#CovertCash What US universities don’t want you to know about their foreign funding

Clarion Project’s latest film, Covert Cash: What American universities don’t want you to know about their foreign funding, seeks to expose those hidden billions and investigate the demands and trickle-down effects it has on America’s future leaders. Why would American universities accept money from corrupt regimes who actively work against American interests? Why would they accept money from regimes whose human rights records clash with every American value we hold sacred? Covert Cash seeks to blow this subject wide open and drive awareness of the corruption and lack of transparency in US universities, which allow foreign governments to gain influence and a nefarious foothold in the United States. Families of murdered Israeli teens file ‘unprecedented’ lawsuit against Hamas
by Yair Altman
August 30, 2020

The families of three Israeli teenage boys who were abducted and murdered by Hamas terrorists in Judea and Samaria in June 2014, an act that would spark Operation Protective Edge later that summer, filed a lawsuit against the terrorist group on Sunday morning seeking damages worth NIS 520 million ($155 million). According to the families of Naftali Frenkel, Gil-ad Shaer, and Eyal Yifrach, who are represented by attorneys Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, Avi Segal, and Avi Gaz from the Shurat Hadin Israeli Law Center, the purpose of the lawsuit is to stop the Palestinian Authority, which controls parts of Judea and Samaria, from transferring money to Gaza-based Hamas. Several left-wing Jewish groups seek to oust ZOA from Boston JCRC over opposition to Black Lives Matter movement
by Sean Savage
August 31, 2020

Several left-wing Jewish groups have filed a petition to initiate the removal of the Zionist Organization of America from the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston in the latest battle being waged between ZOA and liberal members of American Jewish community. The petition—filed by 21 JCRC Council members, including 11 representatives from the Workmen’s Circle, J Street, Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action, Jewish Labor Committee, Keshet, New Israel Fund and Women of Reform Judaism—claims that rhetoric used by ZOA national president Mort Klein “crosses into xenophobic and racist territory,” and is “not compatible with and is in conflict with the mission of JCRC.” READ MORE

“Some brave liberals will soon be waging war on the very institutions they so recently controlled”

QUILLETTE
The Challenge of Marxism
by Yoram Hazony
August 16, 2020

For a generation after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, most Americans and Europeans regarded Marxism as an enemy that had been defeated once and for all. But they were wrong. A mere 30 years later, Marxism is back, and making an astonishingly successful bid to seize control of the most important American media companies, universities and schools, major corporations and philanthropic organizations, and even the courts, the government bureaucracy, and some churches. As American cities succumb to rioting, arson, and looting, it appears as though the liberal custodians of many of these institutions—from the New York Times to Princeton University—have despaired of regaining control of them, and are instead adopting a policy of accommodation. Chicago residents in affluent neighborhoods downtown, and on the North Side, “no longer feel safe in the city’s epicenter and are looking to move away”

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
‘I’ve never had to think about my own safety in this way before’: Shaken by summer looting in affluent neighborhoods, some Chicagoans are moving away.
by Christen A. Johnson
August 26, 2020

They understand why protesters and rioters have poured onto the streets of downtown, and some acknowledge that crime is worse in other parts of Chicago. Some also agree with protesters that something systemic needs to be changed. But they don’t want to wait it out here in the city, fearful of stepping outside at night and hoping for things to maybe get better. They want out. READ MORE

#BDSFail UAE issues decree formally ending Israel boycott

UAE formally ends Israel boycott amid US-brokered deal
by Jon Gambrell
August 29, 2020

The ruler of the United Arab Emirates issued a decree Saturday formally ending the country’s boycott of Israel amid a U.S.-brokered deal to normalize relations between the two countries. The announcement now allows trade and commerce between the UAE, home to oil-rich Abu Dhabi and skyscraper-studded Dubai, and Israel, home to a thriving diamond trade, pharmaceutical companies and tech start-ups. The announcement further cements the Aug 13 deal opening up relations between the two nations, which required Israel to halt its contentious plan to annex occupied West Bank land sought by the Palestinians. Arafat’s widow tells Israeli TV says she’s been branded a traitor for warm remarks to Abu Dhabi, indicates she has dirt on top officials which she won’t hesitate to expose

Suha Arafat says she’s being attacked by PA for defending UAE on its Israel deal
by Staff
August 28, 2020

The widow of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat told an Israeli TV station that she is under attack by Palestinian Authority leaders for friendly comments she made to the United Arab Emirates, after it announced its normalization of ties with Israel, and has warned she could “open the gates of hell” on PA chiefs if those attacks do not stop, indicating she has dirt on top officials. Suha Arafat, currently living in Malta, wrote an Instagram post on August 21, after the decision to normalize ties between Jerusalem and Abu Dhabi was announced. In it, she said she wished to apologize “in the name of the Palestinian people” for Palestinians’ burning of UAE flags…READ MORE

“Netanyahu has shattered the myth of the centrality of the “Palestinian question,” maintained for several decades not only by the Arab League, but also by the OIC, the EU and the UN”

The triumph of the Netanyahu Doctrine
by Pierre Lurcat
August 28, 2020

The normalization of ties with Sunni Arab countries is illustrative of the second part of the Netanyahu Doctrine vis-à-vis Iran and its proxies (Hezbollah, Hamas, and others) that in recent years has taken the form of close military and security collaboration, usually far from the spotlight, between Israel and the Gulf countries. Contrary to the assertions of his detractors, not only was Netanyahu not mistaken about the Iranian threat (which they erroneously claim he exaggerated or even outright “invented”), but he also correctly evaluated the diplomatic and strategic opportunity this threat presented: to establish an Israeli-Arab alliance against Iran and its allies, of which the accords with the UAE are the first fruits. Far‐Left Jewish Group IfNotNow Walks Back Condemnation of ‘Free Palestine’ Graffiti at Wisconsin Synagogue
by Staff
August 28, 2020

A far‐left Jewish group has walked back its labeling of the vandalization of a synagogue during racial unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, as “antisemitic.” The words “Free Palestine” were spray‐painted on the driveway of the Beth Hillel Temple during this week’s angry protests following last Sunday’s shooting by a white police officer of Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old black man. Mainstream Jewish organizations denounced the vandalism, with the American Jewish Committee tweeting, “This is antisemitism. Full stop…The far‐left group IfNotNow initially added its voice to the denunciations, with a Twitter post calling the act “antisemitic.”…But within 24 hours, IfNotNow reversed itself following a flurry of criticism from left-wing activists on Twitter. Rabbi Sacks: “I’m afraid I have absolutely not the slightest shred of sympathy for anyone who, as a rabbi, tells people how to vote”

US Jews making a ‘big, big mistake’ in politics
by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks
August 28, 2020

…Sacks made the comments in response to a question about Rabbi Shmuel Kamenetsky, an influential haredi Orthodox rabbi who recently said that Jews should vote to reelect Trump out of gratitude. Another Orthodox rabbi, Aryeh Spero, blessed Trump and his reelection campaign this week at the Republican National Convention. On the Left, Reform and Conservative rabbis frequently wade into partisan political issues and even argue for specific political candidates in their personal capacity. They even marched against Trump in the protests at his inauguration. READ MORE
