…With haredim entering the IDF in ever greater numbers to fulfill their compulsory military service, things are changing. This year, for the first time, an official ceremony was held at Jerusalem’s Heichal Shlomo to honor fallen haredi soldiers like Yitzchak Tubal, who took time off yeshiva studies to join the army. On Yom Kippur, 1973, he was leading the prayers for his unit. A few hours later, Egyptian soldiers launched a murderous surprise attack. When a grenade landed at his feet, he didn’t hesitate, covering it with his body to absorb the entire impact and save the lives of his comrades.  READ MORE

by Dan Williams
May 5, 2019

The United States may review its ties with countries it deems as being anti-Israel after what a U.S. envoy said on Sunday was a shift in policy toward equating anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a March speech that anti-Zionism – opposition to Israel’s existence as a homeland for the Jewish people – was a form of anti-Semitism, or hostility toward Jews, that was on the rise worldwide and that Washington would “fight it relentlessly”. Eye-opening video on Gaza corruption; Israel is clearly not their big problem

JERUSALEM POST
Corruption: A Major Cause of Palestinian Suffering
by Pierre Rehov
May 6, 2019

But when you talk to Palestinians about the misappropriation of funds allocated by the international community, the first term they use is “corruption.” Indeed, a study by AMAN – a chapter of Transparency International co-founded by Jordan – shows that, according to several surveys of the Palestinian population, the corruption of their leaders is the second most popular cause of their misery. According to the same surveys, the first cause would be the inability of these same leaders to create a strong economy. The Israeli occupation comes in third place. READ MORE

…Hecht joked that he “became a Jew” only in 1939. This was just around the time he met Peter Bergson, the alias of Hillel Kook, a leader of the Irgun Zvai Leumi underground militia in Palestine, which politically adhered to Vladimir Ze’ev Jabotinsky’s Revisionist Zionism. From 1937 to 1940, the Irgun organized unauthorized immigration to Palestine, then shifted to creating a Jewish Brigade to fight Hitler. In 1942, they changed emphasis to an all-out campaign to save European Jewry. READ MORE

Why I always bring my Glock to Shabbat
by Doree Lewak
May 4, 2019

As an Orthodox Jew, every Shabbat morning it’s the same routine: wake up at 8 a.m., get dressed in my suit and tie, and head out the door with my wife and three children for our 10-minute walk to synagogue. But not before I open my safe and strap on my Glock, which I’ve been carrying to shul for the past year. When I was growing up, synagogue was always a fun, carefree place to go. It was social, it was sacred, but it was never scary. READ MORE

by Kimberly Strassel
May 3, 2019

Do not underestimate how many powerful people in Washington have something to lose from Mr. Barr’s probe. Among them: Former and current leaders of the law-enforcement and intelligence communities. The Democratic Party pooh-bahs who paid a foreign national (Mr. Steele) to collect information from Russians and deliver it to the FBI. The government officials who misused their positions to target a presidential campaign. The leakers. The media. More than reputations are at risk. Revelations could lead to lawsuits, formal disciplinary actions, lost jobs, even criminal prosecution. READ MORE SUBSCRIPTION CONTENT

GATESTONE
Palestinian Leaders and Inconvenient Truths
by Khaled Abu Toameh
May 4, 2019

…The Arab betrayal of the Palestinians is not new. Instead of supporting their Palestinian brothers, the Arab states have been cutting aid to them. According to one report, Arab financial aid to the Palestinians has dramatically dropped in the past two decades. Another report revealed that donations from the Arab world to the Palestinians has been slashed over the past few years by 50%. A mere quarter of the PA’s 2017 budget of approximately $3.7 billion has come from Arab states, the report saidREAD MORE

PALESTINIAN MEDIA WATCH PA misrepresents photos of Holocaust victims as Arabs killed by Jews – again! Official PA TV last month deceitfully broadcast pictures of bodies of Holocaust victims in a Nazi concentration camp presenting them as pictures of Arab victims killed by Jews in the village of Deir Yassin in 1948. Two other pictures, which PA TV also claimed were of Arabs killed in 1948 by Jews, were actually pictures from the Sabra and Shatila massacre of Palestinians by Christian Phalangists in Lebanon in 1982.
