Tulsi Gabbard comes out pro BDS “aligning herself with the most radical members of her party”

Gabbard co-sponsors Omar’s pro-BDS bill
by Moshe Hill
August 15, 2019

In July, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) sponsored a Pro-BDS resolution in which she compared the State of Israel to Nazi Germany, apartheid South Africa and other human-rights violators. After public backlash, the resolution was mostly forgotten; there wouldn’t be enough popular support for it to come up for a vote on the House floor, let alone pass Congress. However, recent co-sponsorships of the resolution should make pro-Israel voters sit up and take notice, while the Trump administration’s State Department is fighting back. READ MORE

“There is high probability that Omar and Tlaib would want to visit the Temple Mount due to the fact both congresswomen are Muslim”

AXIOS
Scoop: Inside Israel’s sensitive preparations for visit of Omar and Tlaib
by Barak Ravid
August 14, 2019

Israel is preparing for the possibility that Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, who are expected to arrive in the country on Friday, will want to visit the Temple Mount in Jerusalem together with representatives of the Palestinian Authority, Israeli officials tell me…Israel’s ambassador to Washington, Ron Dermer, announced several weeks ago that out of respect for the U.S. Congress, Reps. Omar and Tlaib would be allowed to enter Israel despite their support for the BDS movement to boycott Israel. As Axios reported on Saturday, President Trump was disappointed in the decision to allow them to enter the country. READ MORE

California State Board of Education’s decision “a victory for all Californians and a defeat for anti-Semites and extremists”

JEWISH JOURNAL
CA State Board of Education Says Proposed Ethnic Studies Curriculum Will ‘Be Substantially Redesigned’
by Aaron Bandler
August 13, 2019

The California State Board of Education (SBE) announced on Aug. 12 that the proposed anti-Israel Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum (ESMC) will be replaced with an entirely new draft…Myriad Jewish groups have criticized the drafted ESMC for supporting the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement and failing to mention anti-Semitism as an example of bigotry; other ethnic groups have also called for the ESMC to be re-drafted. More than 13,000 people have signed an Israeli-American Council petition against the ESMC. The Los Angeles Times also came out against the ESMC in an Aug. 2 editorial.  READ MORE

21 MKs and Samaria Council tell AIPAC and Congress: #TwoStateSolution worse than #BDS

ARUTZ SHEVA
Samaria leader: ‘AIPAC lobby misleads U.S. elected officials’
by Nitzan Kedar
August 12, 2018

Twenty-one Knesset Members addressed an unusual letter to U.S. Congress and AIPAC lobby members, expressing concern and criticism for approving the anti-BDS resolution in the U.S. Congress after introducing clauses supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state. Knesset Members signed onto a letter authored by Samaria Council head Yossi Dagan that states: “We would like to make it clear that the recent resolution of the Congress against BDS (Resolution 246) is a grave mistake because it also expresses support for the so-called ‘two-state solution’, establishing a ‘Palestinian state’ at the heart of the tiny Land of Israel. JNS House Republicans indicate openness to alternatives to two-state solution “The world is constantly changing. Look at Lebanon. Look at Syria. Things are always in flux in these areas, so how can we choose a solution now without knowing what’s going to happen in a few years?” said House of Representatives Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

“Opponents of the film say merely discussing a historical Jewish presence in Jordan could open the door to Israeli territorial claims to the Hashemite Kingdom”

TIMES OF ISRAEL
Jordan halts filming of movie that suggests Jews had a historical presence there
by Mohammed Daraghmeh
August 14, 2019

A fictional caper about an antiquities heist set in an ancient Jordanian city has stirred widespread outrage over the film’s portrayal of historical Jewish ties to Jordan, shining a light on the tenuous peace with neighboring Israel and prompting the government to suspend the movie’s production. Based on a book of the same name, the movie, “Jaber,” follows a Jordanian boy who uncovers a stone in the rose-colored, rock-hewn city of Petra with a Hebrew inscription on it. He sets off to sell it to the highest bidder, but interested parties in Israel catch wind of the find…READ MORE

An obsession with “intersectionality” results in the misuse and abuse of history

AMERICAN SPECTATOR
Hijacking Black History to Bash Israel
by David M. Swindle
August 8, 2019

Academics today are widely known for letting ideology and politics drive their research and teaching, but nowhere is this more evident than in the determination of Middle East studies scholars to situate rejection of Israel’s right to exist within the social justice pantheon of the mainstream Left. And perhaps nowhere is this determination more evident than in Randolph-Macon College history professor Michael R. Fischbach’s new book, Black Power and Palestine: Transnational Countries of Color…Fischbach maintains that black advocates of Arab rejectionism, from Malcom X to the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), genuinely saw Palestinians as “kindred spirits” fighting “globalized racial oppression.READ MORE

Ramah camp denies it removed a counselor because of her views on Israel
by Ben Sales
August 7, 2019

A Conservative Jewish summer camp is denying that it makes personnel decisions based on politics after a senior staff member claimed she was removed from her position because of her left-wing views on Israel. Sylvie Rosen, 22, who has served on staff at Camp Ramah in the Rockies for five summers, told the JTA that she was removed from her job as a counselor for incoming high school juniors after she clashed with her supervisor over Israel education…“It became clear really early on that…my supervisor, wanted our campers to form only really positive relationships with Israel, and I was interested in also talking about the occupation and…Palestine…” READ MORE

Former French spy: “We entered a sort of verbal deal which tells them: I want no more attacks on French soil, but I will allow you to come to France and guarantee nothing will happen to you”

JERUSALEM POST
In the ’80s, French secret service made a deal with Palestinian terrorists
by Cnaan Liphshiz
August 11, 2019

France agreed not to target Palestinian terrorists who killed French Jews in Paris in 1982 if they refrained from carrying out further attacks on French soil, a former top spy revealed. Yves Bonnet, who headed the now-defunct DST service in the 1980s, made the assertion in January to a judge investigating the 1982 attack in which six people were murdered and 22 injured at a kosher restaurant on Rosiers Street, Le Parisien reported Thursday. The suspects in the attack on the Jo Goldberg deli are wanted for questioning per a 2015 French arrest warrant. READ MORE

“Over his decades in office, ‘Middle-Class Joe’s’ family fortunes have closely tracked his political career”

POLITICO
Biden Inc.
by Ben Schreckinger
August 2, 2019

The day the Bidens took over Paradigm Global Advisors was a memorable one. In the late summer of 2006 Joe Biden’s son Hunter and Joe’s younger brother, James, purchased the firm. On their first day on the job, they showed up with Joe’s other son, Beau, and two large men and ordered the hedge fund’s chief of compliance to fire its president, according to a Paradigm executive who was present. After the firing, the two large men escorted the fund’s president out of the firm’s midtown Manhattan office, and James Biden laid out his vision for the fund’s future. READ MORE

“Mamet’s exposure of the liberal-left doctrine as morally contradictory at its core has hit a nerve”

DAILY WIRE
Mamet Speaks Bitter Truth In New Play, And Leftist Critics Aren’t Happy About It
by Andrew Mahon
August 10, 2019

David Mamet’s latest play Bitter Wheat opened in London’s West End in June to largely negative reviews, which is somewhat surprising, because it’s terrific. Then again, maybe it’s not so surprising. Most theatre critics are bleeding-heart leftists, and following his embrace of a more conservative attitude, they simply regard David Mamet as a traitor. It’s petty, but it really is that simple. What Mamet has accomplished with this play — ostensibly a theatrical treatment of the birth of the #MeToo movement — is to present the liberal elite mindset for what it is: self-centred virtue signalling coupled with a complete abdication of personal responsibility.
