US instituted sanctions as other JCPOA signatories (our “allies” in the war on terror) rejected extending embargo

UN arms embargo on Iran ends
by Lahav Harkov and Seth J. Frantzman
October 18, 2020

The UN arms embargo on Iran expired after 13 years on Sunday, as the signatories of the Iran Deal refused to cooperate with US efforts to extend it. In light of the US triggering “snapback sanctions” meant to stop the restrictions on Iran from expiring, “virtually all UN sanctions on Iran returned, including reimposition of the UN arms embargo,” US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on September 19. However, the other parties to the Iran deal did not accept the American move as valid. Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif called it “a momentous day for the international community, which, in defiance of malign US efforts, has protected” the Iran deal. READ MORE

The Israeli diplomats under cover in Bahrain “all had cover stories, backed up by unconvincing LinkedIn profiles”

Israel’s secret embassy in Bahrain
by Barak Ravid
October 20, 2020

Israel has been conducting undercover diplomacy in Bahrain for more than a decade through a front company listed as a commercial consulting firm…The existence of the covert diplomatic mission in the Bahraini capital Manama shows the depth of a secret relationship that came out into the open with a White House ceremony last month. The existence of the secret diplomatic office remained under an Israeli government gag order for 11 years. A short report about it appeared on Israel’s Channel 11 news last week…On July 13, 2009, a company named “The Center for International Development” was registered in Bahrain. It was a front, providing cover for Israeli diplomacy. READ MORE

“Many Jews believe that the only way to maintain their standing as liberals, guilty of white privilege, is to back Black Lives Matter”

AMERICANS FOR PEACE AND TOLERANCE
New APT video analyzes the Black Lives Matter organization’s attitude to Jews and Zionism
October 18, 2020

These are anxious times: the arc of justice is not bending our way. We are witnessing the demise of a liberal culture, and its replacement by a radical and hostile culture. This emerging movement claims to advance fairness, justice, and righting historical wrongs; but its actions are doing the opposite. Sadly, it’s hard for Jews not to be fooled by good intentions. America’s Jews, who have been in the forefront of the struggles for black civil rights, now face a serious dilemma. While the slogan “Black Lives Matter” is a justified plea for equal treatment and a passionate commitment to the well-being of our black fellow Americans, significant elements within the Black Lives Matter leadership pose a threat to the Jewish community.

A look into the IDF’s mysterious new elite unit that could revolutionize the battlefield
by Yaakov Lappin
October 20, 2020

In the summer of 2019, the Israel Defense Forces formed a completely new kind of elite unit, and many of the details surrounding its activities remains unknown. What is known, however, is that the new Multi-Dimensional Unit is an unprecedented military formation, which does not rely on any pre-existing military model…The unit consists of soldiers from various elite reconnaissance battalions from the Paratroopers, Golani and Nahal, infantry brigades, alongside elite reconnaissance companies from the Armored Corps. These are joined by soldiers from the Yahalom elite combat engineering corps, Duvdevan special forces and the Oketz canine special forces unit. In addition, pilots and personnel from the Israel Air Force’s Headquarters have joined the mix. READ MORE

“If Erekat really believed his own libel that Israelis ”have the wild desire to get rid of the ‎Palestinian people,” he certainly would not have chosen Hadassah Hospital to treat ‎him and try to save his life”

PALESTINIAN MEDIA WATCH
Palestinian leader chooses Israeli hospital for Coronavirus treatment after saying ‎Israel intentionally spreads the virus to kill Palestinians
by Itamar Marcus
October 18, 2020

It is quite ironic that top PA official Saeb Erekat has asked that Israel’s Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem treat him for his Coronavirus disease. Israeli sources reported this afternoon and Palestinian sources confirmed that Erekat, who was reported sick last week, is now having trouble breathing and is being moved to the Israeli hospital. Palestinian Media Watch has reported that while Israel has been giving significant ‎medical training and other aid to the Palestinian population to fight the coronavirus, ‎the PA has been using the pandemic outbreak to spread the libel that Israel is ‎intentionally infecting Palestinians with the virus and trying to kill them. ‎READ MORE

