by Staff
July 20, 2020

Around two-thirds of US voters describe themselves as pro-Israel and oppose reducing American security aid to the Jewish state, according to a new poll. The survey — performed by The Mellman Group for the Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI) — found that 67 percent of all voters, 68 percent of Democrats and 68 percent of voters in battleground states view themselves as pro-Israel. Among Democrats, 72 percent called Israel a “strong US ally,” and 71 percent wanted to see a party platform adopted this year that was at least as favorable to Israel as the 2016 one. READ MORE

Israel and the Sino-Iranian alliance
by Caroline Glick
July 17, 2020

…Following weeks of feverish rumors, Iran and China have concluded a strategic accord. Last weekend, the New York Times reported on the contents of a final draft of the agreement. In its opening line, China and Iran describe themselves as “two ancient Asian cultures, two partners in the sectors of trade, economy, politics, culture and security with a similar outlook and many mutual bilateral and multilateral interests.” Henceforth, they, “will consider one another strategic partners.” Substantively, the deal involves Iran supplying China with oil at below market prices for the next 25 years and China investing $400 billion in Iran over the same period. China committed to expanding its presence in the Iranian banking and telecommunication sectors. READ MORE

Stoudemire, who is Black and Jewish: “There’s more similarities with the African Americans and Jewish people than there are differences”

TMZ SPORTS
Amar’e Stoudemire Cites Lack of Black Leadership for Rise In Anti-Semitic Rhetoric
July 17, 2020

Pro basketball star Amar’e Stoudemire is both Black and Jewish — and says he’s uniquely positioned to help “bridge the gap” between the two groups. Stoudemire has been living and playing ball in Israel since 2016 — but he’s been paying attention to the recent wave of anti-Semitic comments from high profile people like DeSean Jackson, Stephen Jackson and Nick Cannon. All 3 of the above-mentioned stars have apologized — but Amar’e says moving forward, there should be a focus on educating young people about the SIMILARITIES between Black people and Jews…Stoudemire suggests a “lack of leadership” in the Black community has led to many Black people turning to Louis Farrakhan for leadership…READ MORE

Thank you for using your column in The Hollywood Reporter and your celebrity status to condemn the recent torrent of virulently anti-Semitic tweets, Instagram posts, and other social media expressions targeting Jews in the vilest terms. Thank you for being a rare Black leader and role model who’s not afraid to stand up and condemn hatred when it’s directed against Jews.

Likud minister warns that unless Likud and Blue and White agree on new working relationship, Israel will be ‘on the expressway toward the voting booth’

ISRAEL HAYOM (by agreement with JNS)
Election seems closer than ever as government infighting reaches new high
by Yehuda Shlezinger, Gideon Allon and ILH Staff
July 22, 2020

The fragile coalition between Likud and Blue and White that brought an end to a year-long political stalemate could unravel within days and force Israeli lawmakers to once again dissolve the parliament. The latest crisis began on Wednesday noon after Blue and White sided with the opposition and voted in favor of a bill that bans gay conversion therapy. This caused an uproar among the Haredi parties in the coalition and resulted in the trading of barbs between Likud and its main coalition partner. READ MORE

“Twitter users found themselves locked out of their accounts after using the Star of David in their profile images”

JERUSALEM POST
Star of David deemed ‘hateful imagery’ by Twitter
by Donna Rachel Edmunds
July 21, 2020

The Star of David has been deemed “hateful imagery” by Twitter, which is locking the accounts of users who display it in their profile pictures. The Campaign Against Antisemitism has reported that several Twitter users have contacted them in recent days to report that their accounts had been locked by the social media platform. The reason given? According to messages they received from Twitter: “We have determined that this account violated the Twitter Rules. Specifically for: Violating our rules against posting hateful imagery. You may not use hateful images or symbols in your profile image or profile header. As a result, we have locked your account.” READ MORE

“How the globalist financier’s desire to escape his Jewish identity fuels his Jew-hate”

FRONT PAGE MAG
George Soros’s Multi-Front War Against Israel
by Kenneth Levin
July 17, 2020

