Anti-Zionist Teacher Axed From Elite NYC School After Free Beacon Exposé
by Adam Kredo
January 10, 2020

An elite New York City preparatory school fired an outspoken teacher following a Washington Free Beacon report detailing the individual’s social media postings condemning Israel and Zionism. JB Brager, a history teacher at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, was fired on Thursday following fierce community backlash over tweets and other social media postings that expressed support for the anti-Semitic boycott movement against Israel. Brager’s public postings, which also included criticism of straight individuals, were the subject of a Free Beacon exposé published Thursday morning that detailed mounting concerns among Fieldston students and parents about the school’s direction. Department of Education to Investigate StandWithUs Complaint Against UCLA
by Aaron Bandler
January 9, 2020

The Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) announced on Jan. 3 that it is investigating a StandWithUs complaint that UCLA improperly handled allegations of anti-Semitism. The StandWithUs complaint, which was filed in October on behalf of student Shayna Lavi, focuses on a May incident when San Francisco State University professor Rabab Abdulhadi was quoted by witnesses as saying during a guest lecture in an anthropology class that supporters of Israel are white supremacists. THE AMERICAN SPECTATOR Georgetown Gets a Title VI Wakeup Call: The days of using federal funding for anti-Semitic programs may be over Rep. George Holding (R-N.C.) won’t be retiring from the House until next year, but he’s already left his mark on academe. This past tax day, he sent Education Secretary Betsy DeVos a letter objecting to the Duke-UNC Consortium for Middle East Studies’ (CMES) use of federal Title VI funds for the anti-Semitic performance of a Palestinian rapper at UNC in March.

Ami Horowitz hits the streets of NY to ask blacks, Why are so many Jews being attacked in New York City ?

WSJ Yale, Al Sharpton and the Attacks on New York’s Jews And so the ultra-Orthodox Jews find themselves sitting ducks again in a New York hostile or indifferent to their fate. Their values have never been so out of step with the city where they live. They have many children in a time when most Americans have few. Global warming doesn’t rate on their lists of top concerns. They lead traditional lives, directed toward God, and maintain traditional families. They don’t know the meaning of “genderqueer.”

VOX The conspiracy theories behind the anti-Semitic violence in New York As evidenced by the Monsey attack, many of the anti-Semitic attacks aren’t coming from the far right, but from non-white people immersed in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories that are just as baseless, virulent, and dangerous as those spread by white nationalists…And while violence aimed at Orthodox Jews and people who are visibly Jewish (those who wear kippahs, for example) has been increasing for months, media attention and, more importantly, attention from law enforcement agencies, has been sparse.

Some Israelis are resorting to importing butter

Israel is experiencing a butter shortage that won’t end anytime soon
by Sam Sokol
January 8, 2020

The land of milk and honey has been short of one of the most commonly used dairy products: butter. Since early 2019, butter has become such a scarce commodity that Israelis have taken to sharing rare sightings of it on social media. Some, like Rahel Jaskow, have even begun making their own at home. “I wanted fresh butter and buttermilk without having to worry about the shortage,” Jaskow told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “I bought 32% whipping cream and churned butter from it using several methods. Finally I bought a Kilner butter churn since I believe in using the right tool for the job. It’s working out very well.”  READ MORE

CAMERA YouTube asks, Why doesn’t the New York Times want people to know the truth about Islamic Jihad?

CAMERA BLOG
Why is NY Times downplaying Islamic Jihad ?
by Gilead Ini
January 8, 2020

Why did New York Times editors scrub a reference to the West’s view of Islamic Jihad as a terror organization? Why did they later cast the murderous group as “nettlesome” and “unruly,” as if describing a stray tuft of hair and not terrorists responsible for targeting innocent men, women, and children at malls and on buses? Why do Times reporters feel comfortable noting that a tiny but racist Israeli political party is “anti-Arab,” but not that Islamic Jihad is “anti-Jewish”? Why do they frequently suggest Israeli building in the West Bank is a violation of international law, but generally avoid saying the same about Islamic Jihad’s indiscriminate rockets fired into Israeli towns? Israel’s new anti-missile laser: Each firing of the laser would cost approximately one dollar

Defense Ministry announces ‘breakthrough’ in anti-missile laser development
by Judah Ari Gross
January 8, 2020

