Australian Prime Minister steps up for Israel: “In the past, we had abstained on these UN resolutions. Not anymore. And not on my watch going forward”

Prime Minister Scott Morrison tell parliament “Israel’s light is now a beacon of democracy in the Middle East”
February 19, 2019

The UN General Assembly is now the place where Israel is bullied and where anti-Semitism is cloaked in language about human rights. Think about it: a nation of immigrants; with a free press; parliamentary democracy; financially prosperous; the source of innovation in the world; and a refuge from persecution and genocide, is somehow now the centre of cruelty in the world, according to some in the UN. That is intellectual fraud…Last year, at my direction, Australia opposed six resolutions that attacked Israel in the UN General Assembly. In the past, we had abstained on these resolutions. Not anymore, and not on my watch. My Government will not turn a blind eye to an anti-Semitic agenda masquerading as defence of human rights in the UN. READ MORE

by Staff
February 17, 2019

The security cabinet on Sunday approved the implementation of a law to cut over half a billion shekels in funds to the Palestinian Authority over its payments to terrorists and their families. Applying the law has faced opposition from the security establishment, who worry it could destabilize the situation in the West Bank…Senior Palestine Liberation Organization official Ahmed Majdalani accused Israel and the United States, which has cut hundreds of millions of dollars in Palestinian aid, of an attempt at blackmail. “The occupation government is seeking to destroy the national authority in partnership with the US administration of Donald Trump”… READ MORE

JNS Palestinian ‘pay-for-slay’ policy will go on, despite Israel’s new law With or without the funds to keep Palestinian Authority civil society afloat, the terrorists will continue to be in clover.

“Israel’s first trip to the Moon, bringing the country’s flag to Earth’s satellite, also the first private mission to the lunar surface”

THE VERGE
Israeli spacecraft poised to become first privately funded lander on the Moon
by Loren Grush
February 19, 2019

On Thursday evening, SpaceX is scheduled to launch another Falcon 9 rocket from Florida, but this time, the vehicle will be carrying a payload it’s never transported before: a spacecraft bound for the Moon. One of the three payloads on the rocket is an Israeli-made lander that will travel through space over the next two months and then try to land on the lunar surface. If the touchdown is a success, it’ll be the first time that a vehicle made with mostly private money has ever landed on the Moon or any other planetary body. The lander is called Beresheet, the Hebrew word for “Genesis,” and it’s the creation of an Israeli nonprofit called SpaceIL. READ MORE

by Elad Benari

The Israel Advocacy Movement has uncovered an ironic fact about newly elected US Democratic congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who has endorsed the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. In a video published on Sunday [see below], the organization revealed that Tlaib’s website was built using Wix, an Israeli company that provides a free platform for web development. The video exposes several other activists and organizations that have used Wix to build their websites. These include, among others, Washington University Students Against Apartheid, Students Against Apartheid at the University of Utah, Football for Palestine and Boycott Divest and Sanction Israel. Visegrad summit cancelled after Israeli FM’s ‘racist’ remark sparks fury
February 18, 2019

A gathering of the leaders of the so-called Visegrad nations in Israel was nixed on Monday after Poland cancelled its participation accusing Israel’s foreign minister of “racist” comments about the culpability of Poles for crimes committed during the Holocaust, in a row that has stoked outrage and soured relations. Slovak government spokeswoman Patricia Macikova told AFP this week’s summit with Israel and the Visegrad Four (V4) — the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia — would be postponed until later in the year following Poland’s pull out. ISRAEL HAYOM ‘Polish PM considering cutting off relations with Israel’ Associates of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said Monday that Morawiecki was considering whether to recall Poland’s ambassador to Israel and possibly even cut off diplomatic ties with Israel following comments by acting Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz about the Poles’ complicity in the Holocaust….“There were many Poles who collaborated with the Nazis. That’s what [the late Prime Minister] Yitzhak Shamir said. They murdered his father. ‘The Poles suckle anti-Semitism from their mother’s breast.’

The Gaza health crisis: Why reduce suffering when you can just blame Israel

Gaza’s self-inflicted health crisis shows why peace remains a fantasy
by Evelyn Gordon
February 13, 2019

Gaza’s health system is on the verge of collapse, Israeli defense officials warned last week. Their report echoed an international aid agency’s findings that Gaza hospitals are severely short of doctors, especially specialists, and lack 60 percent of necessary medications, including basics like painkillers and antibiotics. Entire hospital departments have closed due to the inability to offer treatment, and patients with cancer, diabetes or renal failure are simply being sent home. You might think this situation would prompt at least one of the Palestinians’ two rival governments to take action. But you’d be wrong. READ MORE

“The German government that resides in Berlin has in recent years allowed hundreds of thousands of antisemites from Muslim countries to immigrate without selection”

JERUSALEM POST
Berlin – Europe’s antisemitism capital
by Manfred Gerstenfeld
February 8 2019

Berlin has become Europe’s capital of antisemitism. Those who have been accustomed to considering Malmö as such were, however, not wrong. Malmö still suffers from major antisemitism. Yet, antisemitic incidents require not only potential perpetrators. These in Malmö come mainly out of parts of the Muslim community. There must also be a sufficient number of Jews to harass. Berlin, Germany’s largest Jewish community, has well over 30,000 Jews. The Jewish community in Malmö has shrunk to an estimated 500-600. Perhaps the best solution would be to establish different categories of European antisemitism capitals according to the number of Jews. READ MORE

In Warsaw, even the group seating shows how much has changed in Israel-Arab relations
by Israel Kasnett
February 15, 2019

A scene that would have seemed impossible just a few years ago took place this past week in Warsaw at the U.S.-led peace and security summit with 60 countries in attendance, including the United States, Israel and 10 Arab states, all sitting at the same table. While the 1991 Middle East Peace Conference in Madrid did see Arab states sit in the same room as Israel, the Arab tone was mostly hostile. This time, that tone has changed. One after another, the foreign ministers and delegates from Arab countries expressed their agreement with Israel that fighting Iran is a top priority, and the Palestinian issue is not. READ MORE

‘Here you have Arab foreign ministers, who say that Israelis have the right to defend themselves, and don’t say it in secret but on a stage with 60 other countries present,’ he said. See video below:

by Justine Brooke Murray
February 14, 2019

Two majors at Syracuse University offer college credit to students who intern for an organization that promotes the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.  Both the Citizenship and Civic Engagement (CCE) and the Writing Studies, Rhetoric, and Composition majors at Syracuse University dole out college credit to students who intern for the Syracuse Peace Council (SPC), which describes itself as an “antiwar/social justice” group. The University says that the Syracuse Peace Council “educates, agitates and organizes for a world where war, violence, and exploitation in any form will no longer exist.” READ MORE
