since the unveiling of the plan, thousands of Arabs have been demonstrating to express their rejection of the idea of placing them under the sovereignty of a Palestinian state…Many Arab citizens of Israel see how Palestinians living under the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the West Bank and Hamas in the Gaza Strip are subject to human rights violations on a daily basis. German lawyer sues Expedia for denying service to Israeli
by Benjamin Weinthal
February 3, 2020

A prominent German attorney has filed a lawsuit against online travel agency Expedia for denying service to an Israeli passenger who wanted to fly on a Kuwait Airways plane. A court hearing will take place on Wednesday, attorney Nathan Gelbart told The Jerusalem Post on Saturday. “Kuwait Airways denies transportation of Israeli passengers because of a racist boycott law against the Jewish state, claiming it must not let Israeli passengers on board,” he said. “The truth is: Kuwait Airways does not want to transport Israeli passengersREAD MORE

Sudan leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan holds talks with Israeli PM in Uganda, marking dramatic turnaround; Israeli flights may soon be allowed over Sudan, cutting hours off route to South America

Netanyahu meets leader of Sudan; former foes to move toward normalization
by Raphael Ahren
February 4, 2020

Dramatically improving ties with a former bitter foe, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday met with the transitional leader of Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, during a whirlwind visit to Uganda. Netanyahu and Burhan met secretly in Entebbe at the residence of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and agreed to gradually normalize relations, a senior Israeli official told The Times of Israel, speaking on condition of anonymity. The meeting marks a sharp turnaround for the two countries, once sworn enemies and still technically at war. Sudan — a Muslim-Arab country in northeastern Africa — has recently moved away from Iran’s influence...READ MORE

Illinois Congressman Lipinski’s support for Israel “was never a contention point until his opponent, Marie Newman, turned it into one last cycle by reaching out to the large Arab community in the district and weaponizing the topic against him”

JEWISH INSIDER
How an Illinois congressional race has become a circular firing squad with Israel in the center
by Ian Deitch
February 4, 2020

Illinois’ 3rd congressional district is a grouping of predominantly Catholic neighborhoods in Chicago’s west and southwest suburbs, where this spring’s primary elections are widely seen as a referendum on affordable health care and women’s reproductive rights. And yet, Israel has become a campaign issue in the district’s Democratic primary. In recent months, challengers to Rep. Dan Lipinski — including Marie Newman, who lost to Lipinski by a razor-thin margin in 2018 — have gone after the eight-term congressman for his support of the Jewish state. Lipinski and Newman, joined by two newcomers, will face off again in the state’s March 17 primary. The winner will potentially go up against Arthur Jones, a former member of the American Nazi party. “President Trump is telling them to suck it up or lose because the Israelis are going to get what they need to survive”

The Palestinians’ bluff has been called
by Melanie Phillips
January 31, 2020

US President Donald Trump’s Middle East “deal of the century” offers the Palestinians a state. They have rejected it and threatened instead to ramp up violence against Israel. No one can be surprised. They have rejected every offer of a state previously made to them in 1937, 1947, 2000, 2008 and 2014. So is this latest deal anything more than Groundhog Day for the Middle East all over again? Yes, because this isn’t a deal. It’s an ultimatum. Israel intends to enact its part in the plan unilaterally by declaring sovereignty over the Israeli settlement blocs and the Jordan Valley. READ MORE

PUNDICITY Ilan Berman: Trump’s Plan Forces Palestinian Choices At Tuesday’s [White House] press conference, the ambassadors of Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates were prominently on display – a sure sign of their governments’ backing of the U.S. proposal. Since then, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Morocco have all publicly signaled their support of the American plan as well. In the process, they’ve made clear that the Palestinians won’t automatically be able to rely on Arab support if they decline to engage constructively.

“Tel Aviv is, from the Muslim perspective, as much a “settlement” as any of the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. Jews cannot be legitimate sovereigns over either”

Understanding the ‘deal of the century’ from a Muslim perspective
by Harold Rhode
February 2, 2020

Unsurprisingly, the Palestinian answer to the Trump administration’s historic “deal of the century” peace plan—as it would have been to any plan—was a resounding “no.” The ultimate source of Palestinian rejectionism comes from the deeply rooted belief that according to Islamic law, any territory that ever comes under Muslim rule must remain Muslim forever. All of Israel and the West Bank were captured by the Muslims in 637-638 C.E. That means that from a Muslim perspective, it is Muslim territory, forever. (According to this view, Spain, too, which Muslims ruled from 712 to 1492 C.E., still belongs to the Muslims.) READ MORE

JEWISH JOURNAL Micha Danzig: Bogus Maps to Back a Bogus Cause and Continued Rejection of Peace In his kleptocratic hands, Abbas held up one of the many iterations of the most popular memes of the hate-Israel crowd. The “Disappearing Palestine” or “Palestine Loss of Land” maps. These maps are such a ubiquitous part of the “Palestinian narrative” that a Google Image search under “Palestinian land” results in the first 23, and 59 of the first 70, images being some variation of these duplicitous maps. The most common version of these maps is the below version, which has been promoted by numerous haters of Jewish sovereignty in the land of Israel…

Liberal Jewish seminaries that become woker-than-thou workshops risk losing their defining missions tomorrow – and will continue alienating Jews-in-the-pews today

Are rabbinical schools becoming anti-Israel pulpits?
by Gil Troy
February 5, 2020

In 2011, when Rabbi Daniel Gordis highlighted “how lonely it can be for an unapologetically pro-Israel student at some of today’s rabbinical schools,” his Conservative and Reform colleagues excoriated him for exaggerating. Today, his criticisms seem mild; things are far worse. Every year, I hear from non-Orthodox rabbinical students that, in their programs, the once-marginal anti-Israel voices, while not the majority, have gone aggressively mainstream – often bullying Zionist students and speakers…The debate about how to teach Israel, how to foster Jewish patriotism, how to develop a big tent, left-to-right American Zionism, and how much anti-Zionism to tolerate in rabbinical seminaries is complicated.
