Hadassah surgeons reattach boy’s head to his neck after internal decapitation

5 July 2023

In an extremely rare and complex operation, Hadassah Medical Center surgeons have reattached a 12-year-old boy’s head to his neck after a serious accident in which he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle, the Jerusalem hospital announced on Wednesday. Suleiman Hassan, a Palestinian from the West Bank, was airlifted to Hadassah hospital’s trauma unit in Ein Kerem, where it was determined that the ligaments holding the posterior base of his skull were severely damaged, leaving it detached from the top vertebrae of his spine. The condition, bilateral atlanto occipital joint dislocation, is commonly known as internal or orthopedic decapitation. READ MORE

“The violent attacks by Mohamad Barakat and Dahir Adan may surprise people who still think of Fargo, North Dakota as quintessentially American. Refugee resettlement has changed that”

Three blocks from where Mohamad Barakat opened fire on police officers and firefighters, the Islamic Society of Fargo-Moorhead squats across from a school bus company. Nearby are other elements of the new enclave like the Somali Community Development group which offers English and citizenship classes and the Al Hamdi Restaurant from whose vicinity an eyewitness reported hearing the shots that took the life of one police officer and wounded two others. A “TERF” is a radical feminist leftist who recognizes the material reality of sex. And that can get you canceled — just ask author J.K. Rowling

What is a TERF and Why it Matters in Today’s Political Climate
Kara Dansky
July 10, 2023

…Finally, it is common to characterize TERFs as being essentially conservative or “right-wing reactionaries.” This is not accurate either. Radical feminists generally come from the political Left and typically have very traditional liberal values. Most American radical feminists are either Democrats or Greens, or they have become independents in the past few years because they are tired of the Democratic Party’s embrace of “gender identity” (among other things). I know of no radical feminists who are Republicans and of no Republicans who claim to be radical feminists. READ MORE

Celebrated Israel-hater and antisemite Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to boycott Herzog’s upcoming address to Congress

JERUSALEM POST
Ilhan Omar: ‘No way in hell’ attending Herzog speech to Congress
Lahav Harkov
July 13, 2023

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Jamaal Bowman will not attend the joint address to both houses of the US Congress by President Herzog next week, they said on Thursday. “There is no way in hell I am attending the joint session address from a president whose country has banned me and denied Rashida Tlaib the ability to see her grandma,” Omar wrote in a lengthy Twitter thread that was partly in all-capital letters. The Congresswoman referred to a 2019 decision not to let her and her colleague from Michigan into Israel under a law allowing the government to bar the entry of advocates of boycotting the Jewish State. The organization that planned their trip, Miftah, includes members that supported terrorism against Israel. The NGO published the blood libel on its website, in an article claiming that Jews use the blood of Christians in their Passover rituals. READ MORE

BREITBART Biden Tries Dividing Israeli Leaders: Invites Herzog, Snubs Netanyahu President Joe Biden extended a formal invitation Thursday to Israel’s ceremonial president, Isaac Herzog, to visit the White House next Tuesday — while continuing to snub Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Biden has refused to grant Netanyahu the customary invitation given to all Israeli prime ministers to visit the White House ever since Netanyahu and his right-wing coalition swept parliamentary elections last November.

Israelis are defending themselves against Tehran’s foreign legions

FOUNDATION FOR DEFENSE OF DEMOCRACY
Iran’s shadow war
Clifford May
July 12, 2023

Israelis battled Palestinians in the northern West Bank last week. That’s what most media reported and it’s true as far as it goes. But here’s a more accurate description of reality: Israeli troops battled the Islamic Republic of Iran’s foreign legions in the northern West Bank last week. Tehran is adept at using proxies to fight its wars: Hezbollah in Lebanon, Shia militias in Iraq, Houthi rebels in Yemen. Islamic Jihad, a wholly owned subsidiary of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has mainly operated in Gaza, in association with Hamas, the designated terrorist entity that rules Gaza. Hamas also receives arms, money, and instruction from Iran, and now operates in Lebanon as well. Recently, however, both Islamic Jihad and Hamas have been increasing their presence in the West Bank, a territory that, under the Oslo Accords, the Palestinian Authority is responsible to govern. GATESTONE Bassam Tawil: Iran’s Plan To Drive Jews Out of ‘Palestine’ Iran’s mullahs are seeking to create a situation where Jews no longer feel safe in their own country and are forced to leave Israel. To achieve this goal, the mullahs have instructed their Palestinian terror proxies, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), to step up their campaign of terrorism against Israel and Jews.