Israel’s Defense Ministry on Wednesday announced that it was developing a laser beam capable of shooting down incoming rockets and small drones, which it plans to test throughout the coming year. According to the ministry, the development of this laser system was possible due to a recent unspecified “technological breakthrough,” following years of investment in research efforts by defense contractors and academic scientists. The futuristic defense system is only in the early development stages and won’t be operational in the near future, the ministry said. READ MORE

“There is no reason why anyone should give Ben Rhodes a megaphone to oppose current U.S. foreign policy toward Iran”

WASHINGTON EXAMINER
Noted liar Ben Rhodes touted as Iran expert by media
by Becket Adams
January 6, 2020

Either the press has a very, very short memory or it enjoys the abuse. These are the only explanations for why newsgroups are giving former Obama White House staffer and admitted liar Ben Rhodes a platform to discuss the United States’ long-overdue response to recent Iranian provocations…The Atlantic is not the only place where Rhodes, who is quite literally famous for lying to reporters, has resurfaced following the killing of Iranian Quds Force leader Qassem Soleimani. In the three days since Soleimani’s death, Rhodes has appeared on both CNN and MSNBC to offer his uniquely dishonest brand of analysis. READ MORE

“Tehran understands that it miscalculated in recent weeks, pushed too hard and misread the Trump administration”

Iran seeks to end direct clash with America and return to an asymmetrical comfort zone
by Yaakov Lappin
January 8, 2020

The wave of Iranian ballistic missiles that struck two military bases in Iraq early on Wednesday that house U.S. personnel was a clear Iranian attempt to conclude the current phase of escalation with Washington. The missiles failed, intentionally or not, to cause any casualties, after days of warnings by Iranian officials saying that U.S. military targets would be hit—possibly an early warning designed to decrease the chance of victims when the strikes actually came. Still, they were an exhibit of accurate Iranian firepower.READ MORE

WALL STREET JOURNAL Joe Lieberman: The Democrats and Iran Why can’t the party’s candidates simply admit Qasem Soleimani’s death makes Americans safer?…President Trump’s order to take out Qasem Soleimani was morally, constitutionally and strategically correct. It deserves more bipartisan support than the begrudging or negative reactions it has received thus far from my fellow Democrats. The president’s decision was bold and unconventional. It’s understandable that the political class should have questions about it.

NATIONAL REVIEW Mourning Soleimani, from Hollywood to the Campus Now that Qasem Soleimani’s mortal coil has reached room temperature, and he is enjoying the fruits of his martyrdom, sympathizers everywhere are mourning him and praising him. His postmortem fan-club members are all denizens of the Left — media figures, celebrities, politicians, and especially academics. Their somber, cliché-ridden eulogies range from stupid Twitter commentary to well-written articles, with praise for Soleimani, unalloyed contempt for Donald Trump, and dire predictions of retribution in the days ahead.

WALL STREET JOURNAL Editorial Board: Biden Places His Iran Bet He comes down against the Soleimani raid and predicts Mideast chaos…That was some speech Tuesday by Joe Biden. The Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President wrapped himself tightly in Barack Obama’s Iran policy, called Donald Trump’s strike against Iranian General Qasem Soleimani a “debacle,” and all but declared that Mr. Trump is the greatest single danger to world order. As election bets go, this is a big one.

New York City march on antisemitism: “That the march drew together so many disparate elements of the Jewish community also may have stemmed from careful planning”

THE NEW YORK JEWISH WEEK
25,000 People March Against Anti-Semitism In New York City
by Doug Chandler
January 6, 2020

Joined by city & state officials, marchers from disparate parts of the Jewish community came together today to protest a recent rise in anti-Semitic incidents here…“It’s very chill,” said Zachary Braiterman of the Upper West Side, who noticed the crowd’s diversity. “You got your Trumpers; you got your anti-Trumpers; you got your Zionists; you got your anti-Zionists; you got your ‘normals,’” he said. Braiterman himself, a professor of Jewish studies at Syracuse University, came to the rally with fellow members of Congregation Ansche Chesed, one of hundreds of participating groups and institutions. Netanyahu, in apparent stumble, calls Israel ‘nuclear power’
January 5, 2020

In an apparent slip of the tongue on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described Israel as a nuclear power before correcting himself with a bashful nod and an embarrassed smile. Israel is widely believed to have an atomic arsenal but has never confirmed or denied that it has nuclear weapons, maintaining a so-called policy of ambiguity on the issue for decades. READ MORE
