The Islamic Republic of Iran’s representative in Lebanon issued the first public announcement of the Iranian regime’s role in the mass murder of American military and diplomatic personnel in the early 1980s in Beirut. The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) first located and translated the bombshell interview with Sayyed Issa Tabatabai, who serves as the representative of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Lebanon. The state-controlled Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quickly scrubbed the damning disclosure that Tabatabai made about Iran’s role in the suicide bombings of Americans, but MEMRI preserved a copy. Schechter Manhattan, a Conservative Jewish elementary and middle school on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, will close at the end of the school year. The school is framing the closure, which it announced in a video chat with parents on Tuesday evening and in a subsequent email, as a collaboration with Rodeph Sholom School, a nearby Reform Jewish school that is affiliated with a synagogue of the same name. Schechter is encouraging its 63 students, in grades K-8, to enroll at Rodeph Sholom, which will also be hiring Schechter’s head of school and another senior administrator to lead a new Judaic studies program. In the wake of news earlier this year that Malley is under FBI investigation and has been suspended from his State Department role, Team Biden has shielded him from scrutiny by the media and Congress. That’s an increasingly untenable position, and has been a disgrace since news of the Malley probe first broke. Now, according to reports that ran in Semafor and Iran International on Tuesday, some of his acolytes are linked to a pro–Iranian regime echo chamber. The Department of Homeland Security announced the previously speculated move late Tuesday, a week after Netanyahu met with President Biden at the United Nations in New York City…The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) covers 40 mostly European and Asian countries and is reciprocal, meaning American citizens — including Palestinian Americans — can also visit Israel without a visa. “This program not only benefits Israel and the United States, but also citizens who live in the West Bank and Gaza who can now visit Israel visa-free. The kidnapping of the Princeton doctoral student was reported by the Prime Minister’s Office only in July, which announced that she was being held hostage by the Iraqi Shi’ite militia Kataib Hezbollah…In response to questions from the Jerusalem Post, former Soviet prisoner Natan Sharansky said “the Iraqi government has to feel it is their responsibility because, after all the organization that kidnapped her is a part of the government.” READ MORE

Last week, Israel unveiled the much anticipated new Barak tank, an updated version of Israel’s successful family of Merkava tanks. The tank had been in the work for many years led by Israel’s Defense Ministry’s Tank Administration (MANTAK) and local defense companies from a concept almost a decade ago to planning and testing phases over the last half-decade…One of the most impressive pieces of technology is the Iron Vision helmet. The helmet borrows from some of the logic behind Air Force helmets and head-up displays, such that the commander now can see a display of what is happening outside the vehicle, while buttoned down in the tank.
