The first Palestinian Muslim American running for U.S. Congress in Illinois, Rush Darwishformally announced June 15th he is running in Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District, during a rally at Moraine Valley Community College, Palos Hills, Illinois. The college lies within the largest Islamic community in Illinois, and the largest Palestinian community in the U.S. Additionally the Muslim community’s leadership in the area has historically leaned towards the radical. by Jeremy Sharon

Yoav Sorek, father of the late 19-year-old Dvir Sorek, said that his son “had light in his eyes, and someone who had murderous eyes took him away” from us. Sorek, who was speaking on Israel Radio hours after the body of his murdered son was discovered near Efrat in Gush Etzion, described the 19 years he had with the young man as a “gift,” but said that “the pain will stay with us.” Dvir Sorek was murdered in a terror attack Wednesday night. The IDF and other security forces are still searching for the terrorist. READ MORE

California high school curriculum “fully embraces a course of study about Arabs that views the Palestinian war on Israel solely from the point of view of those who wish to destroy the Jewish state”

ALGEMEINER
California Curriculum Shows the Price of Complacency About BDS
by Jonathan S. Tobin
August 6, 2019

…While concern about right-wing hate is entirely appropriate, the notion that BDS poses no real menace to the Jewish community is utterly bogus. Proof of that comes from California where, as a JNS feature pointed out, an anti-Israel and antisemitic ethnic studies curriculum being promulgated by the state of California has illustrated just where complacency about BDS can lead us. The ethnic-studies model that has been proposed and is currently under review by the California Department of Education remains a watershed moment for the BDS movement. READ MORE

Turkey heading towards ‘Russian-Chinese axis’ after ejection from F-35 program
by Yaakov Lappin
August 8, 2019

The Trump administration’s decision to eject Turkey from the F-35 fighter-jet program in July has significant implications for NATO, Israel and the Middle East. Washington formally ended Turkey’s participation in the stealth-jet program after Ankara ignored American warnings and acquired the Russian-made S-400 surface-to-air missile systems. Turkey was supposed to receive its first two F-35 jets several months ago, but that transfer has been cancelled…As a result, Turkey was told it had to make a choice—either the F-35 and or the S-400—and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chose the latter. “How did this noble idea of intersectionality become an instrument to isolate and vilify liberal Jews?”

JEWISH JOURNAL
How Intersectionality Became a Sinister Threat to American Jewry
by Monica Osborne
August 7, 2019

Intersectionality didn’t originate as an anti-Jewish idea. Coined in 1989 by Columbia University law professor Kimberlé Crenshaw in the context of critical race theory, and with the intention of clarifying the distinction between the overlapping nature of racial and sexual or gender discrimination in a legal context, intersectionality is a word with a noble beginning. The idea that people have various identities that characterize the way the world sees them is simple and reasonable, as liberals and conservatives generally agree. READ MORE

Evangelical leader: Put Omar, Tlaib on no-fly list
by Staff
August 8, 2019

Evangelical leader Laurie Cardoza-Moore has called on the Department of Homeland Security to put freshmen Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib on the no-fly list until they publicly denounce and condemn Hamas terror…“Omar and Tlaib have fundraised for Hamas-affiliates, there is no reason to believe that they don’t share the same ideology, they are a threat to Israel and America’s security. They shouldn’t be able to board a plane to anywhere, especially Israel, unless they publicly condemn today’s murder of an innocent Israeli teenager, which was praised by their friends in Hamas,” said Cardoza-Moore, READ MORE

Blind Anti-Israel Hate Drives the Campaign to Fire Jake Tapper

TOWN HALL
Jake Tapper: No, Rep. Tlaib, I Didn’t Say That About Palestinians
by Cortney O’Brien
August 6, 2019

CNN host Jake Tapper made a point on his “State of the Union” show on Sunday. If leftists are accusing President Trump of stoking violence like the tragic shootings we saw in El Paso and Dayton, then can’t the same accusation be made against Arab leaders whose rhetoric could be connected to terror attacks in the Middle East? Tapper specifically referenced a Palestinian suicide bombing that killed multiple people, including a young Israel girl in a pizza shop, and asked whether or not Arab leaders’ words would be at all to blame for the violence. Pro-Palestinian leaders were offended by the comment. READ MORE

Sources in the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz, speaking during a closed-door session of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, said that Israel was involved in a US-led naval mission protecting ships in the Strait of Hormuz after a number of ships were recently seized by Iran. Katz reportedly said that Jerusalem is providing intelligence and other unspecified operations in the Persian Gulf, adding that he instructed members of the Foreign Ministry to provide said assistance following a recent visit to the United Arab Emirates.
