“Jews have taken and are taking #antisemitism very seriously. Non-Jews must do the same”

Jews Are Going Underground
by Deborah Lipstadt
December 29, 2019

In a month of terrible anti-Semitic attacks, including a stabbing yesterday of multiple people at a Hanukkah celebration at a rabbi’s home in Monsey, New York, the news that most depressed me did not involve violence. It was not something done to Jews but something Jews did. A synagogue in the Netherlands is no longer publicly posting the times of prayer services. If you want to join a service, you have to know someone who is a member of the community. READ MORE

NEW YORK POST Karol Markowicz: How liberals are allowing anti-Semitism to flourish Like many of you, I’m thinking, “Not this subject again.” How many columns can be devoted to it? I’ve read them. I’ve written them. It’s exhausting, and it’s dreary. Jews are being beaten up, anti-Semitism flows some years and ebbs in others. So what? But it matters — gravely.

“The 1619 Project represents a new nadir in the politically correct, anti-American machinations of The New York Times”

NEW CRITERION
1619 & all that: On The New York Times’s recent disinformation campaign
January 2020

It was to console its core readership that The New York Times undertook The 1619 Project in a special flood-the-zone issue of its Sunday magazine in August and then in a snazzy, graphics-heavy series of features on its website. For two years, the Times had invested heavily in the vaudeville entertainment called “Trump–Russia.” The spectacular failure of its leading man, Special Counsel Robert Mueller, to deliver a happy ending to that fiasco underscored the essential futility of the entire enterprise. This was something that Dean Baquet, Executive Editor of the Times, grasped instantly. READ MORE

“We are living through the greatest improvement in human living standards in history”

SPECTATOR USA
We’ve just had the best decade in human history. Seriously
by Matt Ridley
December 22, 2019

Let nobody tell you that the second decade of the 21st century has been a bad time. We are living through the greatest improvement in human living standards in history. Extreme poverty has fallen below 10 percent of the world’s population for the first time. It was 60 percent when I was born. Global inequality has been plunging as Africa and Asia experience faster economic growth than Europe and North America; child mortality has fallen to record low levels; famine virtually went extinct; malaria, polio and heart disease are all in decline. Little of this made the news, because good news is no news. READ MORE

GATESTONE Douglas Murray: Celebrating a Great Non-Event of 2019 The hope of most of us in a country such as Britain is not that everybody leaves their faith, but simply that people have religious freedom and that this should include the freedom to leave a faith if you wish to do so with no repercussions against your person.

In a series of tweets, the Orthodox Jewish Public Affairs Council of the Hudson Valley said that five Hasidic Orthodox Jews were taken to hospital on Saturday night, two in critical condition. The Council said the assailant was an African American male, his face partially masked with a scarf. It said the attack took place at 9:50 pm Eastern Time. A number of outlets, including the Haredi Orthodox Vos Iz Neias, identified the building as the Rabbi Rottenberg Shul. Outlets said a Hanukkah party was underway when the attack occurred. READ MORE

Netanyahu wins primaries: “He re-learned a valuable lesson about political campaigning”

JERUSALEM POST
Primaries reinvigorate Netanyahu and tighten the political knot
by Lahav Harkov
December 28, 2019

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spent evening after evening over the past two weeks in the living rooms of Likud activists packed with supporters hanging on his every word. Sometimes he stood on chairs, or even tables to make sure the rapt audiences could see him and hear every word…With the Likud holding its first leadership primary in five years and the most serious race in 14 years, despite rival MK Gideon Sa’ar’s poor odds, Netanyahu decided it was time to get back in touch with the party’s grassroots. The plan worked, with Netanyahu winning a resounding 72.5% victory. Sa’ar’s 28.5% was respectable, but not what he and his supporters had hoped for. READ MORE

“The ICC chief prosecutor’s hand is now controlled by organizations linked to the 3rd Reich”

JERUSALEM POST
The ICC decision on Israel would make Himmler proud
by Richard Kemp
December 26, 2019

SS Reichsfuhrer Heinrich Himmler, architect and director of the Holocaust, would be proud of the latest move by Fatou Bensouda, Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. Intent on the total elimination of the Jewish race, Himmler supported Amin al-Huseini, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, in his plans to eradicate the Jews in Palestine. Now Bensouda and the ICC have joined the international campaign aimed at eliminating the Jewish state, led by al-Huseini’s successors. In a grotesque inversion, the ICC, heir to the Nuremberg war crimes tribunal, has become a propaganda weapon of anti-Semitic hate. READ MORE

ISRAEL HAYOM Professor Avi Bell: There are no judges in The Hague Fatou Bensouda, the ICC’s chief prosecutor, has already adopted doubtful legal arguments made by the Palestinians that: The PLO comprises a state; all parts of Israel that were under illegal occupation by Jordan and Egypt from 1948-1967 – including the Old City of Jerusalem – belong to the state of Palestine; Jewish settlements are an international crime; and IDF soldiers are war criminals. Therefore, we already know what the results of the “investigation” will be and what “evidence” will be collected.

America’s Jewish leaders are “like failed generals fighting the last war” obsessing on Nazis and the political right, deliberately “minimizing the assaults coming from progressives and Islamists”

Why Trump’s Protection Leaves Jews Confused
by Ruth R. Wisse
December 22, 2019

Anti-Semitism is on the rise in the U.S., but the response from America’s Jews has been confused. Donald Trump is the first president to confront anti-Semitism by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and by extending civil-rights protection to Jewish college students in the U.S. Yet some Jews and Jewish organizations condemn him as an anti-Semite and denounce his initiatives. One reason, perversely, is the success of Holocaust teaching. Americans raised on this history are so used to Nazi villainy that they cannot imagine any other form of anti-Jewish politics. READ MORE

ALGEMEINER Charles Jacobs and Avi Goldwasser: America’s Failed Jewish Leadership Must Resign It’s hard to ignore the simple fact that Jewish leaders have failed to stop or even slow down the accelerating epidemic of Jew-hatred in America. Good intentions and doing their “best” is not good enough. It’s irrational to continue with the current policies and leaders and expect different results. Part of the reason for their failure is that many mainstream Jewish leaders have failed to fully understand the new threats we face.

While the west puts its feet up over the holiday season, the heroic people of Iran are continuing to put their lives on the line in their attempt to bring down the tyrannical Iranian regime. The current wave of protests across the country started last month. The courage and determination of the people are staggering. According to a report published on the Persian-language section of the Al Arabiya news website, some 1360 people have been murdered so far by Iranian security forces, principally the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). “ICC prosecutor Bensouda’s bid to probe Israel for war crimes is being met with intense hostility, including by reporters highlighting her past work for a brutal African dictator”

TIMES OF ISRAEL
From The Gambia to The Hague: Meet Israel’s new public enemy number one
by Raphael Ahren
December 26, 2019

Israel has many detractors, real and imagined, but since Friday the country has a brand new public enemy number one: Fatou Bensouda, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. Since announcing her intention to open an investigation into the “situation in Palestine” because she believes war crimes “have been or are being committed” there, the 58-year-old Gambia native has endured a massive wave of criticism. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu repeatedly accused her of “pure anti-Semitism,” comparing the legalistic argumentation she put forward to the anti-Jewish decrees by the villains of the Hanukkah story.
