“Tischler, who is also Orthodox, allegedly caused the attack on Kornbluh after some in the community were upset about the journalist’s reporting on the anti-lockdown protests”

Protesters gather outside home of assaulted journalist after arrest of Heshy Tischler
by Kenneth Garger
October 12, 2020

Dozens of noisy protesters gathered outside the Brooklyn home of an Orthodox journalist on Sunday night in reaction to the arrest of activist Heshy Tischler for allegedly inciting an unruly mob to attack him. “No Heshy, no peace,” the protesters chanted at Jacob Kornbluh, a reporter for Jewish Insider who was assaulted last Wednesday during Borough Park protests over coronavirus restrictions. Another man shouted into a bullhorn and passing cars honked their horns in an apparent show of solidarity with the group who appeared to be pinning the blame for Tischler’s arrest on the victim, Kornbluh. “According to the survey by US-based Zogby Analytics, 59% of Jordanians and Saudis, along with 58% of Egyptians and 56% of the residents of the UAE support normalization with Israel, while 61% of Palestinians oppose it”

Poll finds growing support for ties with Israel in some Arab countries
By Neta Bar and Daniel Siryoti
October 12, 2020

A recent poll published in the United Arab Emirates over the weekend shows that there is growing support for establishing ties with Israel in some Arab countries. The poll, conducted by US-based Zogby Analytics, has found that in four out of five Arab states and entities there is majority support for normalization with Israel and that the driving force behind this shift is a desire to stabilize the political and military situation in the Middle East. According to Sky News Arabia, the poll included 3,600 Arab respondents living in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Egypt, and the Palestinian Authority, and was supervised by James Zogby, founder and president of the Arab-American Institute. An Orthodox Jewish professor at a small SC liberal arts college refuses mandated diversity training

The Man Who Refuses To Undergo Sensitivity Training: An Interview With Political Scientist Professor Jeffrey Poelvoorde
by Elliott Resnick
September 2, 2020

It’s become increasingly common in recent years. Companies require their employees to undergo “sensitivity training.” Employees say nothing and do as they’re told. Professor Jeffrey Poelvoorde won’t stand for it, though. When asked recently by his employer, Converse College, a private college in South Carolina, to watch two videos –“Diversity, Inclusion and Equity” and “Unconscious Bias” – he flatly refused and published a 2,700-word open letter explaining why. “I do not tell President Newkirk or Provost Barker what to read or watch or think. I demand the same respect from them,” he wrote. READ MORE

Rather than speaking out against a Jew-hater, #ADL has made common cause with a notorious Farrakhan supporter

Say her name? How the Breonna Taylor case became another ADL disgrace
by Jonathan Tobin
October 9, 2020

…For those who think that there’s nothing wrong with the ADL jumping on the liberal bandwagon in this case, there’s another interesting point about the unjustified effort to portray this incident as evidence of systemic racism. It’s that the person behind most of the agitation in Louisville about it—Tamika Mallory—is also one of the country’s more prominent supporters of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and a notorious anti-Semite in her own right. It’s not just that Mallory’s role in this effort to attack and subvert the nation’s legal system should have caused the ADL to avoid entangling itself—and, by definition, the American Jewish community as a whole—in this case. Lessons to Be Learned on the 20th Anniversary of the Ramallah Lynching
by Nave Dromi
October 8, 2020

On October 12th, twenty years ago, like most Israelis I sat transfixed by the unmistakable image of a man proudly waving his bloodstained hands to the outside world. Along with countless others, Aziz Salha had just finished butchering Vadim Norzhich (Nurzhitz) and Yosef “Yossi” Avrahami, two IDF soldiers who had accidentally entered Ramallah, and was wildly gesticulating his bloody murderous triumph to a cheering crowd. This image is seared into the minds of all Israelis over 30 years old. It took place only months after Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak had offered the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat a state of his own on almost all of the territory he claimed, half of Jerusalem, the Temple Mount and plenty of other Israeli concessions. Turning Britain and America into Salem
by Melanie Phillips
October 9, 2020

Much has been written about left-wing antisemitism and the pernicious role played by the universities in fomenting it. Rather less has been written about the antisemitism perpetrated by radical black groups, such as Nation of Islam or Black Lives Matter, which finds routine and largely unremarked expression among rappers, for example, and has infiltrated parts of the black community. There has been little discussion of the linkage between anti-white and anti-Jewish feeling. And there’s been virtually no acknowledgement of the way in which this whole toxic train of thought has been unwittingly institutionalised by governments and other official bodies. READ MORE

“New rapid #COVID test “a shining example of how fruitful collaboration in science and technology between Israel and India can be”

JERUSALEM POST
India-Israel 30-second coronavirus test should be ‘ready in days’
by Maayan Jaffe-Hoffman
October 10, 2020

A 30-second coronavirus detection test being developed by India and Israel should be ready in “a matter of days,” Israeli Ambassador to India Ron Malka told the Indian news agency PTI on Friday. “All the thresholds have been passed.” The operation has been dubbed “Open Skies,” and Malka said he believes the testing kit will enable the world to begin opening the skies, since the technology simply requires a person to blow into a tube and the results become available in less than a minute. It is also very cheap to carry out, as the results are delivered locally without the logistics and cost of sending the sample to a lab. READ MORE

Trump administration action “targets 16 Iranian banks for their role in the country’s financial sector”

US hits all of Iran’s financial sector with sanctions
by Matthew Lee
October 8, 2020

The Trump administration has blacklisted virtually all of Iran’s financial sector, dealing another blow to an economy that is already reeling under U.S. sanctions. The move will deepen tensions with European nations and others over Iran. Thursday’s move hits 18 Iranian banks that had thus far escaped the bulk of re-imposed U.S. sanctions and, more importantly, subjects foreign, non-Iranian financial institutions to penalties for doing business with them. Thus, it effectively cuts them off from the international financial system…Foreign companies that do business with those banks were given 45 days to wind down their operations before facing so-called “secondary sanctions.” READ MORE

Ex-Radical Muslim Decries Dangers of Anti-Semitism
by Tré Goins-Phillips
October 9, 2020

Many years ago, Kasim Hafeez was an entirely different person — a man he’d hardly recognize today, as a born-again Christian. “I was the anti-Semite,” Hafeez told Faithwire. Growing up in the U.K., he lived in a community “where anti-Semitism was very casual and accepted” and in an era when “extremism was rising.”…The upcoming, limited-release documentary, “Never Again,” chronicles the details of Hafeez’s stunning transformation from a radicalized, anti-Semitic Muslim to a born-again Christian defending Israel. It was during that trip to the Jewish state that Hafeez met the now-91-year-old Holocaust survivor Irving Roth and was confronted “with my own wrong” and “decided that I had to speak out for what’s right and share my experiences.” READ MORE