An evangelical Christian from South Carolina has become the most effective actor in the fight against BDS

Meet the non-Jewish judge spearheading the fight against BDS in the US
Caroline Glick
July 11, 2023

Caroline’s guest on “The Caroline Glick Show” this week has demonstrated that the most unlikely people can make a massive difference. For two decades, South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Alan Clemmons served as a lawmaker in the South Carolina state legislature. In 2011, angered by then-President Barack Obama’s call for Israel to withdraw to the 1949 armistice lines and by Obama’s claim that the Jews were “occupiers” of the biblical homeland of the Jewish people, Clemmons drafted a resolution recognizing Israel’s right to the Land of Israel. Today, the general anathema to antisemitism in polite society has made “anti-Zionism” a helpfully convenient and common substitute for those courageous social justice warriors

TABLET MAG
The Biden Administration Redefines Antisemitism and excludes today’s most pernicious form of Jew-hatred
Eugene Kontorovich
July 12, 2023

The accusations leveled against Israel often resemble antisemitic claims made throughout history. Instead of the Jews being accused of killing gentile children, Israel is accused of deliberately killing Palestinian children; instead of Jews being accused of causing plague among gentiles, Israel is accused of causing disease among Palestinians. And the accusation of “apartheid” is a modern blood libel—an absurd “Big Lie” that cannot be rectified by mere refutation. Just as the classic blood libel resonated with the theological preoccupations of earlier ages, today’s claims resonate with the ethnic justice concerns of our times. That today several members of Congress can level such libels against the Jewish state without facing sanctions from their party demonstrates how dangerous “polite” antisemitism is. READ MORE

The combination of the economic turmoil in Jenin, life under the military operations, leadership that incites violence, and the inaction of the PA have emboldened extremism

JPOST
Jenin, the West Bank terror capital
Zina Rakhamilova
July 4, 2023

…The security evaluation of Jenin in 2018 was relatively benign, and the IDF only needed to deploy a single battalion to the area; unlike cities like Nablus and Hebron, where Hamas had more popularity. The IDF rarely required regular patrols in the city and would only venture into it based on specific intelligence. Yet, a few years later Jenin has turned into the terror capital of the West Bank. The IDF has directed much of its attention toward Jenin, which has become the epicenter of the ongoing wave of terror. Over time, the PA’s control slowly eroded, creating a vacuum for militant groups to take over the city. Jenin has become a stronghold for Islamic Jihad and Hamas to carry out deadly attacks against Israelis, funded and backed by Iran. READ MORE

Biden Doubles Down, Refusing Netanyahu Visit over ‘Extreme’ Cabinet Members
Joel B. Pollak
July 9, 2023

Biden said in March that he would not invite Netanyahu to the White House because of the his government’s attempt to reform Israel’s powerful judiciary — reforms that largely parallel existing practice in the U.S. In an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria Sunday, Biden said that he would not invite Netanyahu until he could “work through … his existing problems in terms of his coalition,” referring to Israel’s governing parties. Biden said that some of Netanyahu’s coalition partners were the “most extreme members of Cabinet that I’ve seen” since meeting Prime Minister Golda Meir in the early 1970s, whom he noted was not an extremist. Nearly 50 American and Canadian military cadets toured Israel and German death camps in Poland this month, in a trip that seeks to buttress the future officers’ awareness of the history and shared values at the core of the U.S.-Israel relationship. The two-week Israel Strategy and Policy tour, which was initiated by the New York-based MirYam Institute in partnership with the U.S. Defense Department, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the Virginia Military Institute and the Royal Military College of Canada, presented past and present to the future officers…“The vast majority of the participants are not of the Jewish faith yet the connection they forge with Israel … is deeply rooted in shared values and common challenges to Israel, the U.S., Canada and the entire free world,” said Rozita Pnini, the MirYam Institute’s chief operating officer.