…And support for Israel, like that provided by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), has been an explicit target of his seeking to silence voices with which he disagrees, in this case not least by accusing AIPAC’s Israel advocacy of being too influential, somehow suppressing opposing views (a projection of Soros’s own modus operandi) and exerting a supposedly nefarious impact that requires demolishing. As he spells out in a 2007 New York Review of Books article entitled “On Israel, America and AIPAC,” it is nefarious, in his view, because Israel’s refusal to recognize Hamas as a negotiating partner and AIPAC’s backing of that stance stymies what would otherwise be advancement towards peace. That Hamas remains dedicated to Israel’s destruction and, as its charter makes explicit, the murder of all the world’s Jews, is no reason, in Soros’s world view, to refuse to recognize the organization as a legitimate interlocutor in his imagined march towards “peace.” READ MORE

“The increasingly mainstreamed BDS-BLM narrative poses a grave danger to the U.S. and European progressive and liberal Jewish communities”

The BDS-BLM alignment: Implications for Israel and Diaspora Jewry
by Dan Diker
July 19, 2020

Despite universal Jewish support for BLM, it failed to prevent a surge of anti-Semitic violence across the United States in the aftermath of the Floyd murder. Jewish storeowners were assaulted; Jewish-owned stores and restaurants were defaced and looted. Social media has been rife with anti-Semitic libel denouncing the Jewish state and delegitimizing Jews. In the Fairfax neighborhood of Los Angeles, demonstrators were heard screaming, “Kill the Jews.” Synagogues were defaced with graffiti reading, “F-ck Israel,” and “Free Palestine.” Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) organizations have exploited simmering racial tensions by accusing Israel of complicity in the Floyd murder. The BDS strategy is not new. The Jewish state has, for some years, been recast as an illegitimate “white oppressor.” READ MORE

Black Columbia University professor savages “White Fragility” which “aims to combat racism but talks down to Black people” and teaches us “how to be racist in a whole new way”

THE ATLANTIC
The Dehumanizing Condescension of White Fragility
by Professor John McWhorter
July 15, 2020

I must admit that I had not gotten around to actually reading Robin DiAngelo’s White Fragility until recently. But it was time to jump in. DiAngelo is an education professor and—most prominently today—a diversity consultant who argues that whites in America must face the racist bias implanted in them by a racist society…I have learned that one of America’s favorite advice books of the moment is actually a racist tract. Despite the sincere intentions of its author, the book diminishes Black people in the name of dignifying us. This is unintentional, of course, like the racism DiAngelo sees in all whites. Still, the book is pernicious because of the authority that its author has been granted over the way innocent readers think. READ MORE

UNHERD Stop pretending the BLM protests were peaceful A standard retort one often hears is that “the riots” must not be conflated with “the protests,” which is technically accurate in certain contexts. But the distinction is not as obvious as the media like to make out. In many locations, police and fire services were diverted to accommodate these massive protests, which in turn created a vacuum that enabled the outbreak of riotous activity…the resulting destruction may have set their majority-minority neighborhoods back economically for months or years, if not longer

“While China does business with Israel’s #1 enemy, Israel is doing business with China”

JERUSLAEM POST
After the China-Iran deal, why is Israel still working with Beijing?
by Yaakov Katz
July 16, 2020

In six weeks, at the end of August, a number of international construction groups will submit their offers for an estimated NIS 15 billion tender to construct the Tel Aviv Light Rail’s Green and Purple lines. This is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Israeli history, meant to connect portions of Gush Dan with the middle of Tel Aviv. What makes the tender noteworthy is that out of the six groups pre-approved to submit proposals, three of them include a Chinese partner. In addition, all three of the Chinese companies are owned by the state. READ MORE

Coronavirus: Arab countries, Palestinian and Israeli cooperation must be welcomed
by Toby Dershowitz and Talia Katz
July 17, 2020

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, good news is hard to come by. However, historical foes in the Middle East have teamed up to fight the virus, breaking taboos and opening up new areas of cooperation. Arab countries and Palestinian health workers have been working closely with Israel in delivering aid and researching life-saving treatments. Within Israel, Arab Israeli citizens have been at the forefront of the pandemic response. Half of the pharmacists, a quarter of the nurses, and a fifth of the doctors in Israel are Arab. “The Israeli health care system is an inspiring place,” said Arsalan Abu Much, a doctor at Sheba Medical Center, the largest hospital in Israel.
