The West’s “self-asphyxiation leads naturally to a decadence that opens the way to new barbaric civilizations”

France Slowly Sinking into Chaos
by Guy Millière
August 3, 2019

…President Macron looks like an authoritarian leader when he faces the disgruntled poor. He never says he is sorry for those who have lost an eye or a hand or suffered irreversible brain damage from extreme police brutality. Instead, he asked the French parliament to pass a law that almost completely abolishes the right to protest, the presumption of innocence and that allows the arrest of anyone, anywhere, even without cause. The law was passed. In June, the French parliament passed another law, severely punishing anyone who says or writes something that might contain “hate speech”. The law is so vague that an American legal scholar, Jonathan Turley, felt compelled to react. “France has now become one of the biggest international threats to freedom of speech”, he wrote. “Hoping for AOC repeat, progressive challengers target Jewish Democrats Lowey, Nadler and Engel”

NY JEWISH WEEK
Gunning For Pro-Israel House Reps.
by Shira Hanau
31 July 2019

Between the three of them, Reps. Eliot Engel, Nita Lowey and Jerry Nadler have 87 years of experience in Congress, three powerful committee chair positions — and at least six primary challengers gunning for their removal…With the momentum of the activist wing of the Democratic Party against them, the three most powerful members of the New York delegation in the House, and three of the most pro-Israel Democrats in Congress, could face their first real primary challenges in a political landscape dramatically different from the one they first entered when they came to Congress in the 1990s. Boston JCRC: ADL and mainstream Jewish organizations–like JCRC–will decide what’s antisemitic

AMERICAN THINKER
The Anti-Semitism Monopoly
by Ilya Feoktistov
August 4, 2019

Recently, while defending Democratic congresswoman Rashida Tlaib from charges of anti-Semitism over her Holocaust comments, Jeremy Burton, the head of Boston’s umbrella Jewish community organization [JCRC], asserted a cartel monopoly for establishment Jewish leaders on the privilege “to determine what is, or is not, antisemitic.”…Totally not anti-Semitic, however, according to Burton, are: Occupy Wall StreetBlack Lives Matter, several Boston Muslim clerics who preach conspiracy theories about Jews, but whom Burton calls friends and teachers, pro-Hamas propaganda taught in Boston-area schools, Iran, Syrian refugees, the aforementioned Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) biggest booster in Congress, Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA). READ MORE

Democrat Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib throws Muslim American constituent under the BDS bus

WASHINGTON TIMES
Rashida Tlaib silent on constituent targeted by BDS threats and vandalism
by Beth Bailey
August 2, 2019

…It was not an impending boycott which led Lebanese and Muslim American Sam Zahr to give up on opening his Dearborn, Michigan, burger franchise after spending $180,000 preparing the location. What stopped him were the constant threats, the episode of vandalism, and the harassment he experienced in the name of BDS. When Zahr acquired the license for his first Burgerim franchise in Dearborn in July 2018, he did not know that the company, whose name means “many burgers” in Hebrew, was founded by an Israeli. “Even rightist Israeli governments used to subconsciously regard them as potentially temporary, settler leaders say. Now, they claim, that’s all changed. Next stop: Full integration”

TIMES OF ISRAEL
Goodbye withdrawal, hello sovereignty: The triumph of the settlers
by David Horovitz
August 4, 2019

…Over the last few years, though, that quest for Israeli legitimacy seems to have made unprecedented progress. Traumatized by the strategic onslaught of West Bank-hatched suicide bombings known as the Second Intifada, by Hamas’s takeover of Israeli-evacuated Gaza, and Hezbollah’s dominance of the former Israeli security zone in southern Lebanon, mainstream Israel has become increasingly disinclined to relinquish adjacent territory in the unreliable cause of peace. “Already a tsunami of comment about this carnage has flooded over the public square, most of it vehement, angry, defensive, or bitter; all of it wearily familiar; virtually none of it constructive or empathetic”

BOSTON GLOBE
Our sociopathic civil discourse
by Jeff Jacoby
August 5, 2019

Like many Americans, I went to bed Saturday night aghast at news of the massacre in El Paso, Texas, only to wake up Sunday morning to reports of a second awful massacre in Dayton, Ohio. Later on Sunday I learned of yet another mass shooting, this one in Chicago; no one was killed, but seven victims ended up in the hospital. All this came just a week after a gunman opened fire at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California, yelling “I’m really angry” as he killed three people before shooting himself in the head. READ MORE

Shuttered Israel Project established in 2002, has seen a rapid decline in donations in recent years

JERUSALEM POST
The Israel Project closes its offices
by Omri Nahmias
August 3, 2019

After weeks of uncertainty, The Israel Project (TIP), a Washington-based pro-Israel organization, closed its operation in Jerusalem. Its Washington offices are also expected to close shortly. The organization, established in 2002, has seen a rapid decline in donations in recent years: from $8.7 million in 2015 to $4.9 million in 2016. And last month, its CEO Josh Block resigned as well. “People from many different organizations are calling to show support,” said Lior Weintraub, former head of the project’s Israel office. “From the IDF to Israeli politicians, people want to know what happened.” READ MORE

Canary Mission: IfNotNow and American Muslims for Palestine are partners in campaign against Israel

JNS
New report highlights ties between IfNotNow and anti-Semitic pro-Palestinian group
by Eliana Rudee
July 30, 2019

…“The Jewish community should find the AMP and IfNotNow partnership particularly worrying,” according to Canary Mission. “IfNotNow is not a youthful Jewish organization, but in fact, it’s “a well-trained, radical fringe group that has no qualms about partnering with anti-Semites.” Canary Mission’s report shows that 58 IfNotNow members have actively partnered or trained with 25 of AMP’s most anti-Semitic professional activists. [AMP’s Hatem] Bazian has previously spread classic anti-Semitism, denied Jewish peoplehood and compared Israel to Nazi Germany, stating his personal approval of the partnership with IfNotNow. “Bizarrely, while Israel has approved the new Gaza hospital project, Palestinian Authority officials are trying to foil it”

Palestinians: What Is Wrong With Building a Hospital?
by Bassam Tawil
August 2, 2019

It hardly counts as news that Palestinian Authority leaders are obsessed with US President Donald J. Trump and his administration. Yet, these leaders have actually reached a new depth of obsession: they are now seeking to prevent the establishment of a new hospital for their people in the Gaza Strip. The new field hospital, consisting of 16 departments, is slated to be built near the Erez border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Israel. The hospital was approved by Israel as part of ceasefire understandings reached during the past few weeks with the Hamas rulers of the Gaza Strip under the auspices of the United Nations, Qatar and Egypt. “How the congresswoman from Maine, who’s never shown any interest in the Middle East, turned against Israel”

TABLET MAG
Forget the Squad, Politicians Like Chellie Pingree Represent the Real Threat to Israel
by K.C. Johnson
July 31, 2019

…Most coverage of the [anti-BDS] vote focused on Rashida Tlaib, who used the debate to analogize BDS to unsuccessful pre-World War II boycott efforts against Nazi Germany, and her fellow freshman Democrat, Ilhan Omar. But where the squad members attracted the headlines, a more notable opponent of the bill was far lower profile—Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, the only New England legislator to oppose the resolution and a sign, perhaps, of things to come. It’s likely Pingree, rather than figures such as Omar and Tlaib, who represent the greatest looming threat to Israel in the coming years. READ MORE