Holocaust survivor’s daughter wants her late mother’s interview out of ‘Borat’ sequel
by Cnaan Lipshiz
October 16, 2020

The daughter of a late Holocaust survivor is suing to have her mother’s appearance in Sacha Baron Cohen’s upcoming “Borat” sequel removed from the film, stating that the comedy mocks “the Holocaust and Jewish culture.” Cohen, who is Jewish, interviewed Judith Dim Evans earlier this year “under false pretenses with the intent of appropriating her likeness,” reads the lawsuit, which was filed this week with the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Cohen approached Evans for an interview in what he called a documentary earlier this year, the lawsuit states. READ MORE

A Georgia State adjunct professor says he’s voting against anti-Semitism at the ballot box

ATLANTA JEWISH TIMES
When Mobs Rule, Jews Lose
by Jerry Levy
October 16, 2020

…I get it when the BLM leadership explicitly states they are Marxists. I get it when they march in the streets of D.C. screaming about “Israeli genocide,” and I get it when their platform finds space to single out only one foreign country for boycott and divestment, Israel. But what I don’t get are the secular leftist Jewish groups announcing support for this political movement that hates us. The Anti-Defamation League has even aligned themselves with Al Sharpton, a renown anti-Semite and bigot. The abandonment of American Jews by hundreds of Jewish organizations supporting BLM has been tragic. READ MORE

ALGEMEINER New York Times Op-Ed Glorifies Farrakhan March, as Bari Weiss Says Jew Hate Is Times Blind Spot A former editor and writer for the New York Times editorial page, Bari Weiss, is faulting the Times for publishing an op-ed piece glorifying Louis Farrakhan’s Million Man March and failing to provide context about Farrakhan’s antisemitism. “Today the New York Times ran an oped about the Million Man March and Louis Farrakhan. If you read the oped and knew nothing about Farrakhan, you would think he was a gentleman,” Weiss tweeted.

“The polls so far show that the Democrats, a party extremely heavily influenced by Marxism and the doctrine of state control, is about to take control of the federal government”

AMERICAN SPECTATOR
Our Second Civil War: Communism Collapsed Only to Revive
by Ben Stein
October 12, 2020

Now for a few thoughts on the coming second civil war and why the first Fort Sumter shots may have already been fired. Stupid us back in the late 1980s and in 1991 when the Soviet Union dissolved and we thought Marxism had finally been defeated. Marxist promises of an earthly paradise for workers had been thoroughly exposed as lies. Marxism gave the world the most bloody, brutal, murderous, and impoverished regimes the world had ever seen. Russia, which was renamed the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, had turned into a vast killing ground. The repression of the Russian people under the Tsars was a picnic in a park compared with the immense murder state that the USSR became. READ MORE

“There is nothing “fair” about Governor Pritzker’s “fair tax amendment””

NATIONAL REVIEW
A Progressive Tax Will Doom Illinois Small Businesses
By John Tillman
October 19, 2020

…While all taxpayers are at risk once Illinois state lawmakers can divide taxpayers without facing pushback from constituents, the insidious part is the progressive tax would kick small businesses and our economy as we struggle to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Economists roundly warn against adding taxes during a recession. In Illinois, small businesses are responsible for 3 out of every 5 net jobs created. Small-business owners have also suffered the most during the economic fallout from COVID-19.State lawmakers already passed initial progressive rates in case they win voters’ approval. The hit to over 100,000 small businesses in Illinois will be up to a 47 percent tax increase. And that’s just the damage so far. READ MORE

BDS resolutions on campuses represent dangerous ‘intersectionality’
by Daniel Pomerantz
October 15, 2020

Over the past few weeks, in moves that were in equal measures galling, ill-timed and stunningly decontextualized, students at two prominent American universities — including my alma mater — voted in favor of divesting from Israel. These votes occurred during the 2020 High Holiday season, when Jewish students may have been less available to weigh in on this debate as they were navigating virtual synagogue services or other COVID-compliant religious gatherings. While these votes, at Columbia University in New York and at the University of Illinois, are symbolic in terms of university policy, they are nonetheless significant as they reflect a shift in student opinion that affects life on campus…READ MORE
