Joan Peters Caro, author of From Time Immemorial, has passed away in Chicago

Joan Peters was a friend, a fellow Chicago CAMERA and StandWithUs board member and a courageous, articulate advocate for Israel. She was well-known in both the pro- and anti-Israel communities because of her groundbreaking and controversial book From Time Immemorial: The Arab-Jewish Conflict Over Palestine. But those of us fortunate to have known Joan personally will remember her as an elegant, authentic, brilliant and most charming friend. She will be missed by many.

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the recent passing of Joan Peters Caronee Friedman, beloved wife of William A. Caro, MD; and the late Stanley A. Kaplan; loving mother of Lori Peters, cherished stepmother of Mark (Mary Dixon) and David Caro; adored grandmother of Ruth and Madeline; dear sister of Barry (Rhonda) Friedman; treasured aunt of Tracy (Eric) Dobmeier, Carrie Friedman and great aunt of Ben, Matt and Nathan; devoted friend to many.  Well known as the best-selling author of, “From Time Immemorial: The Arab-Jewish Conflict Over Palestine”.

Rabbi Michael Siegel will officiate at the funeral services on Thursday, January 8th at 10:00 a.m. at Anshe Emet Synagogue, 3751 North Broadway Street, Chicago.

The Anshe Emet community extends its deepest condolences to the entire Caro family at this difficult time.  May you be comforted among the mourners in Zion and Jerusalem. Amen.
