New York Times Op-Ed Page Gives Peter Beinart a Promotion

Peter Beinart, who in July published an op-ed in The New York Times renouncing Zionism and calling for the elimination of the Jewish state of Israel, has joined the paper’s opinion section “as a contributing opinion writer,” Beinart announced on Twitter on Tuesday. Aside from a byline identifier on his column, there was no immediate official announcement from The New York Times, perhaps because in 2020 the announcement of any new white or Jewish male contributing opinion writer, even an anti-Zionist one, would have to be paired or diluted with a dose of more demographically-appropriate hires. Saudi prince: Palestinian leaders have been ‘failures’ for 70 years
by Staff
October 6, 2020

Palestinian leaders are “failures” who have consistently missed opportunities for a settlement with Israel and who are aligning themselves with the enemies of Saudi Arabia, the former Saudi ambassador to the US and intelligence chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan said in an interview with Saudi-owned al-Arabiya TV that aired Monday. “The Palestinian cause is a just cause, but its advocates are failures. The Israeli cause is unjust, but its advocates are successful. That sums up the events of the last 70 or 75 years,” bin Sultan said. READ MORE

“I can imagine that it feels uncomfortable to see that when one’s name is Googled the first thing that comes up is a Canary Mission profile

ELDER OF ZIYON
Canary Mission isn’t a “blacklist.” It shines a light on what people say and do.
October 6, 2020

At The Intercept, Murtaza Hussain writes about “pro-Israel blacklists”, in an article that blames the Canary Mission for being behind a pro-Israel “cancel culture.” He talks with people who have profiles in the Canary Mission archives and how upset they are about it. But buried deep within the article, he makes an admission about the Canary Mission: Nothing on Awad’s profile, which includes accusations of supporting the Palestinian-led movement to boycott, divest from, and sanction Israel and “demonizing Israel,” indicates that she has ever engaged in illegal activity or even espoused views that could be considered violent, extremist, or anti-Semitic. Some Orthodox Jews bristle at NYC’s response to virus surge
by David Crary and Mariam Fam
October 5, 2020

Amid a new surge of COVID-19 in New York’s Orthodox Jewish communities, many members are reviving health measures that some had abandoned over the summer — social distancing, wearing masks. For many, there’s also a return of anger: They feel the city is singling them out for criticism. The latest blow: an order Monday from Gov. Andrew Cuomo temporarily closing public and private schools in several areas with large Orthodox populations. It will take effect Tuesday. “People are very turned off and very burned out,” said Yosef Hershkop, a Hasidic Jew from Brooklyn who works for a chain of urgent-care centers. “It’s not like we’re the only people in New York getting COVID.” READ MORE

Andrew Cuomo displayed a 2006 image of Jews congregating to single out the religious community when warning that enhanced lockdown measures are likely to come if the gatherings persist. “We know religious institutions have been a problem,” Cuomo said during a Monday press conference.

The Life and Influence of Louis Farrakhan on Jay Z and the Music Industry

The Nation of Islam, under the leadership of Louis Farrakhan, has heavily influenced the modern Hip-Hop community. Watch our video to better understand how this influence has resulted in the Hip-Hop industry’s entanglement with antisemitism. ISGAP applauds YouTube’s decision to remove the Nation of Islam’s (NOI) YouTube channel from its platform. YouTube cited its policies against hate speech in explaining this landmark decision. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center and the American Defamation League, the Nation of Islam and Louis Farrakhan in particular, are among the most active and dangerous purveyors of antisemitism in the United States.

“The possibility of another contentious confirmation hearing recalls the first the Senate ever held, which just happened to be for the first Jewish justice to sit on the court”

What the First Senate Hearing for a Supreme Court Nominee Shows about Today’s Confirmation Process
by Rick Richman
October 6, 2020

Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court nomination, and the possibility of another contentious Senate confirmation hearing, evoke the first time the Senate ever held such a hearing, a little over a century ago—when President Woodrow Wilson nominated, in the same election year in which he was running for a second term, a jurist who belonged to one of America’s religious minorities, and whose views were thought incompatible with the conventional opinions shared by the Washington establishment. That nominee would go on to become the first Jewish justice to sit on the Supreme Court. For the first 142 years of our history, there were no hearings on Supreme Court nominations. Presidents simply sent their names to the Senate, which considered the nominations privately and then voted on them. READ MORE (THERE IS A FREE INITAL SIGNUP TO VIEW IF ARTICLE DOESN’T DISPLAY)

“What the Left’s vicious attacks on Fox News’ star host really symbolize”

Hating Tucker
by Professor Jason D. Hill
October 3, 2020

The attacks on Fox News host Tucker Carlson as a racist, white nationalist, xenophobic, immigrant-hating troll have become coin of the realm in the establishment media. Last week, the Daily Beast hit an all-time low when one of its reporters accused Carlson of blaming George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Jacob Blake for their own deaths and injuries from police. The almost libelous article attributes claims that Carlson actually never made on his show. The Daily Beast reporter simply offers his own dubious interpretations of Carlson’s interpretation of news and facts as he receives them. READ MORE

Is ultra-Orthodox ideological disobedience fueling Israel’s soaring virus rate?
by Nathan Jeffay
October 1, 2020

With Israel currently topping the world record for the rate of new daily cases of COVID-19 infection, some doctors are reaching an uncomfortable conclusion: that the actions of one community are disproportionately responsible for the surge. “I’m afraid to draw this conclusion,” says Dror Mevorach, after a day on the COVID-19 wards at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Medical Center. “I’m not sure people will get it right, and they’ll see anti-Semitism and think I’m chasing the Orthodox, and I don’t want that at all.” But he says he’s unable to ignore the scene in his wards, with numerous patients hospitalized soon after attending large indoor prayer services over Rosh Hashanah. Not long after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) pulled off a surprise upset in the June 2018 Democratic congressional primary, Michael S. Miller, executive vice president and CEO of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, reached out to set up an in-person meeting…Miller, whose organization represents the Jewish community to New York government officials and counts more than 50 local Jewish groups as members, had hoped to begin a dialogue with the young progressive upstart — and, after speaking with her chief of staff, was informed that a meeting with Ocasio-Cortez would be arranged. Two years and multiple follow-ups later, Miller is still waiting on her call. READ MORE

JERUSALEM POST Comparison of US President Donald Trump to a Nazi met with criticism The immediate flashpoint in the debate is a new 30-second ad released Tuesday by the Jewish Democratic Council of America that draws parallels between the rise of fascism in Germany and the Trump presidency. In swift and strong rebukes, the antisemitism watchdogs condemned the ad as offensive. One came from the Anti-Defamation League, which has been anything but shy in calling out a range of Trump’s statements and actions.

JNS Melanie Phillips: Trivializing the true evil of Nazism There is clearly no limit to the depths of moral perversity that the enemies of President Donald Trump are prepared to plumb, not least within America’s Jewish community. The Jewish Democratic Council of America has released a new campaign ad aimed at Jewish voters in swing states which compares Trump’s presidency to the rise of fascism in Germany.
