Eight Democratic Senate hopefuls speak out against annexation
by Eric Cortellessa

As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s start date for annexing parts of the West Bank nears, a growing list of Democrats is speaking out against the move and warning that it would severely weaken the prospects for peace. Among those Democrats are eight US Senate candidates in battleground states who could remake Capitol Hill’s partisan balance should enough of them win in 2020. In statements given to the liberal Mideast advocacy group J Street, those candidates each voiced staunch opposition to Israel’s proposed unilateral annexation of West Bank territory, starting on July 1. Europeans Pushing to Boycott Israel Over Annexation Should Think Twice
by Richard Goldberg
June 10, 2020

Israel’s new government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz, may soon declare Israeli sovereignty over roughly 30 percent of the West Bank, including major Israeli settlement blocs and the Jordan Valley. Some European governments are reportedly pushing the European Union for a tough response against Israel, including economic sanctions. European governments should reject these ideas—not just because they’re wrong, but also because they carry significant risks for European companies and economies. READ MORE

ALGEMEINER ‘Major Blow to BDS’: Bill Criminalizing Business With Israeli Settlements Shelved by New Irish Coalition An Irish bill that would have criminalized doing business with Israeli settlements was shelved this week, when it was not included in the incoming coalition government’s five-year plan. The legislation — which would have fined any Irish citizens involved in goods and services produced in the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem 250,000 euros and sentenced them to five years in prison — will not be part of the Program for Government in Ireland adopted by the new coalition.

“As careers are ruined for often-wrongful accusations of racism, Ilhan Omar remains untouchable, despite her anti-Semitism. The same will be true for Chelsea Handler”

Why can’t you get canceled for anti-Semitism?
by Jonathan S. Tobin
June 16, 2020

…One prominent example was that of popular comedian and television star Chelsea Handler, who approvingly posted a video of National of Islam hatemonger Louis Farrakhan on her Instagram page this past weekend. Handler said a Farrakhan statement on racism from an old clip from “The Phil Donahue Show” was “powerful.”…One might have expected a surge of anger directed towards Handler by her colleagues in the entertainment industry, in addition to announcements that indicated that both individuals and companies wouldn’t work with her in the future. That didn’t happen. Instead, several celebrities even more famous, such as Jennifer Anniston, Jennifer Garner and Michelle Pfeiffer, voiced support for Handler. READ MORE

JEWISH INSIDER Chelsea Handler finally deletes Farrakhan video after days of outrage Does Hollywood’s silence over Instagram clip speak volumes? Handler, who has close to four million followers on Instagram, posted the 10-minute video of Farrakhan on a 1990 talk show on Sunday, calling it “powerful.” Handler, who is Jewish, at first doubled down on her decision to post the video even when called out by commenters.

Anti-racism protesters in Paris yell ‘dirty Jews’ at counter-protesters
by Donna Rachel Edmunds, Jeremy Sharon
June 14, 2020

French anti-racism protesters shouted antisemitic slogans including “dirty Jews” and waved placards reading “Israel, laboratory of police violence” at a rally in Paris’s Place de la République on Saturday. In light of the Black Lives Matter rallies that have been taking place in protest against police brutality in the US, French protesters gathered in the city to protest the death of Adama Traoré, a Malian French man who died in police custody in 2016. “I’m wondering if any of the American Jews who are taking to social media and marching through our streets in support of BLM have any idea that the movement is, of course, blaming Jews for all of this”

D.C. Mayor and Democrats Take a Page Out of the Palestinian Authority’s Playbook

by Lauri B. Regan
June 7, 2020

…Young and old, people across the country are now being called racists lest they publicly support the “protests” by Black Lives Matter, an anti-Semitic movement that calls Israel an “apartheid state,” accuses its Jewish citizens of committing “genocide,” and supports the anti-Semitic boycott, divestment and sanctions movement designed to destroy Israel. Our children are being indoctrinated with lies about what that BLM organization is and what is actually happening on America’s streets – from lies about systemic police racism to the idea that the protestors are peaceful citizens with reasonable demands. In fact, even Nickelodeon and Sesame Street have joined the bandwagon of brainwashing our nation’s youngsters. READ MORE

The Trump administration and Israel coordinated the executive order authorizing US sanctions against International Criminal Court (ICC) employees who launched an investigation into whether US forces committed war crimes in Afghanistan…Sourcing Israeli officials, Ravid added that the main reasoning for Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s visit to Israel last month was to accomplish this exactly…Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Yuval Steinitz, the minister responsible for defending the Israeli side against the ICC, were both present at the meeting in Jerusalem and, according to the report, Steinitz pushed Pompeo to issue sanctions against officials within the international court right then and there. “We as black Americans need to stop letting people with no real interest in our well-being tell us how to behave toward our Jewish cousins”

The Palestinian appropriation of black pain
by Joshua Washington
June 8, 2020

Among the black civil rights leaders, those who are anti-Israel tend to see a similarity between their struggle and the Palestinian struggle. Beside the fact that the notion is absolutely false, it is intentional. Arab leaders have sought to hijack black narratives to legitimize their cause since the 60s. That is why Mahmoud Abbas refers to Israel as “racist,” and compares it to the Jim Crow laws America used to have. Such a propaganda campaign is only effective amongst the “color consumed.” If one is color consumed, all Israel’s enemies have to do is to get them to see Israel as a country of white EuropeansREAD MORE

ELDER OF ZIYON Vic Rosenthal: Being an Ally Works Both Ways I feel compelled to say that BLM’s primary cause is just. I don’t know if proportionately more blacks are killed by law enforcement than whites, because there are persuasive statistical arguments made on both sides. But every black American that I’ve ever talked to about this – and they have been primarily well-educated, middle-class black people – can recount numerous anecdotes about harassment, humiliation, and fear at the hands of police officers.

AIPAC denies overlooking congressional criticism of planned Israeli annexation of West Bank areas
by Jackson Richman
June 12, 2020

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the top pro-Israel lobby, has denied a report that it gave permission to U.S. lawmakers to criticize Israel ahead of the Jewish state’s expected move to apply sovereignty to parts of the West Bank, also known as Judea and Samaria, where Jewish settlements are situated. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency cited both a congressional aide and an AIPAC donor this week that the lobby told members of Congress, via Zoom meetings and phone calls, that it won’t stand in their way if they choose to criticize Israel’s plans to annex parts of the West Bank by July 1. This was apparently contingent, according to the JTA report, on these legislators not linking their criticism to or making it conditional on U.S. aid to Israel. READ MORE

The soldier, from the Golani infantry brigade, came to the man’s aid Friday in the city of Hebron. June 10, 2020

The rapper Ice Cube courted controversy on Twitter Wednesday after tweeting out a series of memes linking Judaism to occult worship and implying that modern-day Jews are not descended from ancient Israelites…Several of those tweets, posted within minutes of one another, seemed to target Jews…The tweets came two days after Ice Cube tweeted an image of a mural that critics have called anti-Semitic. The mural, which was removed from a London wall in 2012 over complaints of anti-Semitism, depicts men with prominent noses sitting around a monopoly board resting on the backs of black people.
