“Forty years after the Islamic Revolution, substantial numbers of Iranians are finally rejecting the priorities of their masters”

Iranian Protests Were Not about the Price of Gas
by A.J. Caschetta
December 2, 2019

Anyone who thinks that the recent protests in 100 cities throughout Iran were about gas prices did not pay attention to what the protesters were saying. The immediate spark that led to the Arab Spring was the 2010 self-immolation of a Tunisian fruit vendor, but the Arab Spring revolution was not about Tunisian citizens’ ability to obtain permits to sell fruit. Likewise, this unrest in Iran was not about the price of gas. Iranian protesters (and rioters) chanting “No to Gaza, no to Lebanon!” “Leave Syria and think of us,” and even “Death to Palestine!” indicates that something much larger than the price of gas drove their outrage. NEW YORK POST Liel Leibovitz: Iran in flames and ‘experts’ didn’t foresee it due to Trump-hate blindness Did our experts see this coming? Nope: Most were too busy blasting President Trump. The prestige press and Twitterati spent the last few years railing against the president for trashing the nuclear deal and ratcheting up sanctions — actions that had supposedly sent the Iranian people rallying around the flag…Blinded by their disdain for Trump, they could credit no narrative that didn’t feature the president as the ultimate bumbler.

“Jews are ‘colonialists’ and ‘occupiers’ who only arrived in Israel in 1948, the academics claimed on Palestinian TV”

JERUSALEM POST
Palestinian academics deny archaelogical evidence of Jews in Israel
by Donna Rachel Edmunds
December 1, 2019

The Palestinian Authority is continuing with its propaganda mission to deny Jewish links to the land of Israel by placing on television academics who are willing to refute clear archaeological evidence to the contrary. Palestinian Media Watch has recorded three examples of Palestinian academics appearing on official PA TV in October and November to discuss the archaeological evidence linking Jews to the region. In all three cases, the academics outright denied that there was any evidence at all of Jewish life in Israel before 1948, painting the current Jewish population as occupiers and usurpers. READ MORE

“Observers warn that while the Islamic State may have been “defeated” in the Middle East, it remains a potent danger to Europe”

GATESTONE
Islamic State Alive and Well in Europe
by Soeren Kern
December 2, 2019

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the November 29 jihadi attack at London Bridge, where a Pakistani Islamist stabbed two people to death and injured three others. The suspect, 28-year-old Usman Khan, a convicted terrorist, was subsequently shot dead by police. Khan, from Stoke-on-Trent, was convicted in February 2012 of plotting — on behalf of al-Qaeda — jihadi attacks against the London Stock Exchange and pubs in Stoke, in addition to setting up a jihadi training camp in Pakistan. He was sentenced to an “indeterminate sentence,” meaning that he could have been kept in prison beyond his original minimum term of eight years due to the danger he posed to national security. “The draw of Israelis to physical culture & embodiment began with early Zionist thinkers who sought out to become the “muscle jew” and to flex the muscles of physical survival instead of spiritual faith”

Gal Gadot, Zionism and The ‘New’ Jewish Body
by Kinneret Kim Dubowitz

While the fitness craze has ignited people in many countries, and especially those inhabiting warmer climates, this trend towards physical fitness among Israeli Jews may have a deeper root; A story of the transformation of the oppressed Eastern European “Old Jew” and a desire for Israeli society to replace this with the physically fit embodied Israeli “New Jew.”…The “New Jew” would not make the same mistakes of the Jews of the past and grow in weak, unhealthy, therefore defenseless bodies, becoming subject to continuous oppression. READ MORE

by Jenni Frazer

“To its credit, the ADL has been all over the problem of anti-Semitism on the far-right.” On the left, not so much.

Who can speak for American Jews against anti-Semitism? Not the ADL
by Jonathan S. Tobin
November 27, 2019

…Anti-Semitic trends that couldn’t be connected to Trump by even the most rabid liberal were swept under the rug. Its belated response to the targeting of Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn by African-Americans has been too little and too late, and bespoke more of a group that is addicted to playing politics than a national defense organization. Just as bad is the fact that under Greenblatt, ADL has been slow to recognize the threat from the left as basically uninterested in it. That’s hardly surprising given Greenblatt’s role in an Obama administration that helped normalize anti-Israel sentiment within the Democratic Party. READ MORE

by Staff
November 25, 2019

More than 11,000 people have signed a petition urging the Canadian government to reverse its vote in favor of an annual United Nations resolution that deems the Western Wall and other sites of Jewish worship occupied Palestinian territories. The General Assembly motion in question, which passed on Tuesday afternoon, describes east Jerusalem — home to the Temple Mount and the Jewish Quarter of the Old City — “Occupied Palestinian Territory,” without recognizing any Israeli claims to the land. It also condemned the construction of the West Bank security barrier, which was erected following a Palestinian campaign of suicide bombings and other attacks targeting civilians. READ MORE

Thousands have been protesting against the government and revolutionary leader Ali Khamenei in dozens of Iranian cities for more than a week now. Israel will only attain peace through victory
by Nave Dromi
November 24, 2019

Ever since the Muslim conquest, occupation and colonization of the Middle East and North Africa in the seventh century, Jews, among others, lived under a dhimmi status. While the term dhimmi has been translated as “protected,” the actual meaning is far more sinister. Under Islamic law, Jews were less than second-class citizens, they were a brutally oppressed minority, forced to pay special taxes called jizya, frequently forced to place distinctive signs on their houses and clothing, and sometimes brutally humiliated by other restrictions.
