Genetic study finds widespread Sephardic ancestry in Latin America
by Cnaan Liphshiz
December 27, 2018

In a genetic study of 6,589 people from five Latin American countries, about a quarter displayed traces of what may be Sephardic Jewish ancestry. Geneticist Juan-Camilo Chacón-Duque and his colleagues published their findings last week in Nature Communications magazine, in an article titled “Latin Americans show wide-spread Converso ancestry and imprint of local Native ancestry on physical appearance.” Converso is the Spanish-language word for people who converted from Judaism to Christianity during the Inquisition in Spain and Portugal. Top Swedish Hospital to Make List of 10 Worst anti-Semitic Incidents of 2018
by David Stavrou
December 23, 2018

One of Sweden’s most prestigious hospitals will be included in a high-profile list of the year’s worst cases of anti-Semitism, in a grouping that has in the past included white supremacists and Muslim fundamentalists. Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, recently informed Stockholm’s Karolinska University Hospital that it will appear on its list of the 10 worst anti-Semitic incidents worldwide in 2018. The full list will be published on Thursday. READ MORE

FRONT PAGE MAG Leftists Dominate List of Top 10 Antisemitic Incidents This shouldn’t be surprising. While anyone can commit an act of violence like the Tree of Life massacre, establishment anti-Semitism, as practiced within politics, academia, and major employment categories, is largely a behavior linked to the Left…The Left climbed into bed with black nationalists and supremacists, legitimizing their anti-Semitism.

DAILY WIRE Women’s March Takes Another Hit, This Time In Obama’s Hometown The fallout from a damning exposé on the Women’s March leaders published by Tablet continues, with The New York Times publishing a follow-up piece that echoes some of the key claims of anti-Semitism permeating the leadership of the organization. The latest blow to the embattled group comes from Barack Obama’s hometown of Chicago, where the big annual Women’s March event has just been canceled.

Israeli Elections Likely To Push Back Release Of Trump Peace Plan
by Charles Bybelezer
December 25, 2018

The upcoming Israeli national vote is liable to further delay the release of United States President Donald Trump’s much-hyped two-years-in-the-making peace plan to end the conflict with the Palestinians. The American leader has expressed a desire to roll-out the proposal by February, however, analysts believe that doing so could place electoral pressures on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as he invariably tacks to the right in order to rally his base ahead of the poll. According to sources, the White House prefers to deal with Netanyahu and should its peace plan call for concessions to the Palestinians it could put the premier in a difficult bind. READ MORE

JERUSALEM POST Netanyahu corruption cases to take center stage in election The consensus in the political field these days is that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could have tried a lot harder to come to a compromise with the haredi (ultra-Orthodox) parties or with opposition parties to allow for a haredi IDF enlistment law to pass before the Supreme Court’s January 15 deadline. The real reason Netanyahu wants an early election seems to be that he is racing against Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit, to get reelected before a decision is made to indict him and on what charges.

US fundraising site suspends Palestinian boycott account
by Josef Federman
December 21, 2018

A U.S. software company [Donorbox] said Friday it blocked the fundraising account of the Palestinian-led boycott [BDS] movement against Israel following a complaint by a pro-Israel group that the campaign has links to militant organizations…The complaint noted that the boycott movement’s membership includes the “Council of National and Islamic Forces in Palestine,” an umbrella committee representing all major Palestinian political factions. Committee members include Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, groups that have been branded terrorist organizations by the U.S. READ MORE

Reflections on How Islamist Lawfare Has Succeeded
by Todd Bensman
December 21, 2018

The 10-year anniversary of the “Holy Land Foundation Five” trial in a Dallas federal courtroom has quietly arrived.  In November of 2008 federal prosecutors convicted five leaders of a Muslim charity in a case often described as the largest terrorist fundraising operation in U.S. history….As a staff writer for The Dallas Morning News, covering the FBI at the time, I became what might well be one of the first U.S. targets of Islamist “lawfare…” In early 2000, Steve [McGonigle, now deceased] and I were named as defendants in a libel lawsuit along with two other reporters. The other three of us happened to be Jewish, although this obvious coincidence was never discussed out loud in mixed company at the paper. READ MORE

‪Trump Delivers a Victory to Iran
by Mark Dubowitz and Reuel Marc Gerecht
December 24, 2018

Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. forces from Syria, concurrently with his intention to drastically reduce the number of American soldiers in Afghanistan and the likely soon-to-be-announced further drawdown of U.S. personnel in Iraq, has made mincemeat of the administration’s efforts to contain Iran. If you add up who wins locally by this decision (the clerical regime in Iran, Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad,  Lebanese Hezbollah, Iraqi Shiite radicals, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan) and who loses (Jordan, Israel, the Syrian and Iraqi Kurds and Sunni Arabs, everyone in Lebanon resisting Hezbollah, the vast majority of the Iraqi Shia, the Gulf States), it becomes clear that the interests of the United States have been routed. ARUTZ SHEVA Did Israel request US withdrawal from Syria? Jake Turx, the senior White House correspondent for Ami, claimed Tuesday night that sources had confirmed to him that Israel had encouraged the US to withdraw from Syria ahead of a “winter offensive” against the Hezbollah terror organization. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, who tendered his resignation following President Trump’s decision to withdraw from Syria, reportedly opposed Israel’s offensive against Hezbollah.

Is J Street still pro-Israel?
by David M. Weinberg
December 23, 2018

When it was founded 11 years ago, J Street claimed to be a pro-Israel and pro-peace organization…Since then, alas, J Street has become something else altogether: an organization that spends almost all its time and money besmirching Israel, smearing the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and other leading American Jewish organizations, boosting U.S.-Iran relations and backing political candidates for whom promoting the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement is a badge of honor. But becoming the Shin Bet’s most vital source in the war against the suicide bombers, when your father is helming their West Bank hierarchy, is simply unimaginable. Which is why he got away with it. And why, he would later tell me, when he telephoned his father from the United States to tell him that it was so, and that the whole story was about to become public, it came as a complete shock to Sheikh Hassan Yousef.  READ MORE

Arabs upset at latest “normalization” as a a Jew raised as a Palestinian marries a Jewish woman
December 23, 2018

Israel’s Channel 20 has the story of Daniel Dabash, who grew up in the Arab village of Sur Baher as Nidal Dabash. His mother was Jewish but died in 2002; he grew up knowing she was Jewish but not that he would be considered Jewish as well. His stepmother hated him and he discovered that he was halachically Jewish, so he asked for more information and help on Facebook and got it. Now he just got married to a Jewish woman. And the story is driving Arab social media crazy. READ MORE
