Myths and Facts: Gaza’s Deadly “Protests”
by Daniel Pomerantz
April 1, 2018

During the Passover weekend, some 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza approached the border with Israel and carried out a variety of violent activities in what they call the “Land Day Protests” or the “March of Return.” We’ve seen quite a bit of mishandled coverage, so here are the main myths and facts so you can better understand the situation and also speak up when you see inaccurate or biased media.  Myth: This is a non-violent “protest” or a “march. Myth: Israel is shooting innocent civilians. Myth: Israel is shooting people in the back or while they are running away. Why Leaving Syria Early Would Be a Disaster
by Matthew RJ Brodsky
April 4, 2018

The Trump administration’s confused messaging on Syria reflects a confused policy, in which strategy and objectives are not aligned to achieve an outcome that serves America’s best interest. During a speech in Ohio last week, President Trump indicated that, having nearly reached the goal of destroying ISIS, he would be pulling out the 2,000 or so U.S. troops from Syria in the near future. “Let the other people take care of it now,” he declared. “Very soon, very soon, we’re coming out.” Other reports indicate that he’s been contemplating such a move with top aides since mid-February. “The harsh reality is that the objective of the P.A. has never been peace, but the gradual, staged elimination of the State of Israel”

The end of the era of Palestinian deception
by Sarah N. Stern
March 29, 2018

For a quarter of a century, the Palestinian Authority has cynically wrapped itself inside a fig leaf dubbed as the “Peace Process.” The naked truth, however, is that it has been using every means available to incite for, incentivize and reward terrorism. With Friday’s passage of the Taylor Force Act, which aims to deduct payments to Palestinian prisoners and martyrs, fissures are finally emerging in its iron wall of deception. The phrase “Peace Process” served as an ingenious linguistic sedative, lulling the international community into the dream of a peaceful P.A. READ MORE

IDF: At least 10 of the 16 killed at Gaza border were members of terror groups
by Judah Ari Gross, Agencies and Staff
March 31, 2018

The Israeli military on Saturday night identified 10 of the 16 people reported killed during violent protests along the Gaza security fence as members of Palestinian terrorist groups, and published a list of their names and positions in the organizations. On Friday, some 30,000 Palestinians took part in demonstrations along the Gaza border, during which rioters threw rocks and firebombs at Israeli troops on the other side of the fence, burned tires and scrap wood, sought to breach and damage the security fence, and in one case opened fire at Israeli soldiers. New Documentary Film Sheds Light on Hitler’s Hollywood
by Simone Somekh
March 23, 2018

…This is the premise of Hitler’s Hollywood, a new documentary on the German film industry under the Nazi regime between 1933 and 1945, directed by Rüdiger Suchsland…Welcome to Adolf Hitler’s Hollywood. A monumental spectacle attentively orchestrated by Joseph Goebbels, the Reich’s Minister of Propaganda, whose job involved controlling all German media and, of course, movies. He controlled scripts, castings, everything…Narrated in its English version by German cult actor Udo Kier, Hitler’s Hollywood is a spine-chilling, yet also dreamy, 100-minute succession of scenes from Nazi-era movies, which emerge as precious historical documents and mirror the main obsessions of the regime. by Yasser Okbi, Maariv Hashavua, JPost Staff
March 29, 2018

Two Israeli F-35 fighter jets entered Iranian airspace over the past month, Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida reported on Thursday. The act is a signal of heightened regional tensions, especially in light of recent Israeli military attacks in Syria, including against Iranian bases in the country. Sources quoted in Al-Jarida stated that two stealth fighters flew over Syrian and Iraqi airspace to reach Iran, and even targeted locations in the Iranian cities Bandar Abbas, Esfahan and Shiraz. Palestinian Government Still Paying Terrorists With U.S. Taxpayer Funds, Defying U.S. Law
by Adam Kredo
March 30, 2018

The Palestinian Authority is continuing to pay out salaries to convicted terrorists using funds provided by the American taxpayer, a policy that defies a recent U.S. law mandating the PA stop these subsidies or face a cutoff in U.S. aid dollars… Palestinian officials in recent days have rejected a new U.S. law, known as the Taylor Force Act, or TFA, that bans the PA government from providing salaries to terrorists and their families, a longstanding policy that had become the center of controversy after it was found U.S. taxpayer aid dollars to the Palestinians had been used to subsidize this practice. Ruth Wisse on Passover: “Echoes of Exodus in the rise of modern Israel from the Holocaust’s ashes”

WALL STREET JOURNAL
To Appreciate Freedom, Remember Slavery
by Ruth R. Wisse
March 29, 2018

…The Passover story should never be left half told. Understandably, American Jews felt compelled to commemorate the unprecedented brutality of the Holocaust and its victims. They erected museums and memorials and insisted the subject be taught to schoolchildren. But the 1940s witnessed another event equally unparalleled in human history. Zionism, the Jewish movement for self-liberation, took off in Europe at the same time as German anti-Semitism, too late for the rescue of European Jewry but in time to shelter its survivors. HEARTLAND INSTITUTE
Illinois Pension Promises Exploded Over Thirty-Year Period
by Joshua Paladino
March 6, 2018

…The report states the pension benefits promised to Illinois state and local government employees increased by 1,061 percent between 1987 and 2016, with pension liabilities growing 127 percent faster than the median income of Illinois households over that time period. The report, published in February by Wirepoints, Inc., a media organization providing state economic and fiscal news, was written by Wirepoints president Ted Dabrowski and policy analyst John Klingner. According to data from Truth in Accounting, a nonpartisan watchdog group promoting fiscal accountability, Illinois’ total promised pension benefits exceed available assets by about $138.4 billion.  READ MORE
